I am so sorry he has not been supportive or understanding of this decision, I know how it makes a huge difference when the people we love put effort into understanding us and being there for us. It seems that he does not see the value in having a more confident, happier, healthier girlfriend and what a difference that could make in so many aspects in your relationship, your life, your mental and physical health.
This decision is not about him, it is for you and about you; believe that! Please do not feel guilty or that you owe him anything from what you chose to do for your own health.

I won't miss being compared to big or round animals (hippo, seals etc.) instead of cute little ones when given nicknames (it sounds silly but it does hurt!).
I won't miss my thighs rubbing and the sweating in my back fat!!
I won't miss people grabbing my back fat to remind me of the weight i put on.
I won't miss worrying about being the biggest person in the room.
I won't miss people judging or criticizing my lifestyle simply because I was bigger.
I won't miss people telling me how "I gained so much weight" infront of a crowd as if I was not aware of it.
I won't miss being called the chubby girl.
I won't miss feeling guilty after eating.
I won't miss feeling insecure at any social event due to my size.
I won't miss feeling tired all the time.

I wish I'd known about stalls. I wasn't expecting them and they're depressing but normal.

So I started reading your post, and this was the first thing I noticed. I had to stop and start responding right away. This is a RED FLAG. This decision was not about him, it was for you.

A lot of people who are uninformed about the surgery say this. Every person that has ever had bariatric surgery knows that it isn't true.

I am very sorry to hear that he does not support you with your decision. I hope you remember that this decision wasn't about him. The fact that he continues to demand an explanation of how this will benefit him is a bad sign.
I am very proud of you for doing what is best for you. I hope you continue with doing so because your life isn't about anyone but you and thus you should try your best to make decisions that result in your own happiness even if it means leaving people behind. ❤️

osherz got a reaction from Hop_Scotch in Weight not going down!
Hi everyone! I’m new here and I’m very excited to be part of the BariatricPal community.

I finally did my Gastric Sleeve procedure on the 5th of August 2020 (yay!), so I’m at 12 days post-op. My weight loss has been great, i started at 85.5 kgs (188 lbs) and I’m currently at 77.9 kgs (171 lbs).

I’ve lost about 7.5 kgs (16.5 lbs) in about the first 9 days. However my weight has been stuck on the same number for a few days now and I was scared I might have done something wrong. How can I make it change again?it’s been affecting my attitude towards my weight loss. As per my prescribed diet, I am still on soft food and liquids.

I know I’m still very early in my journey and there will definitely be more weight loss to come especially during the first 6 months; but I was wondering if anybody else might have experienced this and what they did to change that?

Thank you sooo much for the support ❤️

    With love,
    Oshah

You only have to read about half the posts here to realise that is very common to stall in weight loss in the early weeks.
Typically people have lost weight immediately prior to the surgery, they sometimes lose a fair bit of weight within a couple of weeks of surgery, there is inflammation, Fluid retention, progression through the food stages....all this and possibly more plays a part in stalls early on.
Given your lowish weight on surgery date, you've actually lost a fair bit of weight in the short time since surgery.
Assuming you are following all your post op guidelines you will be fine, weight loss will pick up again when your body has adjusted a little bit.
Note that going forward, as you commenced from a fairly low weight base, your weight loss is likely to be slow and lower than those who started with more weight.

    I do not miss:
    - Thighs rubbing and chafing all summer
    - hating myself everytime I caught a glimpse in the mirror
    - being too big to exercise comfortably
    - having to buy bras in the old frumpy lady section
    - literally everything else associated with being obese. I am 100% happier than I was before surgery.

I don’t miss my sweaty thighs rubbing together or breathing heavily walking up a flight of stairs. And I certainly don’t miss having to wear flat or low heels because my feet ached & burned - bring on the 4inch heels again.

I won't miss needing to turn the lights off in the bedroom because I am so disgustingly fat, or strategically trying to hide my rolls in bed with sheets or pillows; or having to drink 3/4 of bottle of wine to feel comfortable about my body in bed, and then waking up sick & hungover the next day.
I won't miss having to buy new clothes every few weeks or months because none of my clothes fit again.
I won't miss having multiple size wardrobes depending for what stage of fat I am. I look forward to wearing one size for the rest of my life,
I won't miss having to wear two underwire bras at all times, because my breasts are so enormous and heavy.
I won't miss the backaches, neckaches and shoulderaches that go with enormous, fat breasts.
I won't miss not being able to wear cute, attractive clothes, and having to wear tents when I am in public.
I won't miss pretending to be sick and not going to events or parties, because I am afraid that people will see how fat I got. I will not miss the disapproving looks of my husband's family when they see my weight gain, when we fly home to see them.
I won't miss people saying that they did not recognize me (because I got so fat again - my weight fluctuates by around 100+ pounds)
I won't miss the acid reflux that was part of being fat (and hope that my sleeve does not cause it to return!)
I won't miss peeing every time I laugh/sneeze/cough. Stress incontinence is 1,000% worse for me when I am obese.
I won't miss developing herniated discs & sciatica because of the pressure of the weight on my back (I had disc surgery right before my sleeve, and hope that the weight loss helps me not reherniate)
I won't miss being exhausted all the time, and not having the energy to work out, or not being able to physically handle working out. I won't miss not being able to do active, fun things like hike, mountain bike, swim, snorkle and ski.
I won't miss getting winded after two or three stairs and having to catch my breath.
I won't miss ducking out of photos, because I don't want there to be a record of how fat I am.
I won't miss seeing my HA1C going up every time I get blood work, along with lipids, etc, and knowing I am developing diabetes and heart disease.
I won't miss my joints hurting when I walk, and waddling down the road as my thighs painfully rub together.
I know there are more thing's I won't miss about being fat, but can't think of them now!
