Had my surgery July 15, 2021. Down 68 pounds. In November I hit a stall that lasted well into the first week of January. I just started losing again last week.
I am happy with my progress and still hopeful I will hit my target eventually.
Would love to hear how others are doing.

So I hit a milestone this week of 50kg lost. Which is around 110lbs. I can't believe I've lost so much and I feel so much better thanks to this surgery 😊 I am about 75% to my goal now and even though the weight loss is slowing down, I never thought I would be this weight by February! 😁

    Hi Trishk01

i think everyone is different. I consumed myself with worrying if I was loosing weight as quickly as some.. then I realised we are all different. Our body is different, our start weights are different
my surgeon advised me to aim for 50% of my excess weight by month 6. And as long as I was loosing a bit each week (minus any stalls) then I was doing good. Allow your body to do its job - also you don’t want it too quickly or risk issues with gall bladder.
im 12 weeks tomorrow and I’ve lost 43lbs. My total target weight to loose is 70lbs. I’m averaging/seeing about 2-3lbs lost per week now which is a nice steady decrease.

as long as your following plan, diet, Protein and Water - trust the process.

    🥰 em

How is everyone doing? Happy 3~ months out to us!
I've passed 60 pounds down from starting the liver shrink!! Life is def getting a little easier; my body doesn't hurt as much as it did and I was able to baaarrreeeely buckle the airplane seatbelt the other day. The only bad habit I have picked back up is eating chips, so I need to watch that. :S

Week 12 and I dropped 4lbs - the most I have in a single week since the initial week 😮 Only 2.8 away from onderland, and today my BMI is 30 - so this better be the last time I'm in the Obese category! I don't want to go here again.
I would like to reach 190 by the time I go on go on vacation at the end of September. This week's loss gives me hope that I can reach it.

I am a somewhat slower loser too. 35 pounds since surgery 5 months ago. It keeps coming off though. Try not to compare yourself to others and just focus on the downward trend. Many people on here say they continue to lose for like two years so the weight should come off even if it takes a little longer than you’d hoped.

Hang in there...some start slowly. As long as you are walking and sticking to the diet plan it will start to come off.

I was talking to my program coordinator this morning before my surgery in a couple weeks. She said it is perfectly normal to have emotional ups and downs. It happens to a large percentage of people who have had the procedure. It will pass...stick to the plan.

My stall lasted almost three weeks but then I dropped a couple pounds right away. There is no need to change anything the stall will break.

First your Dr. is an ass and doesnt know what he is talking about. Dont worry about him.
I kept a journal and I was a slow loser too. I also lost 19lbs the first 6 weeks after surgery. Slow losers cant compare themselves to others but you can make goal sticking to the plan. I also was 48 when I had my initial surgery.
Hang in there !! You can do this.

My surgery was on 7/13, and I had my first day back at work as a teacher today. It went really well, and I didn't run out of energy even though we went from 7:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. (open house). I think it helped that I was prepared with plenty of foods and I ate a few times.
We had a staff luncheon and I was a little worried what people might say because I haven't told most of them about the surgery. I ended up putting more on my plate than I plan to eat, and I slowly ate a small portion of those things. Nobody seemed to notice.
One more exciting thing for me: I went shopping for some new school clothes yesterday and I had to keep bringing back the bigger sizes for smaller ones! I got a couple of pairs of pants that were 14s and a few 16s and some shirts that were either XL or 1XL. The scale doesn't move very rapidly for me, so it was nice to see this NSV. I hope everybody else is doing well and getting back into the swing of things!

Hi, everyone! I am a little late to the party, but I just had surgery on Tuesday, July 27, and I’m excited to have found a group of people who are on the same timeline as me.
It’s 4:07am, so obviously I’m not sleeping through the night yet, but I feel pretty good overall. I have had some big feelings, though, of being very worried that I’m going to be miserable about this choice I made, even though prior to surgery I was so positive and upbeat about it. Anyone else having that mental struggle?

Today is 9 days since my surgery. "Head Hunger" is a real thing because I am not hungry physically but I want to eat. I'm keeping up with the Protein. I feel fully recovered, just some tenderness where the incisions are.
I've only lost 4 pounds. Maybe this isn't going to work for me.

    Hey July Surgery People!
I got home yesterday and cannot believe how tired I have been since the surgery. I am usually able to function on little sleep, and I don't typically nap. This is a totally different level of tired than I have ever felt. That has been my biggest side-effect or symptoms after surgery.
My surgery was actually an hour earlier than scheduled. Everyone was nice at the hospital. I woke up in the recovery room, but just wanted to sleep.
I was brought up to my room about an hour after surgery. My husband stayed with me, but I all I did was sleep or respond with my eyes closed when he asked me anything.
My first sips of Water went down without pain, but I noticed if I took a bigger sip, I felt it going down. I did ok with broth and tea, but was not in the mood for anything.
My incision sites were not painful, but my stomach felt like I had the worst hunger pangs ever. I also felt the gas that was pumped in my belly.
Day 2, I felt a little less pain and was a little less sleepy. I was able to eat more broth than the day before. I was discharged around noon, and returned home to my little cuties. I did not want broth when I got home, but I had some sugar-free Jello. My husband made the kids fish sticks and they smelled awful. I couldn't walk into the kitchen. Slept well over night.
Day 3 (today), my parents came to help with the kids & I have really only wanted water and jello. I started Vitamins & prilosec again. Stomach & incision pain is very mild. It is so weird that I feel hungry, but don't want anything. I took a big nap in the afternoon, so I still have very little energy.
Tomorrow I start full liquid diet, so hopefully, I will get a little more energy & will be able to have things besides broth.
So far, I can't complain, it hasn't been as bad as I prepared myself for. I hope it continues to go well. Wishing everyone well with their progress. 😊🥰

Had surgery 27th 14:00 and I am experiencing all those things + serious right shoulder pain. That is actually the worst thing for me now. It is so sharp and makes it difficult to do anything. But I do think it is normal and can't wait to feel better.

Thanks for the reassuring reply ❤️ @eholmes89

    Hi Billy!

Congratulations on your surgery, this is the start of your new life… 👍🏻😊
All those questions are very valid and normal to be asking. I am 2 weeks post op.
    1. Yes, this is normal. Your stomach is very swollen and tender. I struggled to sit up from laying down and needed some help to begin with. My incisions are still delicate to touch and felt like they pulled when I moved. I found a hot water bottle helped sometimes. But this will get better with time.

    2. I didn’t pass stools until the 10th day after surgery. Also in terms of gas I think it was 8-9 days post surgery. My dietician told me as long as I wasn’t experiencing symptoms on Constipation this was normal as my body adjusts to the lack of food. If your feeling like you need to ‘go’ and it’s painful speak to your nurse.
    3. I didn’t personally experience this. But I’m guessing it’s to do with the gas. Keep moving as much as you can without straining yourself. Failing that call your nurse for more advice.

    4. This is normal. Your stomach is swollen and adapting to the stitches and size. I really struggled with Water to start, I moved onto sugar free juice this helped settle my tummy more. Sometimes sleevers do struggle with water only, warm tea can also help. I also get stomach spasm everytime i sneeze!!

5.Hiccups for me is a sign my stomach is full. It will get full very quickly in the first few days. I also struggled to burp sometimes with feelings of a ball in my chest. I used Infacol and Gaviscon to help With this. It does go away over time.. just remember to keep sipping slowly on avoid dehydration.
If you have anymore questions the bunch of people on here are really helpful and they will answer as best they can to make you feel better ❤️‍🩹
