Yeah, I have no clue. I got worried at first cause my plan was so very different, but my doctor has also been doing this for a long time (25 years) and teaches at a medical university so I'm sure he's got his reasons for the methods. Puree is sort of soft, but more like constant baby food. When I get to "graduate" to soft it'll actually be whole foods, just ones that are softer, if that makes any sense, lol. I'll get to eat things like shellfish, chicken, turkey, lunchmeats, cheeses and Soups, without having to puree them to baby food consistency first. They do need to be chopped into smaller pieces, but not pureed.

I do get hungry now, but it's not like.. keep me awake at night hunger like it use to be pre-surgery. It usually only comes if I've been bad and forgotten to eat my puree dinner until much later. If I eat on a schedule then I'm not hungry at all. The trouble with trying to eat on a strict schedule is that sometimes I'm bloated/uncomfortable by the time a certain meal is suppose to come around. I've had a lot of gas discomfort/bloating (I wouldn't call it pain) in my intestines and such since surgery. Comes after eating or drinking anything, stays for a while, and then passes. Even Water makes me feel bloated. Fingers crossed it'll eventually go away. It has gotten a bit better since surgery so looking hopeful at least!

As time passes by things will definitely get better. Glad your doing good. 🤗

My plan is weird (in comparison to the others on here). I had no pre-op diet and was only on liquids for a day and a half. The hospital released me on pureed. I'm on pureed for 4 weeks. Then move to soft. I also can't wait to eat something with a texture. Right now I have sugar free popsicles that I eat like.. one a day of, just to get a crunch from something. I was telling hubby at this point I'd gladly do salads, veggies and the like, just to get some texture variety. All part of the process though!

I'm surprised by reading so many posts on how fast the drs are having people eat. But every facility has their own guidelines. What's odd, puree is kind of a soft diet? I'm totally on Clear Liquids - I'm not hungry, but my head like feed me.. Lol. But I'll get there and you will too. 🤗

Just checking in! 12 days post op and I think I'm hitting my first stall. Doing my best to remind myself it happens to everyone and just keep on plan and the scale will start dropping again. Overall down 14lbs since surgery on the 8th. So even if a stall for a week or more, that's still an excellent start :)

The reason I think I'm stalling is cause today is the first day I haven't had a loss. My weight is dead on the same as it was yesterday. It's a bummer cause I almost got down into the 240s (I'm 251.4!), but it will pass!

Oh, also.. I did some puree "taco" stuff. I basically threw taco seasoned turkey meat, guacamole, sour cream, and refried Beans into a blender. The texture was kinda ick. If any of you do this on your pureed diet, I would instead recommend pureeing only the taco meat, then adding that to the other stuff, since it's already pureed. Texture is a lot more tolerable that way.

    Hi,

Try not to focus on the scale. It will surely drive us nuts. So, how long did you have to do Clear Liquids for? I'm 3 weeks clears and 1 week soft, then start regular food. Ugh.. Hate this stage. Hang in there 🤗

I finally had my surgery on June 8th and up until today I have been energetic and optimistic. When I woke up today (Day 9) I felt lousy. I was freezing and hot at the same time. I was queasy and nothing tasted good or even edible. My stomach itches and burns. I can't get comfortable in any position. Most of all I am stressed out because I can't seem to get enough Protein and enough fluids in one day.

Help Me!!!! I'm losing it! I have been crying all day despite my families support. They have no idea what i'm going through.

    Hello,

Take a deep breath. It's ok 🤗 This is scary. Have you've called your drs. Office and see what they think?? And your skin could be just in the healing phase. Will get itchy when healing. My wound areas are a little itchy also. Your hot and old, do you have a fever? The Protein part can be tough- do you like the shakes- can try changing flavors too. Don't worry sweetie- you'll be fine. I would definitely call your Dr and talk to them about what's going on. Hang in there. Everything will all work out. 🤗❤️

I was feeling great. Had a minor set back. I think it is related to my reflux, but I also forgot my incentive spirometer at the hospital. Started experiencing shortness of breath with exertion. Went to the ER yesterday and have a mild pleural effusion. They gave me a incentive spirometer to take home. Thank you for asking

Oh no.. I hope your doing better? Yes, must exercise those lungs after a surgery. Well, just take it easy and rest. Sending positive vibes your way 🤗

I know I need to be patient...

But I'm curious, for those a week out from their surgeries, have any of you lost weight yet? I haven't lost anything and I'm 8 days out.

I know my body is still in trauma and is healing, but I hear of people losing weight immediately. I guess I'm paranoid I'm doing something wrong lol.

I know everyone recovers differently. I've lost 14 pounds since June 7th ( surgery). Did hiu call your Dr and see what they think?

After my one-week post-op visit, my doc told me I could go from full-liquid to puree diet. He also said I didn't have to grind up soft white fish or scrambled eggs if I chewed them well.

Last night for dinner I had an ounce of commercially-prepared breaded cod, with 95% of the breading removed. I also had a quarter cup of mashed potatoes. It was great!

For lunch today, I had a scrambled egg. To be precise, one egg and one egg white. As I was eating, I was thinking, "Everyone tells me to stop eating when I feel full. I don't know whether I've ever felt that. I wonder what it feels like to be full now." Then, about the last bite, I realized I felt full.

Thirty minutes later, I was miserable. It wasn't quite pain. It was more like pressure. It felt like somebody was inflating a basketball inside my gut. I tried to take a nap and couldn't. I sat in the recliner. No help. I tried moving to a different position. Every time, it would feel better for a second, but then the pressure resumed.

Finally I was lying on the floor moaning. I made the wise decision to crawl to the bathroom. After being there for 5 minutes, I finally vomited. (Forgive me for being graphic here, but we're friends, right?) I expected to see a bunch of scrambled eggs, but instead there was just a tablespoon or so of clear saliva. This was about two and a half hours after I ate the eggs.

The pressure didn't stop right away, though it began to diminish. Twenty minutes or so later, I felt well enough to scrape myself off the floor and take the elevator downstairs. It took another couple hours before I was back to normal, though totally whipped.

If you have any "Don't ever do this" stories, please share them. I would be thrilled get the advice that could help me avoid an episode like I just went through.

After a long six months, I finally received my surgery date for Wednesday June 9th. I'm absolutely thrilled! Anyone else joining me in June?

I'm sorry to hear this. I'm really shocked about your Dr telling you can eat soft after one week. I'm strict 3 weeks Clear Liquids only, 1 week I can start soft foods. Do, it's a good month before you can eat regular diet. I hope your doing ok- 🤗
