  1. Hello all!

Just wanting to check in with all of my October 2020 folks to see how everyone is doing.
I just started my regular foods phase at the beginning of February and can tolerate pretty much anything. My biggest struggle right now is feeling hungry all of the time. It’s something that I’ve unfortunately had a hard time with since about 1month out.
As far as weight loss goes, I seem to lose slowly and in waves. Lose, stall, lose, stall, rinse and repeat. :) I have to say that even though this journey has been hard work, I’m feeling good, down 4 sizes, increased mobility, and increased energy!

    Here are my numbers:

    Age: 48

    HW-299 (April, 2020)

    SW-269 (October 28th,2020)

    CW-220

  2. So interestingly, I mentioned my constant “head hunger” since week two during my most recent nurse visit (I’m 6 weeks now), and she said that it is not necessarily head hunger. It could very well be real hunger since they can’t guarantee that they got every last cell of ghrelin during the VSG. It’s hard because I don’t trust my own body anymore. Am I hungry? I don’t know. Am I full? Not sure.
Here’s to hoping it gets sorted out soon!

  3. Day 1 and 2 weren't the greatest, but I also had a hiatal hernia repair that made it pretty painful to take a deep breath. By day 3 and 4 I started to feel pretty good. I took two weeks off of work to recover and just went back this past Monday. Things went fine, but I learned not to do too much too fast! I've got some new pain that I didn't have before returning to work!

I am 5 days post op. I got my drain out today. And literally ever since I have been feeling soooooooo hungry. Omg. I tried "eating" a little more of my broth, didn't help. Tried doing a Protein Shake, hasn't helped. And I'm feeling hangry and just want to eat . Has anyone else had this problem.? Please tell me it goes away. I've been doing good not really feeling hunger, but today is horrible !!!

Hi Joanne - I' 6 days post op and feel like I've been hungry since day 3! My program has me on Clear Liquids until my 1st post op appointment which is 8 days post op. I am so hungry, and it's definitely not head hunger, it's real hunger. I can't tell you how excited I am to move to the full liquids stage. I don't need to feel full, I just don't want to be hungry.:) I'm hoping other people who have gotten a sleeve and are further out can confirm that being hungry in the beginning is normal for some people!

My friend pointed me here sooo happy she did. Being able to read about other people experience is nice I feel less alone

I had my op on the 15th but thing never go as expected lol seems i had a hiatus hernia, they fixed it but as I started to awake I found I could not draw breath (15 days down I can just now pull 3000ml on the flow thingy)kind of scary ,has any one else had this ?

Thanks in advance and hi all :)

    Doug

Hi Doug - I had my surgery on the 28th and also had a hiatal hernia fixed. I am experiencing the same thing. They keep telling me that it's normal because of the gas and hernia repair and to keep using the spirometer (breathing thingy) - so I do. I'm still going to call in tomorrow and keep asking though!

  6. Two days post op and I'm back home now. Managing pain Ok. The worst pain I had was from the hiatal hernia repair that was done at the same time as the VSG. Wow ouch. It's still hard to take a deep breath. Now I'm just working on getting in enough Clear Liquids to stay hydrated, getting up to walk around, and trying to get some sleep. I can't seem to get comfortable in bed! Hope all the October folks are doing well!

Have my sleeve surgery on Tuesday (27th) and I've gone from excited to pretty much terrified. Any tips?

Mine is on Wednesday the 28th. I'm terrified too. I am hoping that this will be the start to a healthier life, but of course I am afraid of the recovery process. A calm mind and healing thoughts your way :)

Let us know how it goes!
