I know you might not have lost a lot of weight but how do you feel? Everyone always asks how much weight have l lost. I don't weigh myself regularly my surgery was on April 15th but I went from 11 meds to 4 meds, I can walk my dog at the park without getting out of breath after a few steps. My A1C is almost normal. You have to not stress the actual weight loss but the good things that come with the surgery. Hang in there.

Hello All, I had sleeve April 15, total down 55 pounds. I was stalling alot it seemed until I started grazing and than it's slow but steady weight loss. The full meal's were not working for me. I am amazed at how food changes constantly. I was loving watermelon and now can't tolerate and eggs. And things I didn't like before surgery I am enjoying now. So strange. Anyway, keep up the good work and I hope we all talk again 5 months out. Peace

One of my tipping points was seeing on my medical charts. Morbid Obesity, what a horrible diagnosis to see. The second was finding out I was going to be a grandma for the first time that we thought would never happen. So happy. Post op 9 weeks now and doing great. So grateful

Today I reached 2 months post, doctor said I can start regular diet starting today, honestly I have been on a semi regular diet for a couple of weeks now. Mostly just alot of chicken and veggies. I am getting so good at chicken recipes I should write a book lol. I am in California and we are having a heat wave, so I'm trying to get some walking in early am, but seriously not a morning person, so pretty much settling for YouTube work outs. Wishing well to all.

I am almost 8 weeks post surg, I am doing great, lost weight, I was on 3 diabetes meds and now only 1, Gerd is doing good, I was on 11 meds and now only 4 including bariatric Vitamins. I am so blessed that I have not had a bad experience with my sleeve surgery as others, beyond the first week. My only problem is still BM issues, but I am dealing with it. I am so happy I did this. Hang in there I know it will get better for you all soon. God Bless

Ricotta Bake--8 oz. Ricotta, half cup grated parmesan cheese, 1 large egg beaten, 1 tsp Italian herbs, salt & pepper, half cup Pasta Sauce, half cup reduced fat mozzarella cheese. Preheat oven 425, mix all together but sauce and mozzarella. Put in baking dish, top with sauce and mozzarella. Bake for 20-25 ,minutes. Let cool slightly.....yummy and I don't even like Ricotta

Wow, your the only other person I have noticed that mentioned the runny nose, it's so strange but I sneeze than blow my nose and it's gone. I'm going to have to ask the doctor about that one, weird.

I have surgery on April 26th at 8 am. But I have a story to tell. I had the lap band back in 2013. It was successful and I lost 30 lbs. I had to really exercise to keep my weight in check but I looked and felt great. Then, unfortunately, I had serious complications and I had to take it out the band last year during COVID. I had been thin for so long that I felt very in control. I was exercising as a lifestyle and not to lose weight. I truly enjoyed it. Then in one year, I gained 45 lbs because I was having other health issues that prevented me from exercising my normal routine. The doctor said it was perimenopause, it was the steroids I took, etc... I was so down I cannot even begin to tell you. Then I became a bit depressed and literally hid from the world and gained yet another 15 lbs. I did not understand what i was doing wrong. I did everything to lose weight. Jenny Craig, street rider bicycle, Noom, you name it I tried it and nothing. Every time I stepped on the scale I went up. so awful.
I have decided to do this with the clear understanding that i have to work at it again to stay slim. You really have to put in the leg work. This is a great tool and I pray I lose the now 60 lbs I have to lose. I will try my hardest but diet is everything and I am reaching menopause which will only make it even harder.
So here I am looking for support and enjoying hearing other people's success stories.

I had surgery same day as you on 4/15, one week yesterday. My Gerd has been so bad it scares me to drink to much of anything, been also having hard time getting all my fluids in daily , sucking on rolaids does help my acid and like the previous most said I strain lite Soups and use as broths. Popsicles have been good also, Are you still on pain meds?

I had never even thought about it until someone else had said something about how well I tolerated the prep that maybe I could of just stated on it to lose weight, I have over 100 pounds to lose 2 pounds a week would of taken me forever, I had the surgery a week ago and already down 18 pounds from surgery date. It's your mind trying to fool you .Good luck all with surgery's the rest of the month

My surgery is feeling very real now, having just booked a taxi to get myself to the hospital on Sunday morning (April 25th). The hospital is a 1hr drive away which isn't great (largely because of the added taxi expense) but there was a 12 month wait at my nearest hospital whereas its only been 1 month since my initial phone call to this one (I'm in the UK, paying privately).

I've lost 24lbs in a bit over 3 weeks of pre op diet and got a 50lb total loss from my highest weight a year ago today as I did Keto for 11 months before the pre op. I've come a long way over the last year, and regularly cook, shop for and have in the house lots of foods that previously I couldn't have resisted (I'm taking about you, pizza, ice cream and biscuits) without finding it a problem. I've also happily gone through the drive through with my (slim) husband and felt perfectly content with my Protein Water.

There was a question earlier about doubts following a successful pre op diet. For me, having lost a lot of weight in the past and losing quickly on my pre op, I'm happy to have surgery. Research shows that for many reasons including hunger hormones, metabolism and fat cell activity weight loss surgery makes it significantly easier not just to lose weight but to maintain that loss. The way I see it from my research and experience is that losing weight through diet leaves you slim but in a body that physiologically is doing everything it can to get you back to being fat. Surgery leaves you slim in a body that has in a sense been reset to being slim and is not trying to get fat again. Do it by diet and you'll be left fighting your body as well as your mind to maintain. Do it by surgery and you don't have to fight your body, just keep control of your mind. That's much more achievable.

Preparation wise I've got lots of protein water and shakes ready that I know I like plus chewable bariatric Vitamins. I'm feeling very settled on the liquid diet which I'm glad about as I think it'll make the post surgery transition easuer.

I've treated myself to a new pair of headphones with alexa built in to make my hospital time and recovery a bit more convenient. I bought a giant cosy dressing gown for a bit of comfort. And I've sorted all my outdoor sports gear /books /maps etc which have ended up in the loft after a blissful period having lost 140lbs about 12 years ago that didn't last very long before it all came back. I've read a whole load about bariatric surgery and nutrition and have lots of self improvement books lined up to read or listen to to help me keep working on me, not just my weight and relationship with food.

I'm so excited about my new life and feel very determined and prepared.

Loads of waffle there... Can you tell I'm excited?!

@BRittenhouse I'm sorry your having such a bad time, I don't have 7 children but I do have a lot of animals that can't understand why they can't sit on me and why I can't play much. I had mine on 4/15 and still only on clear Water and stomach feels like severe cramps, I did wake up today and the pain was a lot less, so all I can say is Day by Day, do you have a support system to help? Hang in there, it's got to get better 🙏

I heard people had difficulty with this so I avoided anything super cold in the hospital. I just had my surgery Friday. I let anything super cold sit in my mouth. Today (Sunday) I am drinking ice Water and was able to have a sugar free popsicle. I think everyone is different unfortunately. I was scared to try cold things but was dying for something cold so I just tried it and was lucky. I’ve always been able to drink with absolutely no issues since my surgery on Friday. Hope this turns around for you and it’s only temporary!
