Y'all! I am 4 days post surgery, so still on full liquids and sick to death of the fake sweet stuff. I bought a bunch of freeze dried miso Soup you just plop it into hot Water, and then I filter it through a strainer. I'm in heaven, lol. (It's the little things right now ) Just thought I'd offer up this as a suggestion for those of us still on full liquids.

Glad you found something that gets you through the liquid stage! I love Miso soup!

I didn’t have but maybe 1-1.5 days of pain, or gas! So my stomach no longer hurts, just seems excess gas lol. I am an officially post op 1 week today. I just order the multi chews today, can’t wait to get them!

That's great!! Are they soft chews? I got the chewable tablets and I'm getting really tired of chewing them...it kind of feels like chewing chalk- AND I have to take 4 a day. They are from Celebrate Bariatric but I am thinking about switching to Bariatric Advantage if there is a better option. Has anyone tried the vitamin patches?

I am just trying to make it until next Tuesday, when I can have grits and scrambled eggs! I was supposed to start phase 2 on Friday, but I’m tired of the liquids so I started unsweetened applesauce today!

Been there, I hated full liquids and blended but you will be moving to soft foods soon! It will go by so fast! How do you feel?

Good for you......how did it feel ?

How is your energy level after 3 weeks ?

I feel pretty great! Today is the first day I can actually eat food that doesn't have to be mashed with a fork, so I tried a little soft cheese and low fat ham roll-up. So far so good. They still don't want me eating bread or Pasta, but I can have 3 saltine crackers a day (my nutritionist is very specific!). My bariatric Vitamin contains Calcium, but not enough Vitamin D, and apparently I was really low on Vitamin D according to my pre-op labs. I started on OTC Vitamin D supplement about a week and a half ago and I do think it helped my energy level. I've been very fortunate to not have much pain.

    How are you doing?

Congratulations!! I had my surgery August 11. I’m on puréed foods. Invest in a Bariatric Cookbook (recommended by my Nutritionist). It has been so helpful. Has recipes for all stages . The hardest part is the fluids. But it’s a process so take it day by day.

You are the closest person to my August surgery twin on here that I know of! Mine was the 10th! Glad you are doing OK! We are gonna rock this!!

Out before 11AM the next day?? That's awesome! I've had a really good post-op experience, too-but had to stay an extra day since I was having problems getting my fluids in. I'm really happy with my results so far, have you started the blended stage yet? How is it going for you?

So glad to hear all my August surgery peeps are doing well! I go in tomorrow morning at 5:30AM and am finding myself in my emotions today. Tons of worries and just the emotional toll of knowing I need to go to this extreme to lose weight. I keep telling myself my last 10-15 years have proven I need a tool to help me stay healthy and I know it's the right thing. It's like this unexpected last minute wave of shame and guilt. I hate the thought of putting anyone out and my husband will be bearing the brunt of this with extra childcare, chores, errands, etc.

I thought I could get through this without a therapist, but I am seeing now how that will be a helpful resource. I can only imagine the emotions that will come with this lifestyle change and the changes my body will be going through.

Trying to breathe, stay focused and look to the future today. Thanks for listening! I am so excited to continue to hear about all of your journeys! Best wishes to you all! ❤️

Girl the night before my surgery I was a wreck. I’m only 2 weeks post-op now, so I can’t really offer any long-term insight, but I’m happy I did it. The first couple days in the hospital are rough but once you get through your first week, things will get better! We are in this together and I am rooting for you!! You are making the right decision, and you’ll feel some relief after you get back home and recover for a bit! Saying a prayer for your surgery and speedy recovery!

I am surprised you could eat a "riccotta bake" . I imagine that is pretty high in fat and calories. From my calorie intake I would not be able to eat anything else all day. I find that I have to plan my whole day out so I can have food spread out evenly with my 800 calories.

Hey Tony! Not sure why you felt the need to call me out on here, but I figured since I was on the forum anyway I’d be happy to educate you! 😊

The Ricotta bake is a recipe I learned about through the Bariatric forums here on Bariatric pal. It was a recipe created for those on a blended diet post Bariatric surgery. It can be found on Bariatricbits.com, and I will also post the nutritional information since you are so worried about my calorie and fat intake! And don’t worry, Tony, I only had one serving and couldn’t even finish all of it! 😉

    Serving size: 0.33 cup

    calories: 144

    carbohydrates: 5g

    protein: 12g

    fat: 8 g

So far down 21 pounds with no issue! Good luck with your surgery!

    Hello!

I hope some people can give some advice! I have been stewing on this for a number of weeks, and I am not really sure what to do. I will start by saying that my program is in Canada, and it is set up a bit different than most Americans. I go to a bariatric clinic that includes the psychologist, internal medicine doc, Dietitian, Nurse. The surgeon you are referred to after you have jumped through the hoops with the other professions. You are assigned the surgeon who does your surgery, for the most part, you don't get to shop for one...and they have little to do with the Diet/Medical Part (vitamins, labs, etc). The surgeons are general surgeons that obviously know how to do these surgeries, but they are not solely bariatric surgeons. So essentially, if I have questions I go to the bariatric clinic, and not the …..

Sounds like a her problem, not a you problem. I would keep doing what you’re doing as long as you’re getting your Protein and fluid goals in, but it definitely sucks that you can’t rely on her for any other questions you have 😒

I had the exact same problem - hospital said "we faxed it, they lost it" and surgeon's office said "they didn't fax it".

You may have outgrown this problem by now, but for anyone else who runs into it, I suggest requesting the results (on paper) from the lab (usually via Medical Records) and delivering them to the surgeon's office in person (when you're going there anyways). If you're comfortable with it, you can photograph the pages with your cell phone and email them.

That solved the problem for me.

Pro tip: It's usually the surgeon's office - not Medical Records - that screws up. Keep a copy of the results just in case you need to deliver them more than once :)

I was just about to drive over my H&P to the Surgical Office as well. They were adamant that my PCP’s Office didn’t send them…then miraculously after attempt # 3, someone finally received it! I’m sure the other 2 are sitting in a stack of discarded papers somewhere in their office!

    Hi

does anyone find head hunger hard ……. I know I’m not hungry but all I can think of is bloody food. Grrrrrrr

My surgery was August 10th, and I’m on blended foods right now so I know what you mean. I feel like I crave food even though I’m not hungry. I am a week away from soft chopped and I am so excited. The ricotta bake did help me feel like I was eating more normal foods. Puréed Soups from Panera also helped. They say the head hunger gets better, and I hope so!! I think we’re in a weird stage where we can’t eat what we want, and we don’t see significant weight loss yet so we feel kind of stuck. You’ll do great, we just have to give it time! 🤞

  12. Had mine August 10. Feel pretty good, not a huge fan of the blended diet, but I’m reading on here it gets better. I miss straws, and diet Cokes (even though I’ve not had one in at least a month). I use to watch cooking channels on YouTube a lot but I’m discovering that is a trigger. Will have to find something else to fill my tv time.
