    Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

I’m going to be sometime in March now hopefully and considering today is the 1st. My surgery was postponed from February 19th because the anesthesiologist didn’t like my ekg and they waited to call me the morning before and postpone it. I had to see a cardiologist and was told once I was cleared I would be moved to the top of the list. I’ve been cleared just waiting for a new date. Frustrated none the less about it all. I had already completed my 2 week diet and then had to stay on it.

    February 2021 Sleeve Surgery

If you don’t mind me asking why was yours postponed? I always have abnormal ekgs for everything. I’ve been to a cardiologist many times and they say my heart is fine. Now the ekg is showing changes and they did not make me see one prior and waited until now to tell me. I have a family history of heart disease as my dad died from a heart attack but I am still fairly young. I know that doesn’t mean anything. For now I am just frustrated. I had the lapband for 10 years and did so well with it and had it removed in an emergency surgery right before covid. Between those two things and losing my job I put on a lot of weight in a year. It’s a discouraging situation right now.

    February 2021 Sleeve Surgery

I was suppose to go in tomorrow the 19th and they just called and said anesthesia isn’t happy with my ekg so it looks like my surgery is getting postponed. Might be good considering the snow falling right now and the over hour drive. Still very disappointed especially that they waited until the day before to tell me or call! 😥

    February 2021 Sleeve Surgery

What kind of shoes did everyone wear to the hospital? I’ve always worn sandals to any surgery because they are easy to get on and off but my surgery is next Friday and we have lots of snow where I am. I want something slip resistant for walking in the hospital. Any suggestions? Thanks! ❤️

Me too! So glad someone is the same day! Do you have to do a pre-op diet?

    February 2021 Sleeve Surgery

When I had my class for my surgery they actually told me not to bring all that stuff. They said wear loose comfortable clothes, bring your phone, and a charger. No slippers, no robes, no excess. They provide the toiletries.

    February 2021 Sleeve Surgery

I think reading all of these posts hurts me most days lol! It’s a mind game for me that’s all. I’m fine and I read one that scares me and it makes it worse and then I read one that’s encouraging. It’s up and down. My goal weight was a decision between myself and my surgeon. He’s been a doctor of mine for over 5 years and we are just aiming for a healthy “me.” No fitting into any chart just what is right for me. What about you?

    February 2021 Sleeve Surgery

Anyone the 19th? Just had my pre-op blood work and EKG yesterday. I have my appointment with my doctor next Wednesday and then start the diet on Friday. Things are starting to get real. Anyone who has already had the surgery ever have any other surgery and if so can you compare discomfort? I’ve been put under countless times and cut open quite a few times. But nothing like this is my fear. I did have excess skin removal surgery after my lapband before I had it removed so I wonder if it compares to that? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I’m nervous.

    February 2021 Sleeve Surgery

My surgery is the 19th. I have to be on a 2 week low calorie diet which is basically a liquid diet of water, 3-4 protein drinks a day and 6 servings a day from a list of things like sugar free jello/pudding, 8oz of milk, unsweetened applesauce, a packet of oatmeal, etc. I worry it’ll be a struggle and be very rough. It’s amazing how every doctor/surgeon has different requirements. I was in a class in December where all 3 of us are going to have the gastric sleeve. 2 of us with the same surgeon were required to go on this diet 2 weeks prior to surgery and the 3rd person who had a different surgeon did not have to have any diet prior to surgery. Best of luck! My nerves are really kicking in! I had the lapband 10 years ago so this is not my first surgery.

    Help

I had my lapband removed in October of 2019 just shy of 10 years. I did great with it. Lost 170 pounds. Just since October 2019 and now I’ve put on 70 pounds and feel awful and discouraged. I had lost my job after the emergency surgery right before the pandemic hit. I made the decision to go forward with the gastric sleeve. My surgery is scheduled for February 19th. I’m so nervous. I should have already had the surgery but haven’t because of delays with the pandemic. All I can tell you is talk with your doctors. I felt so lost after having my band taken out and so defeated. I felt like I had failed. I’ve spent so many days in the doctors office crying. But look into talking to your doctors. My doctors sat and told me all my options as far as surgical and non surgical. I opted for surgical because I know myself. I hope you get the answers you want and need. I’m always here if you need anything. I would be lying if I told you I wasn’t scared or terrified to have a permanent surgery now after the band which was removable but I’m hopeful for a healthier life. Hope you find the right answers for you.

    February 2021 Sleeve Surgery

Anyone have some words of encouragement? I’m scheduled the 19th of February. I had the lapband in for almost 10 years and it was removed in October 2019. Anyone that’s had it done of what to expect more than what the doctors tell you? I’m so scared. I’m so scared I’ll fail. Or I’m making the wrong choice but I know I need to do this. I did really well with the lapband so the doctors are confident I’ll be fine with the sleeve. The fact that it’s permanent scares me.

    February 2021 Sleeve Surgery

    February 19th
  16. Hi everyone, I had the lapband done 10 years ago and had it taken out in October 2019 in an emergency surgery. Have surgery for the sleeve February 19th. I’m uneasy about it with the permanent aspect of it. I did very well with the band losing 170 pounds. I’ve regained this past year waiting for my surgery date for sleeve. Any former band people who got the sleeve who have encouragement? Though doing well with the band I had a lot of bad habits that I know won’t work with the sleeve. I can’t convince myself I can do this. With the band I feel betrayed because I thought I would always have it. It worked well for me. I’m scared! Thanks!
  17. I had arms and chest lift done 2 years ago. It was a 4 hour surgery and it was no worse of a recovery than my surgery that I had that was one area.

    January 2021 anyone?

I’m scheduled for February 19th. I had the band 10 years ago and had to have it removed. Anyone out there who had the band and is going through their second surgery? Looking for encouragement
