  1. I’ve lost 125 lbs since my RNY and am seeking advice about treating sagging skin on the face. It’s really bothering me so I know eventually I’ll have something done. I’m wondering what other WL patients have done to treat sagging skin on the face. I.e.: lower face lift? full face lift? Fillers? Radiofrequency treatment? Micro needling? Any advice would be most welcome and greatly appreciated!!!
  2. I had a full RNY revision from VSG due to reflux and a hiatal hernia and it really helped me! I wish I had just had the RNY from the start. So happy I had the revision!
  3. I would avoid gastric sleeve simply because post operative GERD is very common afterward. I had never had any type of reflux until after my sleeve. I eventually had a revision from sleeve to bypass and it helped. I wanted to ask you about esophageal spasms and nutcracker esophagus. I’m in the process of having a diagnosis determined for the pain I have when I eat anything with any kind of texture or “substance” to it. This has been going on for about 9 months (following my sleeve to bypass revision.) I also have esophageal spasms that hurt so bad I feel like I’m going to pass out. Does any of this sound familiar to you and how long did it take for you to be diagnosed? Are you taking any medications that help? Any information you can share would be greatly appreciated!!!

    I did it!!! I lost 100 pounds!!!!

Congratulations!🎉 Your hard work, commitment, and dedication paid off! Absolutely wonderful!💕
  5. I’m so glad I came across this thread! I’ve lost 100lbs since my surgery and my breast have lost all shape and volume. I never had really large breasts to begin with but now what I did have is completely gone and ‘deflated.’ Did those of you who had breast lifts see a reconstruction specialist? I feel like those of us who have lost a LOT of weight kinda fit in a category all our own. Also, I’m wondering if I should consider implants as well. Most of my adult life I had a full C cup size and now my breasts are just sad on a cracker.

    Reactive Hypoglycemia

Hi! I’m so glad to have found this discussion! I’ve been experiencing episodes of hypoglycemia that come on so quickly. I will admit that one time I drank a sugary drink and man, did I pay for it! (I had GB almost 3 weeks ago.) My blood sugar only drops into the mid 50s but I feel absolutely horrible. Sweating, shaking, feeling like I’m going to pass out… I see my doctor tomorrow as one of my follow up appointments so I’m going to ask about the other times where nothing I did seemed to instigate the sudden drop in blood sugar. Can anyone offer suggestions as to what you do when this happens? All I know to do is sip some orange juice. Thank you! 😊
  7. Once you get going on drinking plenty of fluids and taking your vitamins, it’s really not bad at all! I know it seems that way when you read everything I wrote but (seriously!) you’ll be fine! I was just trying to think of a the tips I’ve learned along the way. I had my VSG 18 months ago and my GB 2 weeks ago. I’ve read so much and received so much information from veteran patients I just wanted to share what I knew. I know you’ll do well. People on this site are very helpful. All you have to do is ask if you have questions about things. 😁
  8. Sip your water CONSTANTLY! Don’t allow yourself to get dehydrated. If you do, (I did) then call your doctor and they’ll arrange for you to get some IV fluids. Don’t worry so much about hitting your protein goals for the first few days. Just keep drinking. Start incorporating some bone broth and protein waters. (My fave is the blue Protein2O.) Walk some to get the gas they fill you with to move! Take chewable GasX. After about two weeks start your chewable vitamins (I take Barimelts. Multivitamin with iron, B12, Biotin, and Probiotic.) Add in Zinc along with your Biotin to avoid hair loss. Take Senekot to help with constipation. I’m trying to think of anything else I do….. I hope this helps!! 😁👍🏻
  9. Best of luck!!! You’ll do great!😊
  10. That’s my plan, too!! Can’t wait to hit my 100 pound weight loss. Twenty pounds to go! Once I get there I’m calling a plastic surgeon for a consult. 😁👍🏻
  11. Good luck to everyone who has surgery tomorrow!! You all are going to do great! Remember to sip, sip, sip your water! My surgery was two weeks ago and I’m only down 10 lbs so far but it’s a marathon; not a race. I had a revision from VSG to RNY. No acid reflux! Hurray!!!😁🎉

3 years post VSG to RNY

Hi! I had a revision of my sleeve (VSG) to RNY on 8/29/22 for a hiatal hernia repair and severe acid reflux. Since then I feel like I’m doing okay and no longer have any acid reflux symptoms. My only concern is every time I drink something cold to room temperature my stomach hurts really bad. I can sip on warm bone broth and that doesn’t seem to bother me much. I know I’m just out of surgery and healing but should I still be feeling pain in my stomach almost two weeks out? Any insight as to why this is happening would be greatly appreciated! 😊
  14. Hi September buddies! I’ve had a crazy week after my surgery on 8/29. I’ve been struggling with gas pain and swelling; my tummy is so swollen and sore. I have huge bruising near my incision sites, too. I got really nauseated day before yesterday and started vomiting. I really felt terrible! So I ended up back at the surgery center to get IV fluids. I was really dehydrated. Im feeling sooo much better today! I have some meds for nausea now and lidocaine Patches for areas near my incisions that are very sore. Im still the same weight as my surgery day so I guess I should be thankful I didn’t gain due to all the swelling! Im living on Jello, Bone Broth, popsicles, and a LOT of water!

Thank you! I’m feeling much better already! I just want my tummy to stop being soooo swollen and sore!

    August surgery buddies!

We took every precaution before surgery to prevent nausea: oral medication, sublingual meds, and a scopolamine patch behind my right ear. I wasn’t nauseous at all with my VSG but I still talked to anesthesia and told them I do tend to get sick kinda easily. I was okay while I was in the hospital. I walked up and down the halls with my IV pole a couple of times and felt fine! No problems going to the ladies’ room or drinking water. At least this time (for my RNY) I’m not having any problems swallowing. I think once I got home I just wasn’t staying on top of my fluid intake and started getting really dehydrated. I called my surgeon’s office and they told me to go to the surgery center; they would call ahead to get me set up for IV fluids. Once I got the IVs, I felt okay! My tummy is still just sooo sore, swollen, and bruised. I think that might be from the hiatal hernia repair. The lidocaine patches are helping tremendously. I’m even using ice packs across my tummy to help with swelling but they aren’t helping alleviate any of it. I’m doing everything they’ve told me to do but I’m still soooo sore. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this swelling improves in the next few days!

    August surgery buddies!

Thank you for sharing your experience! I have an abdominal binder and am wondering if that will help me after the surgery. I used one after my hysterectomy and it was a godsend! I’ll definitely remember to keep lots of pillows handy, though!

    August surgery buddies!

Well, tomorrow is the big day. I have to be at the hospital at 6:30 am. I’m an early riser so it’s no big deal. I’m feeling a little nervous and hoping everything goes well with my hiatal hernia repair and then the RNY. I hear the recovery from the hernia repair is pretty rough so I’m dreading that. I’m nervous but ready to get this show on the road!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🙏🏻😁

    August surgery buddies!

Can you tolerate a chewable vitamin? Sometimes when I take too many pills it makes me feel really nauseous so I switched awhile back to Barimelts chewable supplements. It’s really helped me stay on track with taking my vitamins. You might try them. I take the multivitamin with iron, calcium, biotin, probiotic, and B12. (If you decide to order them, use code Kimh20 to get 20% off.)
  23. I had an EGD and barium swallow test. The EGD documented my hiatal hernia but the barium test showed my GERD wasn’t severe enough for the revision from VSG to RNY. My hiatal hernia is being repaired and is covered by my insurance but the revision to RNY was denied. I had to pay out of pocket for the revision ($2600.) My surgery is on Monday 8/29.

    August surgery buddies!

If I remember correctly, I wasn’t supposed to take supplements until after my first post-op appointment. Then I just started taking them regularly. I take Barimelts. Multivitamin with iron, Biotin, Calcium, and Probiotic. My regular vitamins (pills) are additional iron (I needed it according to my bloodwork), B12 , and D3. My bloodwork has been excellent since my VSG 18 months ago. I’m getting ready to have a revision from VSG to RNY so some my routine may change. I read a lot and watched YouTube videos about vitamin supplements so they were very helpful. To be honest, it can’t hurt to take water soluble vitamins. It’s the fat soluble vitamins that you have to be careful not to overdo. That’s where your bloodwork will be extra helpful. 😁

    August surgery buddies!

I did really well after my VSG except for some difficulty drinking water. That hurt! But I didn’t have nausea or much pain either. I was up and walking the halls pretty quickly, too. I’m getting ready to have a revision to my sleeve (VSG to RNY due to hiatal hernia and GERD) and I hope this surgery goes as well as my last! Sounds like you’re doing great! Be thankful and roll with it! 💕
