    BariatricPal Store

I just ordered a 15 count trial sample kit of Syntrax Nectar protein powder so I can try most of the flavors before commiting to a large tub. My favorite so far is the fuzzy navel flavor. The chocolate tort was good too but I couldn't get past the texture (I used water.) The shop will definitely be my go to when I need bariatric related items. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. Has anyone tried Smile Bariatric pods? This just popped up on my Facebook news feed and I'm thinking this may be the route I go post op with my PCP's approval. (I am not affiliated with Smile Bariatric nor receive compensation for this post) https://smilebariatric.com/product/dispenser/
  3. I had shoulder pain during my gallbladder attack. I hope it's nothing serious!
  4. I'm terrified that this is going to hapen to me. Both my liver and spleen are enlarged to the point that I've been seing a hemotologist/oncologist for the past year and was worked up with them thinking I had lymphoma. Thank G-d that they believe that it's obesity related and not cancer. I cut out soda on Jan 1 of this year and have been trying to eat better but have not lost a pound. We have a -45F windchill and 6 inches of snow right now so walking is a non-starter. What do ya'll do when you're trying but that number on the scale is not moving at all?

    Feeling so unprepared...

Hi there! I'm so sorry to read that you're struggling. I've had depression most of my life and nothing frustrates me more than people saying "I understand" or "get over it." Everyone's journey is different. You can read and research and read some more, but I don't think anyone can ever be truly prepared for the incredible life-changing journey WLS truly is. It's totally okay to feel what you're feeling right now. I'd daresay it's more common than you think. Thinking of everything you've had to give up, the post-op pain, even how this new tool will change your life... that can all be very emotional. If you had surgery locally, is there a support group you could join? Do you have a friend/colleague/doctor/etc outside of your family that you can talk with? Happy Birthday! I hope you enjoy your day.
  6. Thank you so much, OP, for asking this question! It's something I've been wondering about as well. My mom used Bariatric Advantage Banana flavor when she was pre-op. I can't stand the texture (it always comes out gritty for some reason.) I've been drinking Premier's new cafe latte flavor (does contain caffeine which I know a lot of pre-op diets restrict- I'm 8 months out from surgery so not an issue for me yet) every morning for breakfast and love it. The peach and cinnamon roll flavors are really good as well. A co-worker recommended Syntrax Nectar to me and I was able to find a 15 pack trial kit online for about $35. It should be here in the next couple of days. The fuzzy navel one sounds delish and I'm looking forward to trying it.
  7. I'm working with Blossom Bariatrics in Las Vegas to hopefully have surgery in Sept/Oct of this year. Like you, my work insurance does not have bariatric coverage. They are able to use my out of network surgery coverage to cover some of the cost however. I still have to pay $10,500 out of pocket. I was also considering going with Dr. Elias Ortiz (used to be with ALM) in Tiajuana. My aunt and 3 cousins have had sleeve surgery done by Dr. Ortiz and all had nothing but great things to say about him. It's considerably cheaper than Blossom, but right now with Covid, the thought of traveling anywhere (especially internationally) is rather scary. I've also spoken with the University of Kansas and they have a low cost option if you are in a surrounding state. I'm in Montana which excluded me from that option or I would've gone with them for sure. Good luck!
