  1. first off, i'm super proud of you!

the next few days are going to be hard - but you've got this! you've made this huge choice for yourself, and even getting to this part has been a journey, this is just one of the suckier parts of it!

i had to do four weeks of pre-op with my surgeon, so can promise it's going to get easier and you've got a whole community to build you up if you struggle!

  2. super proud of you and excited for this part of your journey!

losing carbs was my biggest concern pre-op, and i found myself so focused on it that it made the pre-op and immediate post-op process a lot more difficult. but since then i've learned some important lessons:

    - that there are LOTS of carb free things or carb alternatives that are actually incredible (cauli and broc rice - is so good)

    - tastes can change after surgery and some things that used to rule my life don't even phase me anymore

    - carbs ain't all bad! you still get to enjoy them without guilt whenever you want to/can!

  3. i got offered a new job with a locked start date... 6 days after surgery.

like you - its an office job and i sit at a desk aside from walking to the printer, to the bathroom or kitchen, so minimal movement. the first week was rough - i was exhausted and probably quite strange to be around. but i found that it helped me adjust to the changes - so have a think about what works for you - if you need the routine of it to stick to your goals, maybe try going back sooner. or even less hours per day/week as you ease back into work.

  4. hey bari-team!

i'm about 8 months post-op (march 9, 2021) and i've run into a little problem the last couple of days.

so i've completely regressed... essentially feeling about food/liquid like i did in the immediate post-op. all hunger is gone, and when i do eat i can't keep anything down. i'm trying a Protein Shake today, but even liquids are making me feel gross.

before the last couple of days, i haven't had any issues with food/liquid intake, except for the occasional over-eating, so this is really unexpected.

has anyone experienced something similar this long after surgery?

  5. so i've beating myself up for a month for not being where my dietitian had indicated where i should be.

as per her advice i should have been back on solid food this week + i just haven't been able to stomach it, so feeling defeated and like something is wrong with me.

met with my surgeon this morning and he immediately shut down what my dietitian had told me, and clarified that he wanted me back on soft foods for at least another week.

so i've gotta know, what's the worst thing a medical professional has had you do through your WLS journey?

The first month has the infamous 3 week stall averaged in....and it can ruin your average. Next month will be better. Don't panic. Stick to your program.

    Thank you!

I think I'm mostly panicked because I've been stalled for three weeks, rather than just in week three 😓

Sounds extremely normal to me. Would help if we knew your weight stats.

    sorry! i’m new to this!

so i was at 183kg (403pounds) before preop, 164kg (361 pounds) on the day of my sleeve and i’ve fluctuated between there and 158kg since my surgery.

im 5”10, if that offers any other assistance?

thank you for saying it sounds normal though, i need that

  8. so i’m officially one month post op.

im seeing my surgeon for my first follow up tomorrow, but i can’t stop seem to stop focusing on how much weight i haven’t lost this month.

pre op i lost 20kg (44 pounds) but post op i’ve only lost 6kg (14 pounds) in a month.

does anyone else who had a slow first month have any tips? i’m feeling so disheartened.

    ❤️
