About Me

Hi all, let’s see, I’m a newbie to the community, I am a 50 year old ovarian cancer survivor, just shy of two years cancer free. Having cancer and being obese along with all the severe health conditions I had and have It made me decide even more to take a better look at my life and body so I thought very hard about having weight loss surgery to assist me living longer, dropping a lot of fluff, (lol) getting rid of the ridiculous amounts of medications, not being as fatigued, and leading a healthier and more active lifestyle. I had finally gotten the approval to move forward after my one year major cancer surgery to seek out Bariatric weight loss. I started my journey with my weight loss team in February 2021. I had multiple dietitian meetings (thankful) which were very educational and  social worker meetings, I had a lot of pre testing due to multiple serious health problems when I had my cancer tumors. Did I mention my fluffiness hid that I was carrying around 32 and 12 pound tumors? Thankfully I passed all testing with flying colors. The day in June that I received my call to say congratulations that I was approved for surgery, I could have cried, finally, no bad news thus far. I have started following so many people on their journeys on tik toc, lol. They have so much information and recipes and just to chat about their daily life in Bariatric. I have researched so much, I have decided on gastric sleeve, as well as the medical director that this is the best option for me as I had already had such a major open abdominal surgery, so the medical director chief meeting was in august along with all the insurance paperwork and piles of letters and notes from my team to submit. I meet with the surgeon in a week to get my Surgery date!!!!!!! I’m nervous but so excited, they told me it will be September or beginning October for my surgery. I cannot wait to begin this new journey in my life.
I have already ordered a months supply of the Bariatric vitamins, protein powders and bars for later, soup broths, juices, flavored water packets, utensils, scale, serving bowls, etc. I’m so glad I stumbled upon Bariatric pal, there’s so much on this site, it’s great! And to be able to chat with others going through the same journeys, I cannot wait to learn about others journeys.  I would love to have anyone’s input /suggestions . Thanks for listening to my short story
