Yup, this is pretty much it. Don't take this personally. In fact, consider it him doing you a favor because if he can't support your new eating (and drinking) way of life then that is not someone you want around. And if can't see all of the other wonderful things you bring to the table, that is his selfish choice. You need a strong man, not this wimp!

I am almost 2 weeks from surgery (5/10) but between the 2 week pre-op and liquids since surgery, I can finally feel comfortable wearing a shirt that does NOT cover my butt!

Hey all! I was sleeved on 5/10 and feeling absolutely great. I have had no complications and can stomach just about everything I eat (on plan) at this point. Although, like others have recently mentioned, my tastes have changed and sometimes I get sad when I think about going the rest of my life not being able to gorge on food. The thought of a buffet gives me anxiety because really - what do you choose when you want to choose it all?!
Only discomfort I have started to get recently is the scar tissue under my skin where the incisions were. My doctor said to expect this because during surgery nerve-endings were cut and as they start to heal you can start to feel where the surgery happened. It's not painful at all. It just feels like a bruise when I press on it to clean in shower or something rubs up against it.
Anyone else have this now being that you are at least 4 weeks out from surgery?
Oh, and does anyone else think about the surgery and food and Protein and Water and what to have to eat that day like every waking moment? For me, it's obsessive. I have been losing on average half a pound a day so I sit there and calculate how many more days/months it will take to loose X amount of weight and I even factor in losing less a day as my BMI drops. Seriously, I feel crazy! haha

Surgery was may 10. I feel like I have gotten my life back. I have had no issues, other than calibrating the poop factory part. I have had several non-scale victories: fitting into clothes that have been boxed for a couple years, fitting into the bath tub, less foot aching, played tennis with my 9 year-old, played frisbee with my family, I walk daily and love it, etc. I have consistently loss each week. I miss salad. (I am on soft foods--apparently I can't have raw veggies until 3 months our). My chewable vitamins are my deserts. I feel very good about so much, but my mind won't let me feel totally secure--I fret over what life will be like three years from now. To safeguard from that eventuality I simply follow doctor's orders. I think of myself as being somewhat disabled...no I can't have that, or that, or that.... But perhaps that is a way to look at it. My body wants to be fat. That's my disability I live with.

1 month update: I lost 34.5 total (since 5/1) and 23.5 since surgery (5/11). I feel great, try to walk about 2 miles a day and do a lot of work around the house, including gardening. I found I can eat almost anything, as long as at each meal I eat 2 oz or less (definitely have to scale everything). I end up eating about 5 meals a day, and I am able to get the 80 grams of Protein as I focus a lot on fish. I've adventured to try (in small bite-sized quantities) other things: ground meat/burger (without bun, of course), 1 rib (that was not too great --it's a bit too fatty). Have not really tried raw foods yet, except tomatoes. Have definitely noticed that need to keep drinking to be hydrated. There are some days where I am not as careful and then I need to take 3-4 hours to rehydrate, including my body waking me up during the night to go get Water. I am not hungry and it's great! (I used to be sooo hungry before, all the time!) I wonder whether people who never gained weight always have felt like I feel now (with no hunger..): It is very liberating, to be honest, to not have that thing in your stomach and head tell you that you're hungry. Thank you for listening! Hope everyone else is doing well!

I'm 4 weeks out today and I had a rough day yesterday. I was exhausted when I woke up in the morning. Had no desire to eat or drink and generally felt crappy. At some point in the late afternoon I took two bigger sips of Water and then immediately vomited. It burned like heck, my throat was burning for probably 2 hours afterwards even with drinking more and trying to wash it away.
I'm fairly certain I did not drink enough the day before so I woke up feeling crappy and then continued to not drink well for the first half of the day. I focused on fluids over eating in the afternoon and I feel better today. So I do not recommend even slight dehydration, no fun.

I had to remove the band after 10 yrs. I did lose over 50 lbs but only when stayed on the diet and lived at the gym. Moving stopped the contact with my surgeon and slowly it all came back. It was removed after a year of throwing up every night several times a night. It had slipped after a bad stomach bug. Pandemic slowed the actual surgery until this April. Had a huge hernia as well. Now have IBS and hope to get that under control and hope it’s just shock from the surgery n no gall bladder. I’ve lost 25 lbs which is good, but when will I be free of my stomach issues. Not sure if it’s the IBS or not, but my appetite has changed, and can go with out meals easily. Going to a digestive center the 24th. I do not think it worked for me because of my lifestyle of stress n not exercising.

also, I don't think most patients end up with a sick look. Some do, but I don't think most of us do. And like I said, most patients never even make it to normal weight let alone get too thin - they end up "overweight" or "class I obese" (which is, of course, infinitely better than being super morbidly obese....). Here's me at my lowest weight - and where my body naturally stopped losing. I was at a normal BMI (still am), which if you'll look at stats, only 10-15% of WLS patients are able to make it to. So there'd be a pretty small percentage of people become too thin - smaller than the 10-15% who make it to a normal BMI. Again, yes, some - but chances of that are pretty low. I'd focus on losing as much weight as you can during the early months - but of course, while eating according to your plan. You need the nutrition.

14 lbs in two weeks is a lot, especially given your starting weight isn't nearly as high as some of ours was. I lost 16 lbs the whole first MONTH and I started out at 373 lbs. Not sure what you were expecting, but your loss is very normal . If you're trying to compare your loss to the people on "My 600 lb Life", don't. Those people start off MUCH heavier than the average WLS patient, and starting BMI has a huge effect on how much weight you lose initially. You are fine.

I'm happy to say that the scale has begun to slowly yet surely move again. I'm only 3 additional pounds down, but I'm still happy to see a change. I really was going into a pretty bad funk.

People are free to share their medical information - or not. If people want to share they've had surgery - fine. If they don't - fine. I don't run around telling everyone I've had extensive plastic surgery, either. I'm having a face lift this summer - another surgery I haven't notified the world of - just my immediate family and a couple of close friends.

I am glad that I've been able to lose a massive amount of weight via WLS, but I am sad that I, too, have experienced chronic nausea, cramping, and diarrhea for more than 1 1/2 years.

I am on the fence about regret. I have not felt well since the surgery and deal with extreme nausea and vomit up anything over 3 bites. I have felt so weak and not with it not being able to eat enough to be healthy yet. I am praying this will go away soon!!!

I am 6 weeks post op and have no regrets. I’m actually relieved that I was forced to change my relationship with food because now I can look at things and think “I’m not even hungry” or “that doesn’t even sound good” and I move on.
