I spent over a month in the hospital. The surgery went well, but I had a few infections and much dehydration. The post-op for gastric bypass/RNY is not as I expected; yet I was told I am "not an anomaly." The challenges post op for my surgery is experienced by many, but I understand it is a bit different for everyone. I'm speaking about dehydration, etc. I expected - even hoping - I would have little to no appetite, but I never expected this. It is difficult to drink water or take a small bite of food. Everything is nauseating and I carry a "barf bag" everywhere I go. My family and I are disappointed with the lack of attention post-op. And frankly, I wasn't prepared that my situation was even a thing.  Thankfully, I have an awesome PCP who is now helping. But it's a long road, and I pray I can progress.
