    Bypass REGRETS?

Has anyone gone with Bypass due to GERD or for other reasons and now REGRET the decision ans wish you had chosen sleeve? Details please and thank you.
  2. Thank you for this! I'm noticing your starting stats are very similar to mine. I'm 5'8 and 250. Are you willing to share about how many pounds came off each month ? You're only like 20 pounds from your goal weigh (my goal weight too) and it's only been 6 months.... go YOU!

    Too much weight losd

I have NOT had my bypass yet, but while my dietitian said there is no proof that vitamin patches work, the surgeon suggested them as an option... so while they had conflicting viewpoints- it might be worth looking into so you're not downing so much everyday. Blood work would tell you soon enough if the patches work for you. Also- IV vitamins from time to time from a health boutique might be worth looking into though it's $$$.
  4. For those of your who have had RNY Bypass... who here experiences dumping syndrome and who has been lucky enough to avoid it? Months or years out, who can enjoy a regular sandwich with cheese and mayo, pizza, ice cream, cookies, charcuterie plate, sweet cocktail (all in moderation) and who here suffers anytime they don't adhere to a strict post-op clean diet? How much could you eat before compared to what you can eat now. Do you feel "normal" at some point after surgery, or is there always an odd feeling as you go about your day and when you eat once you have surgery? I want your deets - the victories and the miseries!

You might want to ask your doctor if you can have eggs. I was told that could be an option if I was miserable during pre-op diet.

    GERD with Sleeve

This is SO good to know. It's a total crap shoot if the GERD will worsen or improve after surgery...but I've had issues even when I was thin...makiNG me think that I'll have issues without RNY. So sorry you haven't found much success with surgery and have suffered with acid- it can be such an uncomfortable and unbearable feeling. Any idea why the sleeve hasn't worked for dramatic weight loss? Did you follow strict diet protocols? Thanks in advance for sharing your story.

    GERD with Sleeve

This was SO helpful. THANK YOU. I hope you look and feel fabulous. Deep down I think the RNY is likely a better long term solution for me. I am struggling to bite the bullet since I am "thin" (yeah right) at 38-40 BM. and not what I always pictured a RNY candidate to be (like on My 600 Pound Life). Lots of self doubt if can i do this on my own without surgery. But I don't want to lose out on another year of my life when I could be on the road to health and fabulousness and the tool of surgery is so appealing when I've failed so many times. Have a wonderful holiday and Merry Christmas. Thank you again : )

    GERD with Sleeve

Have you had any issues with your bypass? I'm very concerned about the finality of it. at least with the sleeve, you have the option to move to bypass. Have you experienced Mal-apsorbtion issues or dumping? Since you' underwent the procedure several years back, can you enjoy a wide variety of foods/quantity and do you feel "back to normal" without discomfort? Will I ever have a slice of pizza again?

    GERD with Sleeve

Has anyone gone with the Sleeve and experienced bad heartburn/GERD? Maybe you've wished you had gone with bypass instead? Tell me your sleeve/heartburn stories and what you've learned to avoid to calm the symptoms, or if you've had to switch to bypass... and are you glad you did?
  10. I have GERD. One surgeon suggested bypass as GERD can worsen due to increased stomach pressure with the sleeve. But, while bypass often cures GERD and often results in greater weight loss, there is major concern regarding mal-absorption and health issues with Bypass, including the pain of DUMPING SYNDROME, Can anyone speak to acid reflux and the struggle to choose between the two surgeries? The second opinion surgeon suggested I do the sleeve and can always move to bypass if acid reflux worsens....but that's another surgery...UGH. I'm nervous and confused as there are drawbacks to both options. Is gerd worse than the pain of dumping? Anyone suffer from this issue?
