    New Here *2 years out of VSG*

    I take two fiber pills a day and it helps to keep me regular. Try smooth move or rooibos tea to help too. Those two always work for me. The smooth move is a little gentler than the rooibos, but it gets things moving!
  4. 11 months out and haven't thrown up once. I've made myself nauseous a few times when I've eaten too fast or REALLY overdid it on sweets, but both of those are my fault and helped to remind me to do better.

    Hello everyone

    I loved the ricotta bake. It's super easy with little prep other than opening some packages and heating it up. I can't remember if that was soft food or pureed food, but I ate it a lot because it was so yummy.
  6. Ran my first 5K on Saturday, and while it took almost an hour, I actually ran the whole way. It was amazing. When I started getting tired, I just remembered when I first started and how I died just running a minute, but now I ran for 55 minutes! Also... came out of the shower this morning, and realized I could actually wrap the towel around me without that wedge of skin showing!!
  7. Every year our boys' PE hosts a Turkey Run and invites staff to run the mile. Never have I EVER even thought about walking it. Too embarrassed about how I looked, what would jiggle, how long it would take me, that I'd be huffing and puffing... you know all the reasons why. Today, I RAN with them. RAN!! Some of them were still faster, but I had to giggle at all the stragglers who would all of sudden find the energy to run when their librarian was coming up behind them! We were supposed to do 4 laps. I ran 6 and walked 2. So proud of myself. I never, ever thought I'd be a runner. EVER. I started a Couch to 5K app in July, and now I can run 40 consecutive minutes! I'm running 2.5 miles 3 days a week, and I'm signed up to run a 5k in February with the school's team.
  8. It's so crazy how it works!! I actually ran 5k in my neighborhood last weekend and felt like I pushed it, but didn't feel like I was going to die so it works!

  11. I am going to steal this for use with my teenagers!! Glad to see the update and that you're doing well!
  12. I got my pedicure and realized they could wrap the hot towel around each of my calves instead of having to drape multiple towels over both to try and cover them! I was also able to wear my oldest daughter's sweater!

    March 2021 Surgeries

    Hi All!! Today is my 8 month surgiversary!! So far I am loving this new lease on life! Plan on running my first 5k in February. I don't get really hungry, but I do get HANGRY if I go too long without eating. I have been having the munchies lately so I'm trying to make sure I'm having healthy snacks as well as working on the mindless eating that got me here in the first place.     Anyone with a traveling job?

    I don't travel AT ALL for my job - I'm jelly BTW - but my hubby does. Is there a way that your company can book you into one of those extended stays or something with a kitchenette?

    food

    I've come to like brown rice. Minute Rice has a brown rice in a little cup that takes a minute to make. I can usually get 3 servings out of one of those.
  16. I'm sorry... can you clarify your post? You said you lost 30 pounds in a week but haven't lost any weight? Am I not reading it right? Regardless, you have to give yourself time to heal. What food are you eating? On my plan, I was just starting the pureed stage. The focus for me was water and then protein.

    Three month stall

    Stalls are fun. NOT! The shocking with extra calories seems to work for me. If I hit a couple of weeks with no real loss, if I splurge on something, I drop like 5 the next week. I think it has something to do with Leptin levels, but I'm not a medical pro or a nutritionist so take that for what it's worth.

    Bariatric surgery and keto?

    My nutritionist said no to keto. Honestly, my doc's office is about eating balanced with a focus on plant-based - more Mediterranean than anything else. I don't know if Keto is good for the long-term. I do use a lot of Keto recipes because then I can add in my own healthy carbs in a controlled manner, but I try to modify the recipes so they're not so high fat.

    Pre-Op Liquid Diet Woes

    I had a two week liquid diet without a lean meal so I feel you!! I tracked mine in my fit pal because I was supposed to get 750-900 calories a day and I wasn't even clearing 500 with 3 shakes a day plus soup. After talking to my nutritionist, I started making my own shakes in the morning with unsweetened vanilla almond milk. Somedays it was almond milk, chocolate protein powder and PB2 powder. Other days it was almond milk, vanilla protein powder and frozen fruit. The almond milk really helped to bulk it up with some extra calories and it was super helpful. Some of this you DO just have to tough out. Your body is going WTF! Where's my goodies?!!! But you are stronger than that. If you do "mess up" just shake it off and move on. Don't fall into a guilt spiral. I'm really bad about that and then one little slip becomes the whole house on fire. You can do this!
  20. I count my starting weight from the day I was diagnosed with diabetes and was referred to a weight loss surgeon. I think it's really a personal choice. For me, I need the encouragement and sense of accomplishment it gives me. I've lost 129lbs total and 83 of that has been since surgery - which 83 is great number, but 129 gives me more internal happiness so I use the 129lbs.
  21. Had my mammogram yesterday, and while reviewing my info had to change my weight from 305 to 186! Score!!!

  23. I asked my nurse if they'd actually done anything since my recovery was so easy. She laughed and said that 90% of people have an easy recovery. You just only hear the issues because those folks are asking for help and suggestions while the folks without issues kinda fly under the radar. I do wish that I had more of a restriction or issues with sugar since I seem to be able to have anything, but it's forcing me to use my mental game which I think is a good thing for long-term success.
