  1. I went back and forth for a year thinking about if I should have this surgery or not. I was terrified. The reality was that I wasn’t going to be able to do it alone, otherwise I would’ve done it already. I couldn’t keep living the way I was.

    Has it been easy? No.

BUT... this has been the single greatest decision I’ve ever made for myself. It’s given me back my life, and I would go through it all again in a second!

    -95lbs 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

🗣🗣Thank you soooo much for these pics! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Absolutely amazing. Congratulations on all that chile lol This gives me so much hope for the sacrifice I made. Im 10 days post op from VSG. Only 7 lbs down so far but I’m not really focused on the scale just healing.

Did exercise also play a big role in your inches lost? For me I’m not one of those big losers just based on diet alone lol But I’m so interested in your story please keep us updated!

You’re in the thick of it right now but I PROMISE it gets easier… by 4wks post op you’ll feel like a new person.

If I’m being totally honest, I exercise very minimally. I’ve been sticking with low carb (try to stay under 45g/day) and it’s been working well for me. But, now that I’m in the final 25lbs or so before goal it’s slowed down (was losing ~8lbs/month and in Feb I lost 4lbs), so I’m going to start incorporating exercise to keep losing.

  3. It’s my 6 month surgery anniversary… I can’t believe it’s already been half a year into this new me. This surgery has changed (and saved!) my life so much, I never thought I’d see the physical change in myself (we’re our own worst critics), but when I look at these photos… I am so damn proud of myself because I SEE where -70lbs has gone!

    HW (left): 242
    CW (right): 172
    VSG: 9/13/21
    Goal: 142

@GooseyGirl Great work! Keep those pics coming!!! Nothing beats a good progress pic to keep you (and others) motivated ❤️

I found the less I looked like my “before” picture, the more I was willing to share it.

For a few months after reaching goal, i would show my “before” pic to anyone and everyone who asked (and i was even in my underwear in that pic!)

Now not so much cuz no one cares anymore, LOL.

    But yeah, take those pics!!!

    Heres mine:

You look amazing!! This is the goal 🙌🏻😍 congrats!!

  5. Taking the before picture is hard, but so so important. I don’t see my own progress month to month but when I look back at the beginning, all of a sudden I can see where some of my (almost) 50lbs has disappeared from.

Stick with it, we’ve got this! 💪🏻

I’m 5’4” and had a VSG on 9/13. My highest weight was 242 and my weight on the day of surgery was 230lbs.

  6. I’ve had the EXACT same experience so far (was sleeved 9/13) and have the same fear. It feels too good to be true? Just trying to trust the process but it’s difficult because the results aren’t instant. I was 245 when I started the pre-op diet, 230 day of surgery, and today I was 214.5 — just hoping the losses continue with solids but it has def slowed down now🤞🏻

  7. I decided when I started this journey that I was going to take before photos and progress photos. Here is one month into my new life!

I started my pre-op diet 30 days ago, surgery was September 13th. I’m 5’4” and started at 242, I’m now 218. My biggest piece of advice (especially if you struggle to see your own progress in the mirror) is TAKE THE PICTURES.

  8. My doctor told me not to think of it as stomach surgery, but rather brain surgery because you’re changing the way your mind thinks about food. I was sleeved on 9/13 and when I woke up from anesthesia I felt RELIEVED, like it was the best decision I had ever made.

I can’t speak to the bypass, but with the sleeve I’ve felt almost no hunger, no cravings, AND the foods I am thinking about are way healthier… I don’t know why. I used to want pizza, Pasta, ice cream etc (just carbs and sugar!) constantly, and now I find myself thinking about salads and fish.

I don’t think it’s ever “easy” but I’ve never dropped weight like this before. I’m down 25lbs since 9/1 and every day when the scale shows me a lower number than the day before I’m still shocked that it’s working.

I hope this helps, good luck!

  9. I started the pre-op diet at 242 on 8/30. On the day of surgery (9/13) I was 230. This morning I was 224… I’m just hoping it continues! I’ve been like this for so long it’s kind of hard to believe that it’s working… but the stalls are VERY common, just keep at it and stay focused. You’ve got this!!

  10. I was sleeved 9/13/21 and am about 24hours out. All in all, I have no regrets so far. I was a mess going into surgery, couldn’t stop crying and asking my husband if I was making a mistake, but I’m so relieved I did it. I feel like this is the first day of the rest of my life! A few things that I think might help those of you about to go in…

    1. When I woke up, pain was about a 7/10, they gave me some meds and I felt much better. Ladies, if you’ve experienced contractions this is a walk in the park.

    2. Deep breaths are uncomfortable (doc tells me this is totally normal). They have me blowing into one of those funny tubes to make me fully inflate my lungs to avoid “gunk” as they called it.

    3. Minimal nausea (they give you meds that help) and no vomiting.

    4. The pain today is about 4 or 5 out of 10. This is not surgical pain from the sleeve, it’s pain from the air they use to inflate your abdomen while they operate. They tell be it’ll subside in the next day or so.

    5. They’re having me take 60ml of water/hr (no more) until I get to 500ml which they think will be around 3PM at which point they’ll discharge me. All I’ve tried is room temperature so far but am having no issues.

If you made it this far, I hope this was helpful. I’m so thankful to have everyone here that’s always been willing to support and answer questions I have, my goal is to return the favor. Good luck everyone!!

My surgery is on Monday also!!! Good luck with everything. I’ve also got all the feels. You’ll do great.

Ahh we’ve got this!! 💪🏻💪🏻 Please feel free to message me if you need a friend when you’re recovering, we can reassure each other along the way! Good luck!

  12. My surgery is scheduled for Monday - I can’t believe in 48 hours it’s finally time!! I’ve been on the pre-op diet for two weeks tomorrow and I’m down 12lbs. I started at 242 and am now 230.

I’m feeling ALL THE FEELINGS… excited, scared, like I’ve failed, like there is hope, like it won’t work for me, like it will work and I’ll finally achieve a normal weight. I’m all over the place!

Did anyone else go through this?!

I'm outside of Boston. Our numbers have increased a lot, but they're still lower than a lot of the country because we have higher vaccination rates.

I’m in Boston too and getting my surgery on 9/13!! I think we’ll be okay despite covid rising, I don’t think they’ll cancel us! Are you going through MGH?

  14. I’m 95% sure I want to move forward with sleeve surgery but, I’m scared. The bulk of my fear is that I’m going to do irreparable damage to my body... or that I’m going to go through all of this and nothing will change, I’ll fail and still be this heavy (or will lose very little weight).

    1. Did you feel the same way?

    2. Are you glad you did it?

    3. Do you have any regrets?

    4. What’s one thing you wish someone had told you before you had surgery?
