  1. I'm 21 weeks out post VSG and I had the same thing for the first 3ish months! It goes away over time, just make sure you are staying hydrated and hitting your Protein goals and try to power through. I suspect it was fade away over time like mine did! I know it's no fun though, it left me feeling like I had made a mistake for a couple of months!

  2. Almost 100 pounds down and there are the changes I was expecting and excited for and some surprise ones!! Basic things like shaving are SO much easier! Sitting ay my desk with my legs crossed comfortably. Not being winded from doing menial tasks. Not being scared to go to the doctor because they were just going to tell me all my problems were my weight. Not shuddering when I see pictures of myself! The list goes on and on and I suspect will continue to grow as I lose the reming weight!

  3. I WISH I had done this surgery when I was 23! I was probably about the same size as you at that age (just turned 30) with no health issues either. I've always struggled with my weight and have gone up and down with diets too many times to count. Nothing stuck for me. I realized this year that I needed to do something to make it stick before I developed any major health issues related to my weight (my BP was elevated and had fatty liver but everything else was ok). If you are confident that you can do it on your own and be able to stick with it then the surgery may not be for you! I know that, for a long time, I was confident I would do it on my own but I just couldn't. I think you know yourself best! Trust your gut! The surgery did come with pain and major life changes but it is 1000% the best thing I've done for myself. All this to say, trust yourself to make the right choice for you! This site really helped me when I was making the decision!

  4. I can't speak for bypass since I had the sleeve BUT I will echo the sentiment that I would do it again in a heartbeat! Its 100% worth the hard work and pain in the end. I had my sleeve done in March and am already almost down 100 of the 150 I want to lose! It's NOT the easy way out like some people think but its so so worth it. My quality of life has improved tenfold and blood pressure is in the healthy range again! Its not a small decision by any means so just do your research and read through the forums on here- they are full of support, testimonials, and great information!! Good luck on your journey!!

  5. Hi everyone! I'm 4 months post VSG and wanting to get my hair highlighted but am currently in the dreaded Hair loss phase. Does anyone know/ have experience getting their hair highlighted while in this phase? Will it make my hair fall out faster or do more damage than usual? I know everyone is different but I wanted to see if anyone had experience with this!! Thank you!

Did you make a LGBTQ community here?👀😍🥰 I would love to be part of it. My weight gain was partially due to challenges I faced in my sexual orientation journey in my early 20s for sure.

Agreed!!! I think a lot of folks who have struggled with coming to terms with/ accepting their sexuality have also struggled with food or body image!

I had a Tummy Tuck, breast lift & augmentation, and an arm lift in January. Yes, I could use the bathroom on my own from day 1. Thank goodness!

If you don't mind me asking, about how much did this cost? Im hoping to get all of these (or at least the tuck and breast augmentation) and am curious how I should be budgeting for it! I know my insurance wont touch it since they didn't cover any of the VSG! (if you don't feel comfortable disclosing the cost no worries!!)

I’m so nervous about calories at this point. My dr told me to go to 800 calories but I feel like it’s too much and might stall my weight loss? Am I being neurotic about this? So many people are doing 600-650 calories a day, even a year after surgery. (My surgery 4/21, HW: 206, CW 180.6)

I was sleeved 3/10 and have been consistently eating 700-900 up to 1,000 calories a day and have been steady losing about 4-6 pounds a week and no stalls yet (knock on wood!!) I do walk at least 2-3 miles each day which I think really has helped me not have any stalls and I stay hydrated but I wouldn't be scared of having 800 calories a day!! That is still a VERY small amount of calories!

I see a lot of people still getting nutrition from Protein Shakes. Which ones are you drinking because I am so over the Premier Protein ones. Someone said the Cookies and cream is good. I liked the boost I drank pre surgery but it only has 16g of Protein.

Pre surgery I loved the Premier Protein shakes but after I HATE them!!! I have been drinking the Fairlife Core Power Elite shakes and they are SO YUMMY. They are not disgustingly sweet and taste so so good. They also have 42 G Protein in each bottle (14 oz)! I'm 2.5 months out and have half of one every morning for Breakfast and add in a little Fairlife skim milk for even more protein and make the shakes last longer! I really really love them!!!

  10. Good luck everyone! I was sleeved March 10th and I've been really enjoying the Fairlife Core Power Elite High Protien shakes!! Pre surgery I loved the Premier Protein shakes but after surgery I find them REPULSIVE. These Fairlife ones are so good (taste like a not overly sweet melted milkshake) and are 12 oz with 42 grams of protein!! I wish I had tried them sooner after surgery.

You guys will all do great!!

@Allie Still my surgeon never mentioned the results to me, but my clinic has an online system where you can check all diagnostic tests like lab work, X rays, etc. So I got a notification on my email that a new result was posted and it basically said there was nothing out of the ordinary with my liver. My surgeon said he wanted to do the liver biopsy because my blood tests were showing inflammation, however, he told me it was highly likely that my liver had inflammation due to being overweight so long and eating a high fat diet. I'm pretty sure my liver biopsy results were posted the next day.

Oh thats great that your results came back and aren't anything to be stressed about! I keep reminding myself that this surgery and lifestyle change is the best thing I could have done for my liver but it's really stressing me out!

@Rosie_flips I’m not really sure you can prepare yourself for getting all your fluids in after surgery. I’ve honestly spent the past 4 days sleeping on and off and I sip Water and pedialyte when I am awake. If you are wanting to practice, try taking the tiniest sips of your life, no matter how thirsty you are. I caused a bout of nausea when I drank too fast. The first day I was allowed to have 15 ml of Water every 15 minutes. The second day I was allowed to have 30 ml of water every 10 minutes.

@JustJazzy I had my surgery Monday and I too am sore as hell. Luckily I only had the sleeve and a liver biopsy, so I can imagine you are much more sore than I am. On day 2, I sat in my hospital room thinking what the hell did I do to myself? And I was almost regretting this. I can say that each day the pain subsides a tiny bit more and it is getting easier. I have been taking liquid Tylenol as frequently as I can and that seems to be helping as well. I’ve also had good luck with ice packs.

I had a liver biopsy too!!! When do you expect to get your results?? I'm so stressed waiting to hear the results!!!

Did you get a chance to ask them why they did a biopsy on your liver? I hope nothing serious.

There was some small bumps on the surface they wanted to test! One doc seemed very nonchalant about it and one was very serious about it so I’m trying not to panic while healing! I should know next week what’s going on. I will say for several years prior to now I did drink pretty heavily while taking depression/anxiety medicine so I was already concerned about the state of my liver. Luckily though it can only go up from here and we will just treat it and continue to not drink and lose weight! Trying to stay positive!

  14. I was sleeved yesterday morning! Everything went well except they did a liver biopsy on me which is making me nervous. Yesterday and last night was BAD leaving me to think WHAT HAVE I DONT TO MYSELF. This morning I am a bit better. Walking around and doing breathing exercises. Having trouble getting liquids down as I’m having intense pain when I swallow and the liquid meets the stomach. Just trying to power through and remind myself in the long run this will all have been worth it!! Thank god for pain medicine though. I wish it would help with the gas pains!
