You will. Ride the wave. Remember the vision you had for your future. It’s not supposed to be easy. It’s supposed to be worth it. Only time can tell.

I just got home from my appointment and am happy to say that I'm now scheduled for surgery on February 21. I was able to meet with the dietician right after my appointment with the surgeon and she went over the differences between my old program and their protocols, which are similar with the exception that I will need to do the 2-week liquid diet (my old place only did 2 days). I head to the hospital tomorrow for pretests and then just have to wait the 7 weeks until surgery. Time to get back to my good eating habits after the holidays!
I thought everyone was very nice and I got a lot of sympathy for what I'd gone through with the center closing. I was told one patient who is now at the new practice actually arrived at the hospital the day of her surgery and only then found out it had been cancelled. No one even called her. I don't even know what I would have done had that happened.

OP spoke in the kind of big generalizations ("I'll regret it till I die" etc) of someone who may not have understood that we are playing the long game when we have this surgery. Of course it's hard for a while. Things go wrong. The fundamentals of daily life are changed forever. But adapting is a lifelong process. After 10 years, I feel like the surgery will save your life; but it's up to us to make it a life worth living.

Once a cheater always a cheater. Two days post, I couldn't take the broth anymore, so I went to Sonic and ordered a Jr. Cheeseburger with mustard, ketchup and onions. I chewed each bite about 20 times and spit it all back into the bag. Pretty nasty, but the taste, woooo weee. I felt like a fat kid in a candy shop. Awesome. But to actually eat, 5 days out, went to this great seafood place to Celebrate a major event in our family and had oysters on a half shell. Went down smooth of course and sat well. That was the same fat kid in the candy shop, but actually eating the candy.

Whether or not this OP was a troll, I find it interesting to read here or watch (My 600-pound Life) that food addiction is so prevalent in some peoples' lives that they would rather die than live without their huge amounts of favorite unhealthy food.
Some live in denial when obese. Thinking we will somehow be OK and continue on in that lifestyle. Co-morbidities will eventually catch up. Others simply don't care, with the mindset, " We're all going to die of something someday". Both mindsets are true of most addictive behaviors.
I think most of us here really tried pre-op. Through endless amounts of diets and/or hours of exercise to finally admit we needed help and did something about it. Hence our lack of regret.
To misquote an old saying, nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.... I say nothing tastes as good as healthy feels. Hugs everyone!!

I also regret it! You’re not the only one in time we will feel better. We gave up our best friend if your emotional eater like I was. It’s sad how much food made me happy. I gave up narcotics took me years was hard but is so much harder!!! Stay strong!

I was worried about that also (limitation on foods and experience as your food pusher has warned you), but the reality is that you have no limitations on the types of food you’ll be able to taste and eat once you have healed from your procedure and have maximized your weight loss - though you don’t have to wait for the maximization to sample some yummy foods, if that is your choice (once you’ve healed).
The real life frustrations I do experience involve limiting meals out - especially hard when husband is athlete and bodybuilder and wants to eat all the time. I have recently had to ask him to stop talking about food. I’m not in any mood to have someone talk about endless options of food that I won’t be entertaining. He asked for pizza and French fries while we were out the other night running errands and I refused to drive to either place.
I also try to be outside as often as possible bc when I’m in the house food seems to want to call my name and I’m avoiding it. My will has strengthened since surgery and I can imagine that might be something to fear for a food pusher.

Baby is here and healthy. He’s perfect!

All the sickness I had experienced during pregnancy and thought was dumping or surgery related seems to be mostly just from the pregnancy and not the surgery.

I had an extremely uncomplicated pregnancy and birth.

Good luck to anyone navigating pregnancy after wls! You’ve got this.

I’m so sorry this happened to you Fedup. I have very low Iron levels and was ordered to take more iron from my doctor who just said, “take it with some acid.”? My dietitian and I came up with a more detailed plan that seems to work for me, it’s only three weeks now.

I take 45mg in the morning every other day with 4oz v8 vegetable juice. I picked even days of the month to help me remember. I knew not to have anything with Calcium, but she reminded me not to take PPI at that time either because of absorption issues. (I think that’s where I went wrong) stick to Decaf drinks at the same time too because of irrigation. Some food prior can help with stomach irritation too.

So far I do feel better. My oxygen levels are up (I check due to asthma) three points. My resting heart rate (Fitbit) dropped from 67 to 62, which tells me my heart isn’t working so hard to keep my body oxygenated. The rest of my job, life, diet stayed the same. The blood tests won’t be for another 5 months but some empirical evidence suggests the new iron tablets are doing their job.

    Wishing you well.

Just for a little update, I’m almost 1 year post op and about 34 weeks pregnant. I had lost a few pounds during my first trimester and so from my actual starting weight when I found out I was pregnant, I still have only gained about 20lbs (I was close to goal weight when I found out I was pregnant, 185lbs at 5’11).
I am finding that I cant each as much as I have been the closer I get to my due date as I am out of space.
My blood pressure has been consistently low, 110/70 and he is measuring in the 44th percentile.

LilaNicole20 reacted to summerset in Do you think I can lose 70lbs naturally? I'm at a crossroads :(
Maybe a WLS board is way too biased to really answer this question neutrally.
I personally think that even if it's possible to lose the weight and maintain it that it will most likely be much more of a struggle in comparison to having WLS. However, WLS has its downsides as well, e. g. possible complications both directly and indirectly linked to the procedure.
What you can do is go to the appointment and follow through with the program/plan they have to offer. You can back off anytime if you want.

Hi Fedup, good luck low Iron sucks! I have very very heavy periods and with that have continuously low iron so will dump a load of generic advice I have researched over a couple fo years, sorry in advance (and obvs take doctors' advice first!)
Firstly don't even bother trying/thinking about getting more in your diet, even iron-rich foods hardly have enough unless you eat liver or black pudding especially if you are already low. Supplement away.
Secondly, it is possible you have an absorption issue, but as you have a sleeve (which unlike the bypass don't skip the first bit of the intestines) I think it's much more likely that it's just the small amount of food combined with what sounds to me like way too little supplementation and possibly safe but low levels pre-surgery (NOT a doctor).
Things that help the absorption of iron: Vitamin C, things that obstruct it, Calcium and caffeine. So when you supplement make sure it is not with caffeine or other supplements like calcium or magnesium, it should ideally be along with either fruit juice or a Vitamin c pill or Gummy. Multivitamins with iron combined often dont help as teh iron is just blocked. If your diet is anything like mine post-surgery... there was a lot of dairy! Also... im pretty sure i used to get most of my iron from chocolate, white bread and sugary Cereal beofre surgery.
I also paid privately in the Uk so might have a slightly different perspective to those from the USA above. They won't just do infusions here the way alot of people have been discussing above, they arent covered privately with the cost of surgery, and NHS will supplement first and you need to be ILL. I used Nuffield so your package may differ, but the surgery cost covered the dietician for that year, but not costs from them, so they can ask your GP to prescribe stuff but cant directly. Hopefully its all sorted now but in teh future I would not rely on them to get stuff actioned, get on the phone to the GP get an appointment and get them to prescribe you what the dietitian recommended. I just demanded a repeat long-term prescription of iron pills.
As I say my deficiency is chronic (I prefer iron to birth control at the moment) but I have been on 305mg Ferrous Fumarate every other day for a couple of years, you can also ask for the more expensive ferrous compound if that gives you issues. Maybe try floradix if you can stomach it 🤢. But anything below 100mg or so a day just cant combat the deficiency.
I would up my dosage, check when/the combination of supplements, and keep on chugging, iron deficiency is really normal and very fixable and not down to your diet.

It makes me hyper. I burn so many more calories, get so many more steps, and have an incredibly clean home as a result of my activity while feeling the buzz. This allows for me to eat a little extra as a result and still see results. It's hard to not give into the cravings - push Water and try to just keep yourself busy.
I like sativa and hybrid blends - nothing that is going to make me want to sit there stoned and not moving. I find Wana brand gummies to be the best and there is a Butterfly Effect honey that is sensational, as well.
