I finally remembered to take pics before and after! This is a green chef meal - kale salad, balsamic mushrooms, and steak. I added a Gorgonzola sauce on to the steak! Soo “yummy delicious” as my kids say.

What helped me with the gas was just moving/walking around. As for the sleepiness, that went away after the first two weeks once I moved into the puree stage. Otherwise those first two weeks I would be sitting here falling asleep off and on throughout the day.

You’re so newly sleeved so give yourself some time. You probably have a lot of fluids and gas still in you from your surgery. A lot of those foods might have high sodium which contributes to bloat. Lots of Water helps and later, potassium rich food.

I found this recipe for spinach and feta rugelach online and I just happened to have everything to make them in my fridge sooo I made spinach and feta rugelach and I have to say, they’re super tasty but very rich. I think I’ll use some of that balsamic onion jam and some dill havarti I have to make another batch. …. I wonder if they freeze well. 🤔

I truly feel your pain; it's been 2 1/2 weeks for me (post op since April 28) and it's happening a few pounds shy of "onederland" which is torturing me further. I have been exercising my butt off, too. It did coincide with my soft food phase which I am still doing. My common sense tells me that my digestive system must be trying to readjust. I also notice that my bms are much less frequent which tells me I probably need to do better with H2O intake and fiber. Are any of my observations something you can relate to? I wonder if I will ever get back to the rapid pace of my 1st month weight loss.

    Hi everyone!

Made it to the other side of this interesting journey!
Just want to share a couple things for others waiting on surgeries!
I have had an easier time so far then most which I am so thankful for. I’m basically pain free other then discomfort internally, but can’t even really call it pain.
Walk as soon as you can in the hospital. It really helps. Drink super slow out of little 15ml
medicine cups. Listen to your body and what it needs ( liquids, rest, walking etc.)
In the hospital I felt bad because I could hear others struggling really bad! I was worried that it was just a matter of time before I had their issues, but luckily I didn’t. I’m still very early post op and I except issues will come up. I keep asking myself “what the heck did I just do” kinda like a shock that I did this, but I always come back to the realization that I just saved my own life!
The surgery is well worth it and necessary, but do not underestimate it because the struggle is real!
Please reach out if any one has an questions! Good luck to everyone waiting for surgery and those that have already had it!
  12. Congrats!

Ugh yeah it sucks to be in a stall but you just had your surgery 3 months ago? I wouldn’t think you’re done losing.
Maybe if you hit week 3 with no movement, call your nutritionist?
I just had a 2 week stall and then dropped 12 in 8 days. My body was clearly holding onto it and finally just let it go. We can only control our behavior, not the outcome on the scale.

As of last Tuesday, I was in a 2 week stall. Even knowing it was normal and inevitable, it felt terrible. I let myself feel down for a day and then I increased my Protein intake and started resistance band training (I was exactly 8 weeks out). I also incorporated more potassium rich food to combat sodium bloat.

Today I went in for my 2 month follow up and I’m down 12 pounds from last Tuesday, 32 since surgery, and 45 from my starting weight.

I’m sure the stall would’ve broken on it’s own but I feel good about the adjustments and I’m enjoying short resistance workouts.

Hoping anyone else in a stall right now feels hopeful after reading this!

So for those of you who have been following my posts. My doc had told me to take Miralax every single day due to Constipation. When I was no longer constipated and now getting diarrhea every day, I called the office and they told me to cut down to every other day. Then when that wasn't working either, I called them again and they told me to keep taking it no matter what. So I had to make my own decision at that point and stopped taking it all together. It has been over a week now and I have been regular. I am not one to tell others not to listen to their docs, but I know my own body, and had to do what I thought was right for me at the time. Sometimes the docs are not always right.

That's great about the strawberry and honestly, I consider my plan overly cautious. I figure I know my body better than anyone and one plan doesn't fit all. Some soft foods I've handled well include tuna salad on lettuce leaves ( just chew, chew, chew like crazy), very flaky halibut, tiny pieces of shrimp mixed with cocktail sauce and bits of avocado, 1 egg mixed with egg white, lactaid milk and salsa (cooks up very light and wet). That's my soft Protein go tos.
Frozen fruit and fresh fruit like Strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries blended with Glucerna vanilla Protein Powder, lil Spinach, almond milk or coconut Water comprises my smoothie mix.
Dairy is usually cottage cheese with blueberries or baby bell soft cheese. Sooo good. I'm down 35 #s in 38 days now.
Veggies are soft string Beans in can and boiled carrots. Can't stomach cauliflower for some reason.
I eat every 3 hours or so and exercise every day; weightlifting, treadmill, recumbent and flex bike. Trail walks. My problem though is eating too late. Feel full till next day afternoon.
sugar free hard caramel candies by Werthers are also my treat.
I guess my whole point is that everyone is different and we just have to find our own happy place which I do with tiny bites of new things.
    Good luck!

WanderingHeart reacted to HealthyLifeStyle in Nutritionist was NO help at all
Just got off the phone with my nutritionist and she didn't help me at all.
For those of you who have been following my posts, you know I had some questions for her.
I asked her if I had to keep drinking 8 cups of Water per day and let her know that I had to cut down to 6 because I get way too full even at this stage (9 months out), and then can't eat, and am losing more weight and can not maintain. Her answer was "Yes you have to drink 8 cups (64 oz.) of water per day".
Then I asked if other liquids count towards the goal. Her answer was, "Yes, and you have to drink 8 cups of water per day also." Well that makes no sense.
I then asked what could I do to gain a few lbs. Her answer was to "drink full fat milk, eat nuts, Peanut Butter or Almond Butter". I told her that I eat those things everyday, but can not drink milk due to lactose intolerance. Then she says, "Ok so eat yogurt, cottage cheese, and cheese". I told her that I can not do that because those things are dairy. So then she tells me to drink whole milk, instead of my almond milk.
By now I am ready to start yelling at her. I know she wasn't paying attention to me.
Then she tells me to eat more often, so I tell her that I already eat 5-6 times a day to which she tells me that I should be eating 5-6 times a day. LOL I give up. WTF lady?
She also told me I should be having more Protein so I tell her about my Constipation issues and that I already eat 90-100 grams of protein a day. I let her know that the doc says I need to cut back a little bit on this, and she tells me that I should be drinking protein water. OMG!! Whatever.
So now I am just going to have to do it my way, and see whatever works for me. I am going to cut back my water intake to 4 cups a day so I am not so full, and hopefully can eat more. I also will cut my protein down. I don't know what else to do at this point. I need to be able to eat more so I can put some weight back on.
Any advice would be wonderful. Thanks

    Hi April Sleevers,
Some of us are hitting the 2 month mark this week. Congrats! Hope you all are doing well.
I ate a tiny bit of salad for the first time and two small bites of watermelon. The salad was chopped into tiny pieces, lol. This is my first time eating raw vegetables and fruit. No problems with either. I kept the salad ingredients simple to test out just a few raw veggies at one time. Just tried a tiny bit. Its watermelon season so I'm hopeful that I can use it as a snack. I know some programs discourage eating fruit due to sugar, but my program allows a little bit of fruit. 🙂
    Happy 2nd month surgerversary!!
