    Hot Chip Lovers Rejoice

I made a taco salad with the taco flavored ones! taco meat, cheese, pico de Gallo, avocado, and green leaf lettuce from my garden. So tasty! But they get soggy so you’d prob want to only mix into what you’re going to eat so the leftovers would be chip free until you eat those.
  2. I completely agree with this. In fact, I believe that sustained change can only come from a place of love and approval. When we try to change from a place of self hate, there’s a place inside of us that doesn’t want to change - it wants to rebel. So we fight ourselves. Before my surgery, I wrote a list of gratitudes for my strong, resilient, responsive body.
  3. I hear you. Have some compassion for yourself!! I’ve been enjoying the KB smoothie which has a decent amount of protein with no dairy and it has helped my digestion.
  4. another thought - Kelly brogan has a dietary protocol that has shown to heal parasympathetic disorders like anxiety, depression, adhd. It’s basically clean eating with no gluten or dairy. Giving it a shot this week! I also bought her book - Own Your Self
  5. Mine are also 140 - iconic

    Paleo easy homemade pancakes

1/2 cup organic sweet potato 3 pasture raised eggs 1.5 Tbsp raw almond butter (just almonds on ingredient list) combine and cook like pancakes for a few min on both sides with coconut oil. I topped with sliced banana.
  7. My stepfather tried to bribe me to lose weight with a whole new wardrobe when I was 14. He constantly judges women’s value on their body and whether or not they are married. I’ve told my mother that I do not want comments from him on my weight loss. He’s stuck to it.
  8. So I’m not going to say what most people would say on here. Food rules can help lose weight but there is a reason for a high frequency of regain. When the rules are relaxed, your body wants to make up for that time. Rachel Goodman is a dietician who has a program on food freedom. She helps identify food rules and steer more towards intuitive eating with a nutritional focus. If you are 8 months out, this might be a good time to switch gears.

    pre-op: one last binge

I had some food funerals and I feel like it was helpful to honor my love of particular foods and say goodbye! I also didn’t gain any weight from it.

Talking to my kids about WLS

My kids are 3 (twins) so I told them I would be eating differently for a little while. I’ve talked to them a lot about how food is medicine and how foods help us stay strong and have good immune systems. I try to point out what nutrients are in the foods we eat. I have not gotten into surgery and why but I always try to avoid attributing value to certain bodies over others. I want to keep the focus on feeling healthy and strong. All bodies feel healthy and strong at different weights.

This is a weird new feeling.....

I ate an egg bite and was full and nauseous for hours! I stay away from them now.
  12. I was eating small amounts throughout the day as well, and I’m not sure how that impacted my weight loss since I only weighed myself at my two week follow up and at 1 month in. what are you eating?
  13. Wow! The scale does wild things. My nutritionist told me to stick to 3 meals a day and don’t eat outside of that. How often do you eat?
  14. The food plan is not aligned with what I believe is important. It is focused purely on losing weight and not on health and nutrition. I’ve made adjustments from the beginning to incorporate whole food but I haven’t given up dairy bc of the protein. Now that I can eat meat, I’m going paleo. thank you for your input, but I value whole food over a faster weight loss.
  15. Hey I feel you! It is okay to feel frustrated. My clothes feel loose so I was surprised to discover I’ve “only” lost 15 since my surgery. Total of 25 pounds including the pre-op diet. I know I had a hopeful vision that my weight would just drop off, but that’s not what’s happening and I let myself feel the frustration. I will say that I’m going to switch things up next week and try paleo. It’s more in line with my values, so I’m looking forward to seeing how my body responds. It does mean giving up the protein shakes but I’m going to track protein and ensure I’m still getting enough. I already prepped a few things - including cabbage and bacon soup that is delicious! Bone broth is 10g protein per serving!

Day 4 post op and nasty migraine!!

What liquids are you consuming? Any broth? You might need electrolytes like sodium
  17. It’s horrible for the first few days - not going to sugar coat. I was tired, constant headache, crabby. By day 4, I had energy and wasn’t as hungry. Be prepared for the suck fest And keep yourself busy. Avoid temptation (I couldn’t be around while my family was eating). Ask people around you to be respectful of your situation. My partner would warn me or ask permission to eat in front of me. Also if you find yourself with a headache - up your sodium. You’re not supposed to take meds, but electrolytes will help and sodium helped me. I was allowed pickles and broth.

    8 days post op stall??

At my two week follow up, I was down 8 pounds. I asked them about whether that was low and they said people are all over the place in the first few weeks and they don’t benchmark until 2 months out

    Start of Week 4

Have you tried juicing or blending veggies? Cucumber juice is very healing. Adding a squirt of lime helps with the taste.

    Severe Food Addiction

IMO anyone binging or addicted needs to address their relationship with food in addition to surgery. Check our Rachel Goodman who will help you understand where binge eating comes from or get a therapist to work through your issues. I used to get so hungry that it was hard to think- hard to figure out what to eat that is nourishing and satisfying. I started to change my relationship with food but the hunger felt like a beast that I had to quiet down by stuffing my face. So the surgery complimented my new approach.

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

All of a sudden today I have crampy/dull pain on my lower left abdomen. Anyone have similar? Know what it is?

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

Twins! I have not weighed myself except at my two week follow up where I was down 8 pounds. Most things I’ve tried have been fine, I track what I eat and how I feel and my habits (64oz+ water, walking for 30 min, vegetable juice, and vitamins). When I hit all 4, I draw balloons in my journal
