    Not a huge issue but...

I'm in a size 20 and I ordered a size 16 bathing suit so I'm hopeful! I wouldn't spend a ton of money as you don't really know what it'll be like in a month or two. I've discovered Prime Wardrobe and it's great!
  2. So much this... never realized how much of our vacation time was spent thinking about WHERE we were going to eat, and now that I'm not checking out the food at parties, I can actually talk to people... although I'm an introvert so that might not be a good thing - LOLOLOL!! I had a weird reaction to one of the shots they gave me in the hospital and ended up with another emergency surgery the day after my bypass. I regretted it for about a day, but since then I've had no problems. I even asked my surgical team if they pranked me and really hadn't done anything after all. I can't eat nearly as much and if I do I get a little nauseous, but other than that, I love it. My dietician said that 90% of folks never have any real issues so that's more the norm than it is the exception. It is a bit of trial and error as everyone is different. I haven't found a food yet that I can't have - including red meat - but I also haven't tried any desserts as I'm afraid to start up my old cravings. Sugar is an addiction after all and for me it is very real, but that is MY personal choice. Are there some things that will change in your life - absolutely. It's the nature of the beast. The only time food wise I've had an ounce of regret was I just wanted to gorge on Chinese food like I would have been able to in the past. It wasn't real hunger, it was just a mental thing that I worked through. I ate my little serving and moved on with my life perfectly satisfied.

    Surgery Tomorrow

Great place to be mentally! I was the same way. Good luck!

    Realistic time line for travel

I didn't have to fly right after mine, but depending on how long your flight is, you might want to get up and move a little bit during it.
  5. IMHO... I don't think that it's that people don't have the eating disorders - I used to go to McDonald's, get a cheeseburger, scarf it, and then go home and eat dinner - maybe it's that not everyone is as candid as you were?

    Just Starting

For the consult, he/she will ask questions like you'd expect at any doc's office - history, probably questions about your eating, health issues, and will probably ask you what procedure you're interested in. I went in asking about the sleeve, but after the consult and research, I had the bypass on 3/3. I wouldn't think you'd come home with oxygen unless there was some kind of complication. As for the diet, your insurance might not require it, but your doctor's office might. If it's one thing I've learned from being on these boards, it's that EVERY surgeon is different in their requirements. It might even vary from person to person. I'm in a group of folks from my own surgeon's office, and some of us had to do the two week pre-op diet and some didn't. Your doctor's office will probably recommend some vitamins and such to you, plus some people tolerate pills while others need chewables. I am a HUGE fan of early prep work as I lingered on here for 6 months before my actual surgery, and I think what I learned on here really made this process so much easier. I don't regret it. I wish I would I have done it sooner though!!
  7. I set my Apple watch to go off every 3 min. It vibrates, I drink.

    Emotional wreck

I'm with @Maisey It sounds like you're not ready. Nerves are normal, but if you FEEL like you're not ready, then you can slow the process down. There is no reason for you to have to rush. Have your surgeon's office schedule it for later if it works for you timewise. I wasn't self-pay and only needed a month of wait. I started with a consult in Oct. 2020 and could have been done by Dec., but I told them that for financial reasons, I wanted to wait until March. It was the best decision. Instead of 1 dietician visit, I had 5. I was able to talk to my therapist, and honestly, spending time on these forums was some of the best prep. I also had time to change some habits on my own before surgery required it. I'm 7 weeks post-op, doing very well, and I credit that extra time with a lot of it.

    I’m so weak!!!

I felt weak too for several weeks afterwards, but I added a sublingual B12 and that helped alot. I also sipped apple juice to make sure my sugar stayed up.

    Breakup Because I Had WLS

Wow... it sounds like both you and your boyfriend have been through a lot lately. Maybe you need to seek counseling - either one or both of you together. Communication is going to be pivotal for you - both in voicing your needs and HEARING what the other person is saying.

    Breakup Because I Had WLS

Yeah... and honestly, if he couldn't take a few dietary restrictions then what would happen if the poo really hit the fan over something else. Life happens. If he couldn't take it when you're doing something positive to make your health better, then heaven forbid you get in a car accident or anything else. You definitely dodged a bullet, and he wasn't worth your time.
  12. That is hysterical but mainly because it's soooo true!!!

    SOS with post-op clothes!!

Maybe you can find some true outlet stores. I've got a Dillard's clearance store near me that I used for some work clothes. SUPER cheap but really good quality - like 14.99 for something that would have been $72 regularly.

    ⚡️ Air Fryer ⚡️

Oh... and Pinterest has some great recipes and there are some good air fryer groups on FB.

    ⚡️ Air Fryer ⚡️

I make salmon in the air fryer. I just season with salt and whatever else I'm feeling like that day, spray both sides with olive oil and "fry" at 380. Time depends on the type of salmon. For wild sockeye, 7 min seems to be the sweet spot. For farm-raised - 9 min works for me. I've done cod the same way too. I've made shrimp in it too, but you have to watch the timing as it's so easy to overcook. Usually about 5-6 min. for shrimp.
  16. 1. Went to a baseball game and easily fit into the stadium seat without bruising my hips. Never used to stand up and cheer because, by the end of the game, it hurt too much. 2. Now instead of wondering if something makes me look fat, I have to wonder if it will stay up or if it's time to go in the donate pile. Went through 3 pairs of jeans the other day...oh the struggle 3. Bought a large t-shirt as my gauge for my next size... you know thinking I'd be into maybe in a couple of months. It fit! Like I can go out in public in it FIT! 4. Having so much more energy!!

    New Life Questions

As @catwoman7 said there is always a risk of complications, and each of us is so different that while I might have had gas, you might have very little. I think the best thing you can do is educate yourself on the possibilities so that you're prepared. If you do have bad gas pain, what are the remedies that people suggest? If you have hair loss, what can you do? (Not much BTW except wait it out) If you can't drink cold water, what do other people suggest? I learned so much from lurking around on these boards, that I felt really prepared for anything - including the inevitable stall. Good luck!!!

    Menstruation after VSG

Welcome! I took a combo that had the b12 in it so you might want to look into like a b-complex vitamin, but I remember he specifically mentioned the b12. Hope it helps!

    Bariatric pal

I just had bypass on 3/3, and I ordered off of here. I take the Procare Multi, D3, B12, and the calcium citrate.

    Post Op Covid Vaccine

Same as everyone else. You want to wait long enough to make sure if you have an adverse reaction that you can tell whether it's shot or surgery related.

    Grazing

I'm about 6 weeks out, and I'm eating on a timer because I don't feel hungry yet. I'm trying to eat 3 meals and 2 snacks but I'm not always getting it. Last night though... I was snacky. I recognized that I wasn't hungry, I just wanted something to munch on like I would have before so I tried to just drink my water. I don't want to fall back into bad habits of eating out of boredom.

    Menstruation after VSG

I used to get migraines a week before my period like clockwork - even with BC. Nothing worked over the counter or prescription. I went to a homeopathic guy, and he said that they were caused by a build-up of estrogen in the liver. He recommended B12 because it flushes the liver. I started taking it and the migraines stopped. I highly recommend it.
  24. Exactly!! Good luck to you too! I will say my biggest hurdle is trying to kick myself out of the "clean plate club." My mind says I'm done, but then I hear the voice of my great-grandmother saying - But those poor children would really appreciate that bite of food... That is my biggest hurdle, but I'm working on it!!
