    Difficulty with vomiting

Hi Lola, I had my gastric bypass on the 12th, and I have been drinking protein shakes since the second day after, but every Dr, is different as are we, It is true tho, my taste buds changed completely. i am so glad that I listened to the folks on here and only bought a few things to try at a time. Before surgery, I made my own protein shakes with ice and protein powder in a blender, but right now I am still not up to doing all of that and the only 'ready to drink' protein drink I can get down is the "Oh Yeah" brand. They are out of stock on Walmart.com, but I know GNC carries them. Typically, Id want chocolate, Not anymore....I only want the vanilla. If you can get your hands on a couple of those maybe give them a try. I hope that you feel better soon. Please keep me posted.
  2. Thanks so much Deb. I don't think it has been too bad once I got thru that first night. That was a rough one. I know it was due to all the scar tissue my Dr. cleaned up for me. I already feel better in the sense that whatever he did effected my bladder as well, because before this surgery I was the lady with my bladder on a leash. Today being my 4th day post-op I woke up feeling a little rough, but it was also a hour and half past time for my nausea meds. Thanks for the words of encouragement. I'm so happy all is going well with you.
  3. Glad it all went well for you as well. Thanks for sharing and, yes my Dr. is a Rockstar.
  4. Thanks for sharing, and glad to hear that you are doing good. I actually had 5 c-sections, 1 tubal reversal, and a complete hysterectomy thru the same incisions place. But all in all, I don't think I'm doing too bad the pain isn't as bad as I thought it would be. Thanks again.
  5. Thank you so very much. I for sure am going to follow all of Dr.'s orders to the T. I sure wouldn't want him to have to go back in.

Undecided - Newbie - figuring my way around

Thanks so much for your support. I will for sure take your advice. It just seems they(the Dr's) want to act like the surgery patients just want to take pain medication for the heck of it? I will let them know, I mean it makes recovery so much easier if you aren't in so much pain. We will/would be able to walk more to work the soreness out. Thanks again. You are so kind. Also, Shout out to your Father for making sure they helped you.

Absolutely no reason for apologies at all. I am glad to hear that you are doing betther. I am going for my bypass on Jan !2, and I am worried myself that they will not give strong enough pain medication, if needed. I don't understand that at all. That is what the medicine is made for? I just don't get it, but glad to hear from you. Sounds like you are doing great.

oh, ok. That is good news. Yes, sounds like you are good. When you said blisters, it brought back some bad memories for me. I'm so glad everything is going good for you.
  10. Sad to say but isn't it the truth. I've been big and small a few times in my life, and as far as men go, it is so the truth.

I am allergic to steri-strips. They do me the same way. If you don't have them off , you need to inform you dt right away and take them off. It could make it harder for your incisions to heal as fast, I mean if you get more blisters. I just thought Id share this. I informed my Dr up front, but he told me to remind him when I come to his office after surgery? Hope this helps. I'm sorry to hear this for you, but really I did fine without them

That is great. Sounds like you are doing wonderful, and no pain meds at that. Well, other then Tylenol. I'm so happy for you, but yeah I'd keep taking that med for the nausea as long as needed.

Oh my goodness! I can't believe that you had Gastric bypass and they sent you home the same day. I am having surgery on the 12th and was told I'd be there at least 2 nights. I have seen a couple of posts where ppl said they came home the same day with gastric bypass. I'm sure every dr is different? Keep us posted please, and take really good care of yourself.

Got my surgery date. Any January bypass surgeries??

Yay! I'm so happy for you. I know I'm excited about mine on the 12th. I have my pre-op visit with my surgeon tomorrow morning. I don't look forward to the 2 wk pre-op diet, at all. I can see you will not have to do a very long pre-op diet, which is good for you. I wish you all the luck, and keep us posted.

Well, i can't say that I have any tips, but congrats to you. I will let you know that my surgery date in Jan 12th, and I'm nervous as well. I think this is normal for anyone that is getting ready to have surgery. I have had 14 prior surgeries and it doesn't get any easier. Also, I just wanted to tell that I started this journey once before and I backed out. I hadn't gotten as far as you have in the process, but I regret backing out to this day. Everyone is different, but really think about your decision. This is surgery is something that is going to help us get healthy. I know I need it so much. I can't wait to enjoy walks, and playing with my grandbaby on the floor. Its all the little things that I look forward to, as much as not having to take so much medication. I hope this is of some help, and I wish you the best of luck. Rhonda

    Pre Surgery diet No Sugar?

Thank you so much. I was given a copy of the 2 wk pre-surgery diet I'm supposed to stick to, however I didn't realize it that it says "no sugar" that's why I am confused because in turn it does talk about the protein shakes throughout the day. Thanks I'm sure it has to be something to that effect.

  25. i can relate to each and every person that has stated all the reasons I won't miss about being fat and I know this is absolutely TMI, but I hated using the bathroom because I can't get to myself to clean myself properly without having to get back in the shower once again.
