  1. I decided at 60yrs old I shouldn’t need to defend my decisions, so I told everyone. I was no longer ashamed of not being able to control my weight by diet and exercise. I know it’s nothing to do with willpower and or intelligence, obesity is a medical condition, and we all try different methods to manage or cure it. Everyone’s journey is different and we get to choose who we share it with.

    Can I eat candy

Sorry to hear you are in so much pain. I think it’s normal to have buyer remorse in the first week. However if you don’t have pain meds prescribed, I would suggest you seek medical advice. My surgeon said any solid foods during the liquid and purée phase of recovery could cause the staple line to open. He said a previous patient who ate solids early ended up in hospital for 3 months, being feed through a tube as he ruptured his new stomachs staple line. I am 10 weeks post op and I can now have a piece of candy and only need one to satisfy my sweet tooth. Like a normal person!
  3. I am 10 weeks post op and would appreciate any advice. My protein goal from dietitian is 70gram per day (she calculates based on goal weight of 70kg) I use protein powder in my coffee which provides 15 grams of protein. No problem drinking 2 or 3 cups over the course of the day. However I know I am not eating healthy. I am finding it very difficult to get my protein from actual foods as the quantity I can eat is small. Can you please share how you reach your protein goal.

6 weeks post op, everything seems to get stuck.

Many thanks for all the great ideas. At least I know it’s not just me. At first I thought the surgeon had made the sleeve too small! Now I know it’s just me eating too fast.

    Feeing Rough and Sleeve Blush

Hope you get manage to get your pain under control. I too had buyers remorse for the first week. I didn’t have a lot of pain, however I struggled with a constant thirst that couldn’t be quenched. I think the protein water caused that. However each day has got easier and each eating stage has brought new challenges, but from what I have read on these forums, it takes around 3 months to start getting used to the new normal.
  6. I am struggling to eat healthy. Even scrambled egg seems to get stuck. I don’t seem to be able to detect my level of fullness until it’s too late and I have the stuck feeling with copious amounts of saliva. How have you successfully transitioned from liquids to solids? Any tips would be appreciated.

    Always hungry...

I was also hungry, especially with the protein shakes. I could never drink enough of it to satisfy me for more than hour or two. Now that I am on soft foods it’s so much better. One scrambled egg keeps me going for 4 or 5 hours. I also found that carbs don’t fill me for long, for example cereal soaked in milk only satisfied for a couple of hours.

    Hungry post op

So glad I found this thread. I am so hungry 5 days post op, I was thinking the surgeon hadn’t removed enough stomach😳 I have ate lots of different protein drinks and thin soup, but nothing fills me.
