  1. Hi friends! So I got my sleeve done on 2/1/22 and I was discharged same night since I was able to walk and eat fine. I have been burping frequently which I know it normal, but I’m two days out and still cannot fart. I wrote my surgeon, waiting to hear back. I just wanted to know if anyone experienced something similar? Anything I can try to get myself to fart?
  2. Hi all! I had a very easy time with getting approved with my insurance and meeting requirements for my sleeve. I was able to get all the requirements done in a month and I am already scheduled for 02/01/2021! I feel relieved it was so easy but as soon as I made the appointment the anxiety and reality kicked in hard. Did anyone else find themselves worrying about if they would be successful after surgery? I am also worried about pain since I have never had surgery other than my wisdom teeth (which were so painful). After failing diets my entire life I am now 130lbs overweight and I know this is the best shot I have at losing that much. I am just worried it will be like every other diet or change I have failed. My doctor's office has a support group I have been to but I just feel silly talking in them. Any advice or words of encouragement for dealing with pre-surgery anxiety would be super helpful! Thank you all for the constant support with your own posts, makes me feel not alone ❤️

    This surgery is bullshit...

I’m sorry but this negativity is so off putting to your success. You need to do the work and surgery is only ever a TOOL. You should not be assuming it’ll magically work for you but also this should have been explicitly told to you by your care team prior to surgery. I haven’t gotten my surgery yet but I’ve already had every care practitioner emphasize that it’s a tool and I have to actually work for results. The way it’s different than just calorie restriction/exercise is that the surgery limits the amount you can eat and it also removes the part of the stomach that has the hunger hormones. This makes it actually possible to calorie restrict and exercise without the ability to binge or feel super hungry. If someone tried to do 800 calories a day without surgery they would feel like they are completely starving. Listen to your doctor. Seek a therapist. This is a safe space but also the negativity in your comments has been awful. You need to work on yourself and how you treat others too. Healing and weight loss are best friends, it takes a LOT of work.
  4. AHHH! You guys I am so excited. The last time I posted on here I was so discouraged and upset after having to reschedule a million times but I have good news! I had my consult, the doctor thinks I am an amazing candidate for sleeve surgery. I already did my psych evaluation this morning and passed with flying colors! All I have left to do for my requirements is attend one support group meeting and one nutrition class (scheduled for Dec 1st!!!). My surgeon said it should take me about 2.5 months from our consult to the surgery day! So crazy fast and easy once I got it started. I am over the moon about this! SO excited to finally take back control of my life!!! Thank you all again for the awesome reassurance and support on my last post. These forums are seriously the best source of support and information I could ever ask for!
  5. Wow, this is kind of exactly what I needed to hear... This is why I love this forum! I am actively getting help for the depression because I already know having it and getting surgery will be a crappy mixture haha. I will keep posting as my journey continues! Thank you so much for the support and encouragement!
  6. Hi lovely friends! It has been a while since I posted on here because It seems like everything has REALLY been not wanting me to have this surgery consult. I originally decided on surgery in June of 2021, got my referral, and was all set for my surgical eval for September 1st (long wait for appointments in CA right now). Great! I took the day off work and an hour before my appointment the receptionist calls me from the surgical office and says Dr. had to go due to an emergency - no problem! The only appointment they have now is for September 29th, okay I will take it! Two days before my new appointment I get a call from staff telling me my surgeon will be on medical leave indefinitely and to get a new referral for a new surgeon. SO, I get a new appointment with my PCP, make my new referral, call and they only have appointments in November. November 12th is now my appointment for my first surgical consult with a doctor and I am just feeling so discouraged. The fact that it has taken almost 6 months just to consult has me frustrated and upset. Also, I developed depression about two months ago (being treated, in therapy) so I put on more weight. I just feel like maybe surgery isn't meant for me, or maybe it will be a mistake. I am just looking for some encouragement and maybe some similar stories to know I am not alone in this frustrating appointment hell! Thank you guys ❤️

    Second Guessing Myself

I agree about the binging, but that has been a very recent onset that I believe I can get back under control fairly easily. I am sure going to bring it up with my therapist and surgeon. My husband, mother, and friends are all supportive so that is awesome also! I think I am just psyching myself out by fearing the worst. Thank you for the reassurance and support!

    Exactly One year today!!

You look so fricken cool in your after photos. Awesome confidence change in these photos! Congrats!
  10. SO let me start this by saying I have TERRIBLE anxiety when it comes to anything medical. For example, I pass out when getting my blood drawn. But lately, I have felt my health declining in a way it never has before, and I am also the heaviest (and saddest) I have ever been. I have been in a state of binging lately and have realized I need help. I have tried and failed many diets and I feel that before I develop any co-morbidities, I need to get the weight off for good. This brought me to bariatric surgery which I have discussed with my therapist and PCP. I got a referral and am scheduled for my first consult on 9/1/21. I am super excited, but lately little stupid fears have crept up into my mind. What if I am too young for this and it is too extreme? What if they have to use a catheter on me? What if the surgery fails? What if I die? Even typing this I know there are WAY more positives than the fears could ever outweigh. I just wanted to reach out and see if anyone else is feeling the anxiety before starting their journies? Or if any veterans recall the same fears? My stats for reference: Height - 5ft 4in Weight - 247lbs Age - 22
  11. Hey there, I just wanted to check in on you and also say how proud I am of you for seeking care in the form of therapy. I have not had my sleeve yet but I have TERRIBLE anxiety that I see my therapist for. You are staying on top of continuing care and I have no doubt you will pull through the rough time you're going through currently. Keep fighting the fight, proud of you! ❤️

    Estimated Weight Loss?

Thank you all so much for the feedback! This community has already helped me so much and I am so excited to start the process!! :)
  13. Hi friends! I am brand new here and also in the process of WLS. My first appointment with my weight loss surgeon is on 9/1/21 to start the process! I am looking at the sleeve surgery since it seems the best from the research I have done. My concern is how much I can lose with the procedure's assistance. I know it's a tool, but I need to lose approx. 126lbs and from the calculators and estimators I have used online it says I would lose only about 70lbs with the sleeve or 85lbs with the bypass. These numbers seem really low compared to the results I see on the forums and other websites. I just wanted to know if anyone had more information on this? Is anyone similar to my stats who has lost more/less? Thank you in advance!
