  1. Thats so sweet 😊 I think I had a really good surgeon. I did mine inthe UK at parkside hospital with Dr . Vasilikosta. I have social anxiety so I am not easy to be around . But he was really nice to me, friendly and understanding. We bumped elbows (instead of fist bumping , because covid) at the end haha. The surgery itself went really well. I woke up with little pain, not much gas pain and could drink relatively easily.

    low energy , tired

Not really sure about my calorie count, everything I am eating is 1/4 of a cup. I am trying not to eat more because it seems everyone else is eating around that amount. I will up my calories though , gonna include snacks like a banana. Yeah for breakfast I have mushy bran flakes.

    Pureed diet

I am having the same issue, I tried refried beans and it got stuck (TMI I puked it later)
  4. Wishing u well, hope it went ok? I didnt get too much gas pain, I just felt sore whenever I moved. The puree stage is tricky. I tried pureeing yesterday and I didnt like the look of it to be honest. Wouldve preferred to mash it up with a folk but oh well. I tried refried beans with cheese and its quite good.

    Psych Holding up the process

My psych in so many words, failed me for being an emotional eater. I was really worried the surgery wouldnt go ahead . I then kept pestering the psych to hurry up and send the report officially because the surgery was only next week. Well she did, talked to my surgeon and worked it out, had the surgery. It sucks your going through these difficulties , hope it get sorted.

    liquid diet troubles

I havent been drinking protein powder as it causes me gas. I bought the wrong type of powder and now I am stuck with it lol. I have alot of dairy like milk and yoghurt so thats where I am getting the protein at the moment.
  8. Hi had my gastric bypass on post day 5. Roughly a week left of liquid diet. I am finding it difficult with head hunger. Wishing for solid foods right now can't concentrate sometimes. I am having soup, milk, yoghurt, broth pretty much . Any suggestions with things that can help ? Anyone finished the liquid stage earlier cause they couldn't deal with it ? Thanks
  9. I had the balloon for a year and got it removed last april. It didnt work for me. No restriction felt, I ate normally. Only time I felt it is when I ate quickly. I am a emotional eater, I dont think I was prepared very well. But honestly its best investing money elsewhere.

    Anyone for October 2020?

Had my bypass 31st. Woke up from the operation thinking they hadnt done it yet lol. The gas pain was ok and there was very little nausea. I think I had a good recovery, could drink liquids right after, no problems. Post op 1 day I was back at home . But I have to do those anti clotting injections myself for 20 days, that sucks. And the liquid diet is hard with head hunger. I don't drink shakes because the one I have give me gas.

    Anyone for October 2020?

Great to hear ! I am sure your body is adapting still (IV fluids make you bloated I hear ) so you will probably lose more later.
  13. My WLS is on the 31st Oct, this saturday! I am nervous and anxious but thats normal. I expect there to be pain and other stuff but if you read here in the forum, everyone has been through it. Speak to your surgeon maybe, ask for a phone call to alleviate your worries. One thing that helps is looking at the before and after photos thread here, everyone looks so different and no one regrets it.
  14. Hi , Having gastric bypass on the 31st woot! Was wondering what medication they give in the hospital to help with the gas pain? Everyone is talking about gas X but I live in the UK so. Was thinking chewable pepto bismol might help. Thoughts?

    Anyone for October 2020?

Ah maybe dont get pepto bismol I made a mistake. Get anything that has the active ingredient simeticone in it like Wind-eze.

    Anyone for October 2020?

Yeah I dont want to have more counselling sessions with the one I saw as it was £250 for an hour. If I have to do it I will find the cheapest person I can find lol. Also glad to hear youre post op! Are you taking other OTC stuff for the gas? I am gonna buy pepto bismal chewables maybe.

    Mining (Yes, for real)

Thats pretty interesting , I wish there were canyons and mining areas in the UK to do this kind of stuff. I have a metal detector that I use on the beach often but thats about it.

    Anyone for October 2020?

Hi, I hope everyone is doing ok out there... After a shaky psychology assessment , its been reconfirmed for the 31st (gastric bypass) provided I find counselling post op. Counselling is expensive privately but we'll see when I cross that bridge. My pre op diet is going ok ish ....i am just eating eggs all day for 2 weeks. I really sick of eggs lol.
  19. Hi I just had my psychology assessment for gastric bypass. The psychologist recommended I DONT go for the surgery. Saying I have a bad relationship with food and wouldnt be able to commit to the lifestyle changes. This has thrown off the surgeon. He needs to wait for the full report of this. But has said he wouldnt go through with it if the surgery would make me worse. The surgery is still planned for the 31 st Oct and my pre assessment tests is this Thursday. I am seriously worried it will get cancelled. The hospital is in the UK, I am worried if I get cancelled here, my chances would be slim with other hospitals too. I am starting to think about surgery abroad. I am upset. I paid £250 for this psychology assessment and I ve already taken out a loan for the surgery. Thoughts ?
  20. Yeah I thought it was a formality too. And I tried my best to 'tell them what they wanna hear'. I mentioned I was a emotional eater and thought the bypass would help with that. I also have a anxiety condition. I think I fu*ked up.

    Anyone for October 2020?

thats great ! Mine is potentially next sunday.
  22. This is interesting. Spent today drinking protein shakes and the gas and bloating was too much. Probably due to lactose. I'd be interested to see what rice, hemp or plant protein would be suggested here.

    Hungry Way Too Often

My dietitian told me to up my protein when I was constantly hungry. I was eating too much processed stuff and carbohydrates. I started having more clean things like chicken and it worked.

    Anyone for October 2020?

Starting my pre op diet today. I am just doing protein shakes for the whole day. Its making me gassy but thats ok. Tomorrow I will switch to egg and bread for meals (total 1000cal a day). Hope everyone is doing ok, whatever it is you will get through it.
  25. I am quite familiar with st marys as I work with one of the other hospitals thats part of the trust. But I chose parkside because it was cheaper (I think.) Ah next thursday? It will go well for you, its a great hospital. I think the only thing to think about is the gas pain and many people here have great tips to help remedy that. I have my pre assessment tests on that day, I hope it goes ok... My surgery is halloween lol 31st. With this whole covid thing, I hope it doesnt get pushed back...
