Based on my personal experience, you’ll be able to do most things by yourself. Make sure you clean your house thoroughly before the surgery and get all necessary groceries. I didn’t do any laundry or clean the house the first week. I also was afraid to walk our 200 pound dog the first few day, just in case he’d pull on the line very suddenly. But other than that I did everything myself. Even went home alone the day after surgery (about 4 hours public transportation to a different country).
After about 5 days I felt good enough to do groceries, walk the dog and do some cleaning. But again, this was my personal experience.

Physically I could have gone back to work after a week (desk job), but I found that the first week(s) it’s quite hard to get your Water in AND figure out some kind of eating schedule, so I was very happy with the 3 weeks I took.

I mix unflavored Protein Powder with a little bit of flavored powder. Takes the sweetness down a lot. My unflavored powder has kind of a weird taste when I only mix that with milk/water/yoghurt, but when adding a little bit of flavored powder, it masks that weird taste and gives it just enough flavour/sweetness. Try it!
I can’t recommend any brands since I live in Europe.

I contacted my surgeon, he put me back on liquids and prescribed strong anti acids like you mentioned.
I’m feeling better already.

I'm doing a Mud Run in a couple weeks and I confess that I have spent more time trying to figure out what to wear that weekend vs actual training!
Got these running pants and sports bra delivered today and decided this is what I'm gonna wear. Suitable for getting muddy, yes?
I guess now I can spend more time preparing for the run! 😂
P.S. Yes, I still wear scar tape on my arms!

I posted back in August about my surgery getting canceled because of a covid surge in my area. I was devastated and facing losing my insurance. As luck would have it, I got to keep my insurance another month and was rescheduled for tomorrow. I have been trying really hard not to get my hopes up, but I just had my pre-op appointment and so far everything is a go. I’m crossing every appendage I have that tomorrow goes off without a hitch. I’m supposed to check in at the hospital at 10 am.

I just realized I can walk upstairs carrying something. I was bringing an end table up from our basement and I walked up carrying it without having to stop or hold on. For years now I would have to prop the item on each step to get it upstairs because I could not go upstairs without holding on, AND I couldn't alternate legs going upstairs. I feel so normal now. It's surreal sometimes!

First day of the puréed stage today. Made the famous ricotta bake and it was soooo good! So glad to be eating something again!

Had my VSG on wednesday morning en was able to leave the next morning. Everything went well, although I'm having some nausea and gas pains. Hopefully that will go away soon. Trying to get my fluids in, but it's a lot harder than expected.
Also haven't eaten anything yet. When was the first time you ate something? They told me fluids are more important, so I'm focussing on that now. Might try some broth or Protein Water tomorrow. The idea of a sweet Protein Shake alone makes me nauseas right now.

Today is the day for me. Waiting to be checked in. Getting kinda nervous.

I'm scheduled for Friday, the 27th in Orlando. This is my 3rd ever surgery, so I'm more than a little nervous. I've been tracking calories since early July and have been on the pre-surgery diet since Friday the 13th (right!?). So far, down 30 lbs. from 350 lbs.
So.. here we go.

I'm very excited but also a bit nervous. Still going back and forth wether this is the right choice for me.
I know I'll probably never lose the weight without the surgery, but I'm afraid I'll fall back into old habits after having the surgery. Is anybody else having these doubt/concerns?

Day 3 I could eat creamed Soups, sf pudding, yogurt. Day 15 I started soft/purée foods. eggs, tuna, avocado, mashed veggies and purée meats. I don’t get any more solid foods til the 5th week. As for the gas walk walk walk the more I walked the better I felt. I also used gas x

Are you allowed caffeine? If so Amazon, Walmart and costco (I just heard they are on sale this month there on another thread) have Premier Protein shakes and the caffe latte was the first shake I liked post surgery. Before I found that I did their clear Protein Drinks. It’s fruit punch but somehow not nearly as sweet as many of the shakes. Lots of brands make the clear Protein if you don’t like fruit punch. Hope this helps.

Congrats. I had my sleeve Monday morning. I was scared too. But all went well, went home Tuesday. Gas pain. Trying to drink more fluids. Good luck 🤗

Honestly, after having a horrible experience at work, I am looking forward the most to not having to worry whether I’ll fit in the largest size of work clothing available. Not being able to fit in something, whether it’s clothes, amusement park rides or an airplane seat is one of the most embarrassing feelings in the world in my opinion. 😞

Well guys I’m officially on the losers bench ! Had surgery Thursday morning8/12, two nights in the hospital and now I’m headed home 😊

I’m having the surgery on Wednesday. Should be able to leave the hospital on Thursday. My BF isn’t able to come get me either. I plan on taking a taxi or the train, depending on how I’m feeling. They never mentioned anything about someone having to be there to pick me up. Getting kinda worried now reading the comments. If it’s a requirement, they should have mentioned it imo.

I can’t wait till I have the surgery. So ready to start my new life.
Had a horrible experience at work today. Had to put on a lab coat and overalls and they didn’t fit properly. Could barely move in them. Felt so embarrassed. Had the same thing a few weeks ago when trying the new uniform. They didn’t have my size so I had to try men’s sizes. So embarrassing and it looked horrible. I am so ready to never feel this way again.
I just finished week one of the pre-op diet my surgeon gave me. Just one more week. By this time next week I’ll be done. Can’t wait. 🤞🏻
