    Any March Surgeries?

Hi everyone, would love to hear how you’re all tracking now that it’s been anywhere from 2 and a half to 1 and a half months out from all of our surgeries. What have you found really works for you and is your go to food? I find eggs and tuna super filling but then find veggies and mince go down way too easily. I have found changing my food and macros every few days seems to shake things up and keep the scales moving. I would love to hear your stories and about your journey so far!!

    Menstruation after VSG

I take BC pills and didn’t have to stop for the surgery but my first TOM after the surgery was so heavy and lasted for 10 days, completely zapping my energy. Thankfully the next month after that was more normal.

    OOTD

Thanks so much for the tips, it’s all helpful!! I’ll be happy if I can consistently lose 2.2lbs a week. I definitely have to start a regular walking regime and try up my water intake. Thanks again and good luck at your 3 month check-in 😊

    Liquids/ Protein

Hi Velvet Anne, I’m 14 days post op and have only reached my water goals in the last three days. My doctor said that the water added to protein shakes counted towards the water goal otherwise there’s no way I could hit the target at the moment. 40oz of protein seems like a lot, my doc said 40 to 60 grams per day for the first two weeks. I bought a flavorless and very soluble protein powder and add that to almost everything. That could help to up the protein amount. The other stuff I bought was flavored protein water powder. Good luck and hope it gets easier for you.

Not hungry but I want to eat!!

I wish I knew who posted it to give them the credit but someone mentioned making up a protein drink and freezing it so it’s like ice-cream and provides a different texture and you’re still getting your protein. I’m going to give it a go. Hang in there, it will get easier!!
  7. Hi Nanagrrl3, I would check with your doctor but if your multivitamin contains iron then that has been known to make bowel movements look black. Also, I’m 13 days post op and when it comes to sipping water or my shakes I don’t feel restriction at all. That being said, I try to not push the boundaries either and take my time so it doesn’t come back up. It all sounds normal but wouldn’t hurt to ask your doctor. I have my first follow up on Monday and am hoping I can move to puréed foods, can’t wait!! Hope all else has gone well and it would be great to know how you go seeing our surgeries were so close. All the best!!

    Hard Recovery

I’m 12 days post op and there’s no way I could have gone back to work after a week. It took me until about day 7 to stop needing pain relief and about 9 to be able to move around without getting really light headed. Good luck and I hope you have started to feel much better

    Any March Surgeries?

Hi ShaiMarie, I have known a lot of people to do the gastric sleeve first but then ended up having to do the bypass down the track because the sleeve wasn’t as effective long-term. Every person’s experience will be different of course and hopefully your surgeon can provide the best recommendation for you. All the best!!

    Any March Surgeries?

Hi everyone, I had my surgery on the 1st of March and am in the protein shake only phase until Monday. Looking forward to different tastes and textures. If you have any questions at all please feel free to ask. I was a bit nervous before my surgery but thankfully it all went well. It took me a bit longer to get over the pain and feel mobile again, than I thought it would, but feeling better each day.
