    Tony B - NJ got a reaction from kcuster83 in Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first
Got a new one yesterday. I had lunch with a former coworker who I have not seen in years. He told me how I looked good and all then said that he noticed I was not constantly hiking up my pants like I had done nearly constantly in the past. I had not really given it much thought but it is true. Now that I have no belly to push down my pants I have no urgency to keep hiking them up. I did not realize how noticeable it must have been.

I went from a 3X shirt to a medium slim fit and I still feel like I am a fat guy. I have lost 110 pounds and am my lightest weight since high school (179). I am getting a little less paranoid about my weight and when people tell me I lost half of me, it helps me realize that I am not longer that guy. It gets better.

Maybe try frozen yogurt instead of ice cream? Or a sugar free brand.

Tony B - NJ got a reaction from KimA-GA in Fluid Intake
I guess everyone has their opinion on this but I think everyone can agree that being hydrated is good for the body and good for weight loss. I drink around 90-100 ounces of Water a day and I credit my water intake for the weight loss I have seen. If I drink a lot of water I rarely if ever get hungry between meals. Remember that water also:
    1. helps keep the skin hydrated which will help the skin contract so you do not have a lot of loose skin after the weight loss. I lost over 100 pounds and my skin is nearly back to where it was 30 years ago on my stomach.
    2. Reduces water retention which helps keep weight off.
    3. Dehydration slows down metabolism....scientific fact....so if you are trying to lose weight, that is something you do not want to happen.
    4. If you are diabetic, plenty of water helps flush out waste and keep your numbers under control.
    5. More hydration keeps the joints lubricated reducing inflammation and making it easier to walk and move which will improve weight loss.
My advice to anyone that has WLS is to continue to force fluids until it becomes second nature to you. I do not think 64 ounces is enough, but that is my personal opinion on my experience. Most people are up 16-18 hours per day, so based on 64 hours, all you have to do is drink 4 ounces an hour....4 ounces....to get 64 ounces in a day. Challenge yourself and go to 6 ounces and you get up to 76 ounces of water. Anyone can force down 4-6 ounces of water in an hour...that is a one ounce shot every 10 minutes to get to 6 ounces.
Force yourself to get this done and you will be glad you did.

None of this is a really big deal. Poppy seeds are not going to cause you any major issues or discomforts. I ate food with poppy seeds in it right from the beginning. I didn't even know it was an issue. I would not even give it a second thought and would have some more right now.

Tony B - NJ got a reaction from ScaredButReady2.0 in I'm sad VERY SAD!
I think we all have this reaction after the first few weeks. I was not really comfortable with eating and drinking for over six months. I recently took a trip to Cancun and was able to eat when I wanted and drink what I wanted. The drinking has gotten infinitely better after 10 months or so post surgery. I can pretty much drink however much I want. I usually nurse a drink before and during the meal and hold off about 30 minutes after but I was able to maintain my buzz all day/every day in Mexico. Sometimes I wish I could really indulge in food but it is not worth the pain and the guilt. I also like being a size 34 waist vice a 48 or 50. There are some foods that I can splurge on like popcorn, nuts, tortilla chips etc from time to time when I get the munchies but it is very rare that I will do that. Since it is summertime, I have been eating a LOT of watermelon which gives me the hydration I need and a nice sweet, low calorie snack.
Things get much, much better....hang in there.

Tony B - NJ got a reaction from Rachael101 in Life after 168 pounds down.....
I did not have quite as much to lose but I did reach a point where I felt that people were not looking at me and judging me any more. Then, after another 30 or so pounds I found that people, especially women were looking at me because I actually looked good. I also get looks because I really stepped up my wardrobe now that I am comfortable enough to wear clothes that are not baggy and hide my body size. There is a point where you will stop being self conscious..hang in there it is coming.

I am 11 months post op and I seem to have stopped losing. I am still exercising and counting calories but nothing seems to move the weight lately. I lost about 113 pounds which is great but was hoping for just a bit more to get below a bmi of 25

I lost about 19 pounds on the pre-op diet. I did it for a little longer than I had to because I was so eager to lose.

After losing nearly 100 pounds and slowing down the weight loss I felt it was time to purchase a suit just in case the need arises where I need one. The Salesperson took me over to the "modern fit" area and tried on a jacket. He then took that off and brought me over to the "slim fit" area and tried on jackets there. The slim fit fit me perfectly. I went from a 52 Regular, Executive Fit to a 42 short, Slim fit. And the pants went from a 50 waist to a 36 waist. When I was checking out he saw I had purchased a suit about 18 months ago and asked who I bought those suits for since they were so large...it felt really good to answer him that I lost the weight but even better feeling to be in a slim fitting suit.

That is what I do. I eat and then eat a little something later to deal with the hunger. I find little Snacks that are sensible really help a lot between larger meals. And...of course...water first to make sure it is just not thirst.
