  1. I agree with you on the being cold. I was always the guy wearing shorts in winter, but not anymore. Ive been cold since October lol. And the second one that is very important is finding coping skills with life. Many of us used food before, and I think its really important to recognize the feelings and deal with them, rather than ignore them and push them down. Finding new healthy ways to unwind, deal with stress, and find joy have been pillars of my recovery.
  2. Well I started my journey at 315 lbs pre surgery. I got to 275 on surgery day with 10 months of dietician. Today I am exactly two months post op. And it made my day this morning to weigh in at 239!!!!! I cant ever remember being this weight. Besides buying new clothes and having them not fit in a month this has been the most rewarding, hard, scary and fulfilling thing I have done in a very long time. I hope all of you are feeling fulfilled and proud too. Keep up the good work!
  3. Im in the first month still, starting week 3. I was getting 400-550 a day, but my surgeons office is pretty adamant that I get 600-800. I am not sure if that is for everyone, or because I'm 6'1 guy...... But I have a hard time getting that many calories. I am more comfortable right around 500. I am sure it is different for everyone, our bodies are all so different.
  4. Today I start my week 2 diet which is my "puree" stage. I can have things like egg salad, some beans, cottage cheese. I dont think I have ever been so happy to try new food. I guess being on a liquid diet for 2 weeks pre and 1 week post is really starting to get to me....

    Medical marijuana card

I am in Cali. Thank god lol. I did my surgery through insurance. I was honest about my marijuana use. I was drug tested and of course that’s all that came up. I wasn’t asked to quit. Although I did 2 weeks before surgery. And have started partaking again about 1 week after. No issues here.

How to keep protein drinks cold

Personally, I bought some 2 ounce cups off amazon. I keep my premier protein in the fridge and just fill the two ounce cup when Im ready for more. I havent gone back to work yet, But I have a fridge in my office, so I will keep that stocked up too.

    2 days away

I know exactly what you are saying. The process took about a year for me, and I just had my surgery monday. It felt like it would never come. But I feel quite accomplished and happy now that I am on the other side. You will be there before you know it. Hang in there and stay positive!

    Anyone for August 2020

Im 3 days out, had my surgery on the 31st. Still on the liquid phase, but tolerating every thing well. Going much better than expected, I was worried at first. Keep it up!Insert other media
  10. Congratulations! You Will do fine. It definitely is a scary thing when it gets close. I had a sleeve, I just had it done Monday. From start to finish with my insurance it was almost a year process. I was really nervous on surgery day, it was the first operation I have had as an adult. But it went super well, and Im at home trying to figure out how to eat now lol. You will do fine, just keep your eye on the prize!

    Post op liquid diet

Thanks everyone. Yes, I am drinking (sipping) water throughout the day. yesterday I got 24oz, today I will probably get 32 oz in because I started earlier. I really apprciate everyones comments, they are so so helpful
  12. I am two days out from my surgery right now. My doctor has me on a clear liquid diet for two more days, then full liquid diet. Question is this, I really haven't been able to get much down by now. Is that normal based on your experience? Yesterday, my first day home, I had about 6 oz of premiere protein clear. And some water. Thats really all I could manage. I am having 4oz of the premier protein clear for breakfast this morning, and will try to do 4oz at lunch and dinner time too. Is this normal?

    Surgery Tomorrow!

Well I just got home. For all of you that are scared for the surgery or uneasy, all in all it was very easy. It was my first surgery, (as a little kit I had tonsils taken out) and looking back on it there was very little to scared of. The absolute worst part was that I can't sleep in weird places so I was up all night last night waiting for them to release me the next morning. So I spent most of the night walking around staying moving. As far as pain, the worst part is the gas they fill you with, I still feel some of that. So, for all of you that are unsure or scared, you can definitely do it.
  14. My surgery is tomorrow at 4 pm. I am a little nervous mostly excited. I think this is the first thing I have done for MYSELF in the last 20 or so years. Im 37, Started this process at 315, been working really hard and I am at 275. Not much support from my family except for a few of them. I really am just excited, and am not much of a sharer, so I felt this was a good step to share this with everyone. I hope everyone else finds themselves well in their journey!

    So disappointed in people

I will jump right in with zero support here too. My surgery is on Monday and I have been working so hard to get here. We are doing this for us not for them. So just keep going!
