Christina Phillips reacted to SweetCatastrophy in When does it get better!?
I had my bypass on June 14th, and the pain has been excruciating. I've had two c sections and this is much worse by far. The percocet barely takes the edge off. I'm struggling to get all my fluids in. I am passing gas but no bowel movement yet. This is seriously the most uncomfortable I've ever been in my whole life. Please tell me this gets better 😭

I put lemon juice concentrate in my Water. That has helped whenever I get nauseous + makes reaching my water goal much easier!

I bet your doctor means 10 miles per week. I usually walk every morning on my days off from work and do 4-5 miles. I have figured out that is my comfort zone and any more than that I get bored! The most I have done in one day is 6.6 miles and I quit because I was bored and had stuff to do not because I was I was tired!

Maybe they mean 10 miles a week. 10 miles a day is WAY too much for someone who is not even eating maybe 500 calories. Don't over do it

It’s likely your low calorie intake. It’s not uncommon to experience drops is energy, sugar & blood pressure in the months after surgery. They can make you feel nauseous, weak, give you cold sweats & tremors - generally blah. Try some electrolyte drinks. Are you on purées yet? A wider variety of real food sources will give you additional nutrients.
Ten miles!! 😱 So glad my surgeon didn’t give me that goal. I never did that when I was active & slim. Who’s got 2-3 hours to spare every day to walk that distance? Let alone the energy or fitness levels at 6 weeks. Good gracious. But that’s my personal reaction.
14lbs is fine so far. We all lose at our own rate. The bloating sounds like you may be retaining Fluid. The lactose in the shakes may also be causing the bloating (early intolerance or sensitivity to lactose which is not uncommon after surgery). Try some lemon in your Water as a natural diuretic & see if that helps. Look for some lactose free shakes or Protein powders & see if that helps.

Christina Phillips reacted to The Greater Fool in Exercising after surgery
Walking is pretty much all I did for the first few hundred pounds. By the time I got to 100 pounds overweight my spouse and I were walking miles a day people watching in various places.
At about that time I set myself a challenge to see if I could run 3 miles in 30 minutes, which I did in about a month. Shock of shocks I discovered that I enjoyed running. I kept increasing my distance until I eventually ran 5 marathons.
Do what you like. Who knows where it will lead you?
Good luck,
Tek

Christina Phillips reacted to catwoman7 in One month tomorrow and haven’t lost a pound in three weeks
it's just the three week stall - happens to almost everyone. If you do a search on the three week stall on this site, you will literally find something like 17,000 posts on it. All you can do is stick to your plan, stay off the scale, and ride it out. As long as you stick to your plan, the stall will break and your weight loss WILL start up again.
many of us experience several stalls along our journey - if not most of us. As long as you stick to your guns, they'll break and you'll be on your way again. They typically last 1-3 weeks. And absolutely you can lose all your weight. I lost all of mine - over 200 lbs. And I had several stalls, like most of us do...

Yeah I have had LOTS of ups and downs too. But I am 3 weeks out now and things are much better. How long has it been since you had surgery? Once you can start walking and moving more without too much pain things get better then!

Oh wow I can barely walk let alone drive. I am 2 and a half weeks out and still can't get in my bed! Glad you are able to drive and stuff though. I guess the reason why two of my incisions hurt more than the others is bc they used larger rods in those ones. Also bc I guess they had to stich up the muscles and stuff they said. Idk I don't get it lol I just know I feel like my muscles are like tearing when I move certain ways:( hopefully it will get better though..
