    May Surgeries - check in!

Hi All. May 24th will be one year since I had my sleeve surgery. And June 28th, 2022 will be my revision to bypass surgery. I have lost around 25 pounds since May 24, 2021. At one point it was about 33 pounds. But Its been the same weight since August/Sept 2021. And now I have GERD really bad as well. So back to surgery I go. I am happy to read your progress and see you all are doing well. Continued Best Wishes!

    May Surgeries - check in!

Today is 68 days since my VSG surgery. I am down 26.9 pounds. But still the same sized clothing though they are looser. Seems like my weight has been the same for a while. However, June 30th I was at 235.6 and today I am at 228.8 so I am down and that is a good thing. I can eat pretty much anything I want. I am hungry all the time. I do get in my protein most days and that is by eating and not by shakes. Though I do still drink shakes now and then. I have not started working out. That is my plan for this coming week. I want to start walking 3 days a week and working out the other 3 with one day of rest. I hope you all are dong well. How is your progress?

    May Surgeries - check in!

I am with you. I am 34 days post op. I can mostly eat what I want to eat and I don't have any issues with it. I dont dump. I dont get nauseated. My water does have to be room temperature, but yet I can drink hot coffee and teas, or cold diet cranberry juice or diet tea. I have gone of plan because I don't really have a plan. I dont know what I can or can not have. I agree the protein drinks are very sweet. I can do fairlife strawberry banana. I add protein powder to liquid types of foods once a day. Such as applesauce, cream of wheat, or soups. I am hungry a lot. I am limited on my intake due to Chronic Kidney disease so I am allowed 48 ounces of water and 43 grams of protein. I do try to do 60 for my protein though anyway. I am down 20 pounds since surgery day. But the past two and a half weeks I am only down 2 pounds total. Hoping that picks back up soon.
  4. It is normal to have a stall at 3-5 weeks post surgery. I am currently in the middle of said stall. I amd 28 days post surgery. The first few weeks was water weight, these next couple of weeks your body is adjusting to the shock of the surgery and the change in eating habits and amounts. After about week 6 the weight should start coming off again. Here are some additional tips: 1. Check your weight no more than 2x per week. If you need to, put your scale away on "non-weighing days" to ensure that you won't use it. 2. Focus on your HABITS and enjoy the journey. This is not a yo-yo diet. It is not a quick fix. This is your new life. Treat your body with kindness and you'll see what amazing things it will do for you. 3. Remember that weight loss (when graphed) often looks like a staircase rather than a steep slope. Some days you'll lose, others you won't. Don't judge yourself based on those numbers. 4. If you do weigh yourself, make sure that you are also taking note of your measurements. Fat takes up a lot more space than muscle. If you're losing inches and slowly losing pounds, this is often an indication that you are losing fat rather than muscle. If you do notice the dreaded "3 week stall", think of it as a badge of honor, a milestone, and "just a phase". Rather than thinking of your journey being "off course", remind yourself that it is just beginning. Time to enjoy the ride!

I might be older than you think.. I'll be 57 on June 12th. As to what I am doing, drink, drink and drink some more. Get those fluids in and I am still on the low side myself at about 48 ounces of water/fluid a day, as they are most important even more so than protein at this point. I only drink plain water and decaf tea. I eat, Cream of Wheat, tuna, greek yogurt, jello, cream of chicken soup, and chicken or beef broth and for a treat frozen pudding pops or outshine popcicles. I have one scoop of Genepro added to either my cream of wheat or cream of chicken soup. I am limited on my protein to 43 grams a day as I have Chronic Kidney Disease. I have not done much in exercise as its only been one week other than the walking. I do plan on incorporating more exercises even those that I can do with minimal jumping around like legs lifts and arm circles. Good Luck Every One.

Yes that is about right for ketosis. your carb intake is low, as well as fat. Only takes about 3 days to get into ketosis.

Sounds like Keto. Your body is in ketotsis and that cause odd odors, including breath and your hootchy, your sweat will smell different as well as your urine. How far post op are you?
  11. I am 7 days post surgery. I have been hungry for days. I actually tried some unsweetened applesauce last night and it was still sooo sweet tasting to me. But it went down smoothly and filled me up for a bit. Today I get to try pureed but I plan to keep it light until I see my Doctor on Friday. So I am preparing some Cream of Wheat for breakfast.
  12. I have been craving something chewable. 7 days post -op and I may just try some peanut butter. I have Jif Sugar free.
