Just got my date of June 21st! The medical office just submitted my paperwork earlier this week and I was approved already and I am so thankful. Between now and then I have to lose 14 pounds, so I am laser-focused and it is a good distraction considering the alternative is being overly anxious and nervous about the actual surgery. Glad I found this group to have new friends and have a shared experience!

    Congratulations. 🍾

I got the call this morning, they got me in for May 31 :) I'm so happy, but now its like OMG I need to get prepared LOL I only need to do liquid diet for the 2 days before, and need to ween myself off coffee this week (thankfully, I only drink two cups/day, so I'll do one for a few days then stop)

Congrats on your surgery date 🥳

I bought these on my work trip this week after seeing your post, but I wasn't hungry enough to eat it (it's still pretty high in calories). I guess I'll save them for a chocolate craving. If I ever find where I put them in my suitcase!

Yea they are definitely not an everyday food but I only crave chocolate once a month and they are way better than Reece’s. Plus a serving size is two cups and I just have one.

OOTD scrubs edition. My hospital provides our scrubs. The tops have a colored band at the neck, and the bottoms have a colored draw string. The colors indicate size. Dark green = 3xl, dark blue =2xl and so on. At my highest weight I wore dark green band tops and had to buy my own pants because the 3xl’s were too tight. Now I’m a yellow which is small and may even fit in pale green which is XS!

Boy did it suck to have to advertise my size on my work clothes, now I’m happy to be in the yellow crew :)

    Congrats. That’s awesome NSV!!

Mine is June 30th. I got blessed to have this on my late mamas bday. 😃 I’m scared as heck but what keeps me going to not back out is nothing else has worked for me and I don’t wanna die or be miserable with anymore complications I put on myself. Besides I’m really tired of this comfortable life style I’ve been in and all it’s done is made me stay depressed and unhealthy. Cheers and blessings to all of you for your courageous journey. Plz pray for me as I will all of you. So glad I found this support app!!

Congrats on your surgery date and the beginning of this journey.

I am still having a really hard time eating salad. I have a hard time digesting raw veggies. I am close to being 9 months out, and I feel like I should be fine at this point? When I am able to eat it again, I can't wait to try these dressings. They look yummy.

Have you tried the chopped lettuce at the store That comes in the bags someone told me that lettuce is hard for everyone to digest and that the chopped lettuce is much easier on our stomachs. So far I’ve only tried the chopped variation so I can’t say for sure whether it makes a difference but I was told that by someone who heard it from a doctor.

My surgery was April 6 .

starting weight was 218 on March 18.
    surgery weight I was 209.

im now 190, I don’t feel like I’m losing weight fast enough, which is really discouraging because I’m really sticking to this diet.

Idk what your starting height and weight were but 28 pounds is a great start. Everyone is so much different. But even the veterans will tell you some were slow losers but they still eventually lost it all.

Have you tried the cooking the chicken breast various ways? I ask because my nutritionist said many of her bariatric patients come to her with that same complaint but when she asks them if they tried cooking if in different ways they tell her no. She then sends them home to try cooking it different ways and she claims that like 90% of them are then successful eating it. She said lots of times it just depends on how it's cooked, how dry it is because of the way it's cooked, seasonings etc. So, who knows. Haven't been there yet myself to test it out but you may want to try cooking it in other ways if you haven't already.

I find it to be the most moist in instapot ot on grill.

Hi everyone! My gastric bypass is the 27th, my birthday actually!. Very anxious and nervous...researched went back and forth over a year and finally decided to do it and was positive about it. Now second guessing things like I’m afraid I won’t be normal and go out to lunch w the girls and enjoy vacations!! I do know that it will get better and those things will happen again but I suppose need some reassurance right now. Can anyone weigh in (no pun intended😆) as to some positive experiences getting back to solid food and feeling normal again?

Well for the first couple months things are not normal but I am about 10 weeks out now and I can eat pretty much everything I did before surgery. I haven’t yet attempted steak, bread, rice or popcorn because they are on the list but other than that I can eat normal. I just feel like I eat my husbands plate instead of mine now. He is super thin and fit and I eat about the same as he does naturally.

  10. I haven’t had any alcohol since surgery but I know what I will probably have. I liked Bacardi and Coke so that’s a no go but I had some drink packets I found on Amazon that are margaritaville flavors that will mix well and are only 10 calories a packet. Its a variety pack with pina colada, margarita and strawberry daiquiri. Easy enough to toss in your purse to mix up while on the go if you wanted.
