    7 weeks post op

I would talk to your surgeon but not worry. The dietitian told me it just happens sometimes. Turned out my body thought it was starving and reacted that way. I reluctantly ate a little more and the scale went down. It was counterintuitive. I’m now a year out and still get hungry. I just eat a lot healthier and it takes less to fill me up.
  2. Thank you everyone for your honesty. I’m at a year and petrified of gaining back what I lost. Maintenance has always been harder for me than weight loss.
  3. Yesterday was my one year surgiversary. Weight loss surgery was an amazing decision and my only regret is not doing it sooner. At one year, I’ve lost 47% of my body weight going from a size 18-20 (2x) to a size 4-6 (small). I feel better. I can walk around and do normal tasks without being exhausted. My acid reflux has improved, no more knee pain, no more incontinence… I feel great. I have excess skin I’m considering having removed, but it sure beats all the fat. I’m down to my goal weight and praying I’m able to maintain it for the long run! Losing 106 pounds (226 to 120) was not easy and I’m scared of gaining it back. My goal now is to increase my exercise to more than just chewing (haha). Shopping for “regular” size clothes and having them fit is so much fun. I love being able to cross my legs. I don’t need the X-Large blood pressure cuff at the doctor. I don’t think I’ll ever be comfortable in a bathing suit, but I’m ok in my everyday clothes. I no longer dread having my picture taken. My BMI went from 42 (morbidly obese) to 22 (normal). My husband and son tell me they’re proud of me. Most importantly, I’m proud of myself. I was scared to have weight loss surgery, but fortunately it has turned out way better than I ever could of hoped for. I’d love to hear other peoples’ successes and hope my story inspires others considering weight loss surgery just as the stories other folks shared inspired me. HAPPY SURGIVERSARY!
  4. Weight loss surgery was one of my best decisions. Can’t wait to hear all about your successes too!
  5. For months I wore a cheap rubber thingy (I bought on Amazon) around my wedding rings to keep them from falling off. I finally got them resized after being at my goal weight.
  6. Yes! I tore my meniscus years ago and had horrible knee pain. Tuesday will be one year since my weight loss surgery. I’m down to my goal weight and NO knee pain. It’s amazing! Now I love to walk again. It’s helpful not having an extra 100 pounds weighing me down.
  7. It gets better and better! I was so excited when I went from a 2x to non-plus sizes and could shop anywhere instead of a few retailers. I am a couple of weeks shy of one year post-op (March 18) and down to my goal. I love clothes shopping now and proudly heading to the size small section! I went from an 18-20 to a 4-6. Enjoy your journey!!!
  8. I’m so happy for you I wanted to cry! I have a seven year old and feel the same way about doing things with him. He told me it’s not fun to play catch with me anymore since now I’m fast and can catch him. I love capturing him and smothering him with kisses!

Pants vs. dress right after surgery

I wore loose elastic waist pants and an oversized top. It was comfortable.
  10. I know how you feel. I love clothes shopping now. Before I was limited to what they stocked in plus size. Now everything fits and looks good. Enjoy!
  11. Congratulations Tony! This is the best reason for surgery and an amazing outcome. Keep up the good work!
  12. McDonalds cheeseburgers. I probably shouldn’t have tried it (not healthy) but I was curious and my seven year old was having one. I used to LOVE them. I still crave them thinking about it. I tried having a bite on two different occasions and both times had to spit it out. Yay.., I guess:) Also, I eat very little red meat in general now. Hard to digest and too many calories.

    Help

Like Viking Beast said, although it was counterintuitive, when I increased calories I lost more not long after weight loss surgery, The nurse explained when your body thinks it’s starving it holds onto what it has. She said it’s common; also, when you do start losing again you may lose at a faster rate. It all evens out. I ‘m about 8 months out and just barely over the weight I’d like to stay at. One week I gained one pound. I didn’t freak out. The next week I lost about a pound more than usual. It’s a process. Eight weeks is still early out and your body is getting used to it’s new normal. You’ll get there!!!

ProCare Health One A Day Vitamin

Hope your appointment goes great! I’d love to take my vitamin with my shake if it’s ok. Not a fan of taking pills at night.

ProCare Health One A Day Vitamin

Worth checking. Iron doesn’t absorb after calcium so my nutritionist told me to take the vitamin separately from the protein shake. That said… I had some pizza before my vitamin last night knowing I shouldn’t. Oh well.
  17. Excedrine migraine can actually cause rebound headaches if you take it too often (caffeine withdrawal). Recommend you go to a good neurologist who specializes in Migraines. I go to Georgetown University’s Headache Center and they do treatments nowhere else did. Currently I do a Vyepti infusion every three months and it does wonders. I take Relpax when I do get a migraine. Good luck!

ProCare Health One A Day Vitamin

I take ProCare 45 mg iron at night with no problems. I’ve been taking the citrus chewable, but am slowly switching to the capsules. I take them at night since I have a protein shake for breakfast and iron shouldn’t be taken within 2 hours of calcium because if absorption issues.
  19. Thanks!!! The 4 ran really big… but I’m still excited!!! I want to keep the size label on them (haha)
  20. Hysterical! I know the feeling! I was waiting until I finished losing weight to buy new panties, but down over 90 pounds, the saggy ones weren’t working. I also donated my size 18 jeans and was sooo excited to squeeze into a size 4 that ran big!!!
  21. I’m down two shoe sizes and no longer wide width. Wish I hadn’t donated all my old shoes. I have none that fit now!
