Lisa LoVuolo reacted to LaoDaBeirut in orzo
I've had it a couple times and had no issue with it, although I get full too quickly from it.
Greek food has been a staple for me this past year and actually I spent last June travelling in Greece so other than orzo you should be fine. I make a lot of shrimp saganaki, halloumi, and homemade tzatziki. With real feta and real greek yogurt not whatever that stuff sold in America is.

I love orzo!! I made a really good Tuscan orzo with mushrooms and sundried tomatoes. It was so yummy. I bought some whole wheat orzo but I haven't tried it yet.

Lisa LoVuolo reacted to Arabesque in blood pressure
It’s not uncommon for people’s blood pressure to be higher at certain times of the day & lower at others & not just from what they may be doing. Doctors told my father (& now my mother too) to take their BP at about the same time three times a day. This was to establish their natural cycle & pick up any obvious variations.
I’ve started taking mine mid morning & mid afternoon but to track my low BP (usually in the 70s over 50s) & heart rate which is also often low too (often in the 60s). Going to start noting what I’ve been doing, eating, drinking when I take my BP as well because of how that can influence your BP too.

Your blood pressure will vary on time of day, level of exertion, stress, and other factors. Are they extreme swings or just minor differences?

Lisa LoVuolo reacted to liveaboard15 in why revisions?
Hi
So i am planning on getting the sleeve. But i keep hearing about people needing revisions to bypass. Those that got the revision. Why? This worries me because i am paying cash for my sleeve which is roughly $20K and i dont have the money for a revision if that will be needed. Makes me not want to get the surgery at all.

Lisa LoVuolo reacted to Hop_Scotch in why revisions?
A lot of people revision to a bypass from a sleeve due to suffering ongoing GERD with medication doesn't help. Others due to weight gain.
If you already suffer a lot with acid reflux you may want to chat with your surgeon.
I suffered with acid reflux but mine was definitely related to the type of foods I was eating and the amount of food I was eating. If my food intake and portions were healthy I was fine. I discussed with my surgeon and I went with a sleeve. So far so good.

Woke up at the crack of dawn this morning (probably earlier than that, actually).
It was raining so couldn't go for a run, and there was nothing interesting to watch on TV, so .... I baked a pie.
Last time I baked a pie I subbed almost all the sugar with Monk Fruit, and though the fam couldn't tell the difference, they asked that the next time I baked a pie, I use real sugar. Jeez.
Which means one serving of this CARAMEL APPLE PIE (i.e,. 1/8 of the pie below) is 350 calories. I'm going out for drinks with the gal pals tonight so I'm gonna pass on pie today. I'll have a sample if there is any leftover tomorrow. The house smelled AWESOME though.
P.S. Full disclosure: I used pre-made pastry from the grocery so its not 100% homemade. Shhhhhhh...

Today starts a 3 day long weekend of LOTSA food, as its the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend.
I had planned to just wait until tonight's dinner party to eat, but I'm kinda hungry now so....salad it is to tie me over till then.
Romaine, carrots, cucumber, feta, bacon, & some canned tuna (with mayo, seafood sauce and spices): 378 calories.
Aiming to eat just enough of this to satisfy me as I wanna same room for the food goodness-es tonite, lol. We'll see how it goes!
