  1. It depends on your insurance and Bariatrics centers guidelines. My policy did not require the supervised diet for BMI’s over 40. I started my process on June 23 and surgery is tomorrow, so a little over two months. There are plus’ and minus’ for an accelerated process though.
My process included; an interest seminar, consultation with surgeon, psych evaluation, abdominal ultrasound, clearance by my primary care physician, EGD, EKG, blood work, dietician consult, pre-op surgery class, and final pre-op visit with surgeon.
    Good luck!
I have to go thru most of all that to but with my work schedule and time off its going to take to do all these appointments I was thinking at least 4 to 6 months. I have to have pto for it to be paid time. Thats alot of appointments and then the time off work for recovery. Good luck with ur surgery

  2. My surgery is tomorrow at 4 pm. I am a little nervous mostly excited. I think this is the first thing I have done for MYSELF in the last 20 or so years. Im 37, Started this process at 315, been working really hard and I am at 275. Not much support from my family except for a few of them. I really am just excited, and am not much of a sharer, so I felt this was a good step to share this with everyone. I hope everyone else finds themselves well in their journey!

Congratulations, u will do great. Stick to ur plan and let no one hold u back. U deserve this.

  3. So I just found out today my surgery will be a robotic sleeve gastrectomy. I may have missed this in prior meeting, I started this journey at the end of June and it has literally all been tele-health and I’m due in surgery Monday. I am a little apprehensive already being nervous to go under anesthesia. Has anyone had their surgery done robotically?? Help!!

Yes it is all done with mechanical equipment. New and invasive its suppose to be awesome.watch 600 pd life

  4. Thanks so much big sue. My husband says people that say the bad things are jealous that i might be thinner than them. I too am having alot of concerns about making the changes to my food. I am extremely addicted to sugar and comfort foods. I am looking forward to going through the classes and learning as much as i can about everything that goes with the process. Thank u so much for ur encouragement. 🙂

  5. Thank you so much. I am kinda excited that after all these years of fighting that I am mentally ready to take such a big step but it feels like so many people are trying to convince me not to do it and all the things that will and can happen, which makes me think should I really change my mind. Thing is at my age i feel like this is a do or die situation. And if i dont, there will be no turning back and i will get all the medical issues that goes along with being so over weight.

  6. I am signing up for the gastric sleeve surgery. Mixed emotions, but hoping that this will really give me back the energy level and enjoyment in life again that i have lost in the last many years. My sign up date is Sept. 28th. I know it is going to be a long process but Im looking forward to the knowledge and support that comes with the process.

Has anyone experienced friends and others saying alot of negative things about the surgery and how bad it is going to be afterward. I mean I know there is risks and all, but some keep telling me its not a quick fix and all of the horrible things they know others have had, or had themselves.

Is this normal for others to discourage you like this?
