I felt the same way, and I also, prayed, researched, etc. Just find a Dr. you are confident in. I was sleeved 10 days ago and I am fine and have no regrets. Three weeks ago I was weepy all weekend like I was ready to call it off after I had my date. I was mad at myself for gaining weight and not being able to control it myself. My reasons for pushing forward were for my future health... not sure how heavy you are... but genetics were not on my side... Lots of overweight, round apple body types in my family and lots of serious arthritis on the joints, high cholesterol and diabetes. My blood sugar had been climbing for a year and a half and I said I need this to stop before I am diabetic and have sleep apnea. So I did it for my health to live a long full life.

Hope that you are doing well! I was sleeved on the 8th. I was also lucky and not in a lot of pain.
I am hardly hungry... and I have been walking. It really does help the recovery.

Thank you! Prayers worked. Surgery was a success on the 8th! The last couple days have been a struggle. The epidural was awful and because of it my bladder shut down and I couldn’t pee... so I had to stay in the hospital.
Haven’t been able to sleep. My stomach seems to gurgle and spasm a lot. I think I am having head hunger.
I really wish I could sleep more. But I know walking around is better for me.

I think so! Just hoping the pain is controllable and the surgery is smooth.

Good luck on Tuesday! I am scheduled for a sleeve also Tuesday morning! Yes the liquid diet is tough... and I couldn’t agree more about the Premier Protien shakes, I thought it was just me!

I also agree about the emotional eating and grazing... I have learned more about that too this week.

Hey everyone! Thought I’d share my experience for those about to go through the pre-op liquid diet.< br />
I’m finishing up Day 13 of liquids only. No meals allowed on my diet. I was about 95% compliant and stuck to broth, Premier Protein shakes, sugar free Jello, and Bariatric Soups (low cal and fat, high protein). And Water. Some Gatorade Zero.

Overall I’ve lost 15 pounds since my highest weight (238, 5’6”) - this morning I weighed 223.

It has been honestly kind of hell. I’m a grazer and love salty Snacks and broth and soups have helped, but I’ve been white knuckling it and I have been a total tempermental MESS around my family (I’ve apologized many times - ha!). I’m irritated and angry I can’t have my cheese and wine and salty marcona almonds before dinner (it’s a wonder how i gained weight in the first place, right?) ;)

I did cheat on the liquid diet; four or five of the 14 days I had plain chicken breast, about 1/4 to a 1/2 a cup, when I thought I would faint or die from hunger. I snuck an occasional pickle here and there and once had a couple of scoops of pico de Gallo.

Otherwise, I’ve been suffering and had to ask my family to stop making aromatic food at dinner because it fills the whole house and makes me hungry from places I’ve never felt hunger. But, I’ve survived and the last 2 days have been easier.

The good news? I never realized how much I grazed and ate emotionally and to combat stress. I’m really glad I took this seriously because I learned a lot about my old eating habits that I did out of routine. Also, Premier Protein Shakes made me extremely constipated!!!! In case you were wondering why you may have rock hard poops. Ha.

I’m ready to finish today out strong, enjoy my day off as much as possible tomorrow, and mentally prepare myself for surgery on Tuesday AM.

Hang in there. I am sorry to hear of your pain.

Two and a half days. I had my own room due to coronavirus.

I just stayed overnight for my sleeve in May.

My sleeve on 9/14/20 is going to be outpatient! 😬

1 night - And honestly, it could have been outpaitient.

liver enzymes increase as well (although you wouldn't know that unless you had yours tested). Rapid weight loss is supposedly tough on livers. I had mine re-tested when I was about 18 months out (and pretty much done losing weight), and they were back to normal. Evidently this is pretty common...

So what is everyone thankful for this week?
I am thankful that the summer heat is starting to subside here and I've been able to get outside for my walking again.
I'm also thankful that I haven't had any tolerance issues with any of the foods I've tried so far, though admittedly I have been playing it safe and not branching out too much yet.
I'm also thankful that my bosses informed me of my raise for this year and it is beyond generous.

I am grateful to be making out ok despite losing my job last March.
I am grateful that my VSG happened as scheduled, that I am 2 weeks out with a basically fine recovery.
I am grateful for life, health, strength and family.
