Dogmom68 got a reaction from Tomo in Sleeve to bypass hopefully
You absolutely need to contact your surgeon ASAP! I developed terrible GERD about 6 months after my VSG and have been living with it for about a year. It truly is horrible. My heart goes out to you. I wonder if you have a severe hiatal hernia which would cause your extreme reaction. Regardless, please call your doctor as soon as they open in the morning! You sound like you would be a prime candidate for a revision to your surgery. I really hope things get better. Please keep us posted.🙏🏻💕💕

I would definitely mention it to your surgeon for a real answer!
But if I was guessing (which I am btw): If it’s only happening when drinking cool to cold drinks maybe the temperature is causing vasoconstriction which is causing cramping. Maybe stick to warmer fluids until you and your surgeon figure out why it’s happening.

Hi! I had a revision of my sleeve (VSG) to RNY on 8/29/22 for a hiatal hernia repair and severe acid reflux. Since then I feel like I’m doing okay and no longer have any acid reflux symptoms. My only concern is every time I drink something cold to room temperature my stomach hurts really bad. I can sip on warm Bone Broth and that doesn’t seem to bother me much. I know I’m just out of surgery and healing but should I still be feeling pain in my stomach almost two weeks out? Any insight as to why this is happening would be greatly appreciated! 😊

I've always been a slow loser and the scale is my nemesis. I'm considering just monthly weigh-ins, so I can look at it like your cousin. It does keep adding up over time, we're all impatient! And I've said before, we read these forums at there's some statistical outlier who loses a bazillion lbs in 3 weeks and we hope maybe this time it will be us!

Graduated to soft foods today it feels nice, but I noticed I feel full quickly, but honestly no complaints here.
So what’s funny to me & my father whenever it’s “time to eat” or “I should be eating” I start to obsess about what food sounds tasty or reminisce about yummy food I had in the past. I literally google random recipes just to look at the pictures lol . Once I eat though the desire to dwell on past deliciousness is over it’s so odd to me!

    Hey there.
mine is sept 20 too. My doctor only gave me a 1 week pre op and he said to have a broth based Soup and an egg. I started it two weeks out anyway because I wanted to get my body used to the diet since it’s similar post opp. It is definitely a struggle but it gets better. I have less headaches now than I did Monday, and I find myself less irritable. Wednesday was really bad I was so so hangry.

I would encourage you to check with your doc or nutritionist to see if anything else can be added like a Greek yogurt or Jello. Or even the soup broth.

    good luck. We’ve got this!

You may be surprised that you aren’t as hungry as you think. The Protein in the shake should fill you up for quite a while. I am a year and a half out and I still have a Protein Shake every morning and it fills me up until lunch. I do this by choice and obviously wouldn’t if I was hungry. Now protein does nothing for head hunger though. Are you allowed sugar free popsicles or Jello? Those helped me to feel like I was actually chewing something which I missed during my post op liquid diet

My kiddo is actually trying to be independent and fend for herself so it has not been too bad actually! Granted she is living off chicken nuggets and pizza and whatever her boyfriend decides to feed her on date nights. I am proud of her.

Good morning from broiling hot San Diego (100+ temps twice this week)!

The scale finally decided to move a pound after a 4-day standstill. See, I knew it would show up eventually.
Tomorrow is exciting because I have some real foods planned now that I can have soft foods. Vegetarian tuna salad + broccoli. Low-fat cottage cheese + peaches. Scrambled eggs + cantaloupe. All fruit skinless and mashed. Broccoli well steamed and mashed.
I'm getting in plenty of activity with moving prep (under 3 weeks until the movers come) with regular breaks as I can't stand long thanks to a mobility disability. Doing what I can but not overdoing it.

My doctor is okay with coffee, but I tried it and it didn't taste good to me. I'm having a 1/2 cup of black tea in the morning, plus herbal tea other times and it seems fine. I do eyeing my espresso maker, like baby, I'll be back someday!

Hi guys. This is only my second post in the community at all. My surgery is September 29th. My preop diet is not just liquids. Infact I can eat but it has to be under 30 carbs a day. My plan is to drink Protein Shakes for Breakfast and lunch and eat low carb dinner. I want to make sure my liver shrinks and I lose weight in the process. I know it'll be hard. However, I am thinking about starting this diet tomorrow to give me time to practice and mess up before I have to officially start and not mess up. Plus I am just gaining more weight by not dieting right now. I want to practice my new life style while I have a chance to mess up basically. What do yall think of this? If so, I am going to start tomorrow.
A little about me I am 5' 6". HW 387 CW 345 SW ? GW 125? I don't know how to choose a good goal weight lol. I just want to be smaller than my husband who is 135. Maybe ill just see what looks good on me. However I do want to lose 200 pounds at least. I am nervous about failing again. I had the lapband when I was 19 and it never worked for me. I quickly learned to eat around it. However I was in an abusive relationship at the time and attempted suicide at the time. I was not ready for it. I am in a much better place now and I am ready for real change. I am just nervous it wont work for me. I have binge eating disorder and what if that doesn't go away? WIll I still have food on my mind 24/7? I just want to be able to say no to food. i only can now because of my vyvanse. Ugh. Im just rambling. I am sorry. Will this forum stay open after we have our surgeries or will it move to a different forum? Idk. I am just ready to have this surgery. Time until September 29th is moving so slow.

I had a PSL the other day as a small treat. I got a single pump instead of two and got it Decaf with fat free milk. It was definitely a nice treat but I only drank about 1/3 of it before I just couldn’t drink anymore lol. Pretty sure we can have coffee as long as it is decaf with no sugar in it.

I'm off my birth control for surgery, and guess what decided to show up today. Before BC, I'd have a very long, heavy, and painful period, hopefully that won't happen again. Surgery is Tuesday.
