Burning in stomach 12 months post-op

Thanks for the replies! My primary care doctor gave me ulcer medication to try for 2 months, so hopefully that takes care of it!
  2. Hi all - I’ve been trying to get into my surgeon’s office but they’re really booked out. As I keep trying, I wanted to see if anyone has experienced this post-op. (Sleeved 2/2021) Since December, I’ve frequently been experiencing a burning sensation in the lower left part of my stomach, regardless of what I do or don’t eat. I’ve taken Prilosec and it helps temporarily, but the feeling is getting more intense. I don’t have any reflux/heartburn symptoms or acid coming up…just the pain below. I’m going to see my primary care doctor for it next week, but was wondering if anyone had this? I’ve heard of GERD being a common post-op side effect, but this is nothing like the gastric reflux I had before surgery. Makes me think it’s an ulcer but would be grateful to know if anyone had these symptoms too. Thanks!

Post-op Portions help (1 month out)

Thanks everyone. I’m now at Week 6 and down about 35lbs since the last week of Feb (had a few stalls) I’m still eating about 5-6 oz per “main” meal with Protein and drinking in larger quantities than before. The Prilosec has helped a little with the “fake hunger” pangs but not much. I meet with the nutritionist tomorrow and will see what she says vs what the doctor has said. I’ll keep you posted :)

Bariatric Fusion Vitamins & Lead Warning

    Thanks for all the info!
  5. My bariatric nutritionist and doctor’s office recommended the Bariatric Fusion brand of chewable multivitamins to take 4x daily basically for the rest of my life. When reading the package, there’s a Proposition 65 warning: “Warning: consuming this product can expose you to chemicals including lead, which are known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm.” I didn’t find much after searching online aside from a lawsuit and settlement agreement about lead in their products from 2018, and related health and safety code violation. (https://www.oag.ca.gov/prop65/60-Day-Notice-2017-02545) Does anyone have any insight on this? I’m thinking if I need to take these for the rest of my life, I should be switching to a safer brand! Thanks

Post-op Portions help (1 month out)

Thank you all for the feedback. I’ve definitely noticed the trend here and on other forums to win a “smallest portion” contest, and it made me question if I was doing something wrong. Your comments helped validate for me that there’s no universal way to experience this process. I think the main thing is that if you’re continuing to lose weight, the tool is working, and to just keep moving forward - congrats to all of us :)
  7. I was sleeved the last week of February and am now on the soft foods diet for the next few weeks. I’ve lost 28lbs in 4 weeks (am in a little of a stall currently). I’ve found that I can eat and drink more than I expected at this stage (approx 4 - 6 oz per “soft” meal). I spoke with my doctor’s office and they said it can vary for everyone depending on swelling, and that I should go by my feeling of fullness as the indicator. Basically, my body will let me know when I’ve exceeded my limit. I’ve read countless posts about people who can only eat 2 - 4 oz of food at this stage (or even as little as 3 bites) and I’m getting paranoid that I’m overeating and don’t want to sabotage myself. Even the guidelines given by the nutritionist call for 4oz, and it seems a little contradictory to what the doctor’s office is saying. Has anyone else had a similar experience, and were you still successful? Thanks!
