I am on the same boat. I had my slip up today and had a bagel I was craving then Protein Shakes the rest of the day. I am freaking out thinking every possible scenario. My surgery is Tuesday. Realistically, I don’t think one or minimal slip ups will alter the plan developed by your doctor.
    Good luck in your surgery.

You will be fine! I had a one-week fast and had several slip-ups also! My surgery was performed on October 6th and I am now 2 1/2 weeks out. Everything went very well! Just know that your journey is just beginning!
Please send an update once you are feeling well! The best to you! 💜🌹

Its very hard to stick to the liquid diet...I haven't got too many days left. Had Covid test today...got to be at hospital at 6am on Monday....I'm so not a morning person but for this I will get up...lol.
I wish you the very best with this journey and it all works out with you ...just remember "Nothing Tastes As Good As Thin Feels" they used to say this at Weight Watchers...and "You Bite-You Write" JS
Write anytime....I will reply as soon. As I find it sometimes it takes me awhile to find stuff.

Hi I’m new but sleeve booked for 13th October in Dublin. Totally terrified- not really about the surgery well A little about the surgery/anaesthetic and after pain but mostly about the future and failing. But not doing it is more scary so onwards towards health! 🤞. Good luck to everyone doing this we all have our reasons for surgery.

Kaguragetshealthy_87 reacted to KDBaker in No weight loss pre-op
In my program (MGH in Boston), the pre-op period was less about weight loss and more about building healthy habits. They told me to focus on Protein and Fiber with every meal and snack, make sure I didn't go more than 5 hours without eating, and sip on Water all day long. I'll say it was very helpful to me. And once I filled up on the protein and fiber, a lot of the foods I thought I was going to miss just weren't an issue. Until the 2 week pre-op liver shrinking diet started. Then everyone looked like a walking breadstick or slice of pizza to me.

The Doc will smell it on your breath and cancel your surgery.
It is really, really, really (3 reallys so you know it's really, really, really) important to follow your surgeons plan.
I will tell you people, not known to me personally, have done as you wish to do and gotten away with the heinous crime.
In fact, I can't recall a person caught out in such a nefarious deed. I don't actually think the surgeon could tell, to be honest.
But, no, don't do it. You're building character here. Even though not a soul now living could tell.
    But, follow your surgeons instructions.
    Enjoy the chicken,

Kaguragetshealthy_87 reacted to No thanks in September Surgeries!
Hello fellow September surgery buddies, I’m 18 days post op. Eating a little better now that I’m on soft foods. Talked to my dietician yesterday and my biggest gripe is remembering to take tiny bites and eat very slow and chew thoroughly. I forget sometimes and eat too fast and then I have a horrible uncomfortable pain where it feels food is stuck. But anywho my question for anyone really is, is it just me or has anyone else noticed that other drinks go down way easier than Water? I have to take the tiniest of sips of water and wait but with tea for example I can sip more easily and without issue. Just thought that was interesting. Lol
I had my surgery 24Sep and I was 210 before surgery and am now 197. But I’m pretty sure I’m in the 3 week stall people talk about as I’ve been this weight for a week. But I’m proud of the changes I’m seeing. I took a pic today to compare it and I can tell a slight difference already. There were times I was second guessing the surgery but I can now walk two miles without a lot of pain. I have osteoporosis and arthritis and break bones easily so the 30 + pounds I gained in the last year put a lot of pressure on my joints. I’ve broken an ankle three times and had a broken back. Just some background info, I started at 227 pounds. I was about 222 in the black dress and today at 197.

    Different people, different ideas.
Take what info you deem useful for YOU and leave the rest.
Personally, i give kudos to you for questioning and researching and educating yourself. Too many people follow heaps of advice given to them because they believe these people surely must know better.
Sometimes they may, sometimes they may not.
For what its worth, i stopped drinking Protein Shakes around the time I reached goal. Since then, I’ve probably reached my Protein goal (60g a day..NOTE: i am on the the small side: 5’2”, 115.9 lbs this morning, and exercise regularly) with just regular food maybe 75% of the time.
Im 3 years out now, have been maintaining my current weight (+/- 5lbs) for over 2 years; every single one of my labs have come back satisfactorily (last one in April, my next one is end of this month); my body fat percentage in April was 19% (so i have zero issues regarding muscle mass) ; and I feel fab.
Do you, boo. You’re doing great.

So I am starting my preop diet a little early, I'm really concerned about the size of my liver. I feel focused right now but I am at work. I ended up just getting frozen meals because I love to cook and I tend to overeat big time. I'm so excited and nervous. Ganbatte everyone! Fighting! Let's Go!

I am finishing day 1 of liquid diet and it wasn’t so bad. I am kind of use to sugar free and artificially sweetners because I have done Keto on and off for awhile.
I am to drink 3 shakes and 2 Protein Bars and unlimited broth, sugar free Jello and popsicles. Oh and a boiled egg if needed. Why boiled egg I don’t know but I ate it!
I haven’t felt deprived but I will prolly get bored soon. Just hoping the next 13 go by quickly!
    Good luck all!

Kaguragetshealthy_87 reacted to Highly_Undermedicated in People and their comments pre and post wls
For years people would Comment on my weight...as a teen, when athletic, I was told I looked too masculine, or my grandmother would tell me (while underweight) that I needed to diet or I would end up overweight and over 300 lbs like my dad's mom....which, eventually, I got there. As an obese adult, strangers made rude comments in stores, restaurants, where ever. Their kids picked fun as they did too. And it only got worse the heavier I got and didn't matter if my kids were with me or if I was solo.
Fast forward and now I get from strangers questions like "do you have cancer", "are you sick", and on 2 occasions the automatic store door wouldn't open and I was told if I ate more I wouldn't have that issue. Or one man said "let me show you where the Cookies are, you need to eat those and not that rabbit food"...
Recently I was hospitalized for 3 days incase of emergency surgery for bowel obstruction. My intestines had flipped, but flipped back on their own. I used to have chronic IBS-D now it's IBS-C. So after discharge I was prescribed an rx and 4 OTC meds to help me with keeping regular and avoiding bowel obstruction and surgery. While picking up the OTC meds, a rather large woman and her 18-22 y.o. daughter were on the same aisle...of course, observing my purchases and out loud the mother told the daughter "the reason why she's that thin is because she buys all that stuff to sh!t herself to death...she is anorexic ..don't let me ever catch you doing that. That woman is mentally ill." They walked away. I was left standing there in awe that , that even happened. My husband was like wtf?
Well Saturday we had my daughter's 18th birthday. It was just us 4 and my dad. He hasn't seen me in like 2 months. And in front of my kids, he says "you do not look good. You look sick. You have taken this weight loss thing too far and you have got to stop. You're face and eyes are sunk in, your bones are sticking out and you need to gain about 50 pounds".
I am 148 now. My HW 325. SW 311 3/9/20. I do not think nor does my bariatric surgeon feel that I've lost too much weight. Heck, his GW for me is 136. I am 5'6". I don't know what people are seeing but my point of this post, as long winded as it is, is that the negative comments just never seem to end. I thought for sure that I would lose weight, get healthy (point of surgery...healthy and save my life, not skinny) and feel great about myself. But it seems no matter what size you are, someone, somewhere always has something negative to say about one's appearance. Does it ever end? People suck. That's why I'm a cat person.
