I am in the “mushy” food stage and am unsure how much to eat. I have stuck to 2oz per meal. Are there others that have been eating more?

    What does your plan say?
When you are at an eating (chewing) stage it would probably be OK, aside from the fact grapes have a fair amount of sugar. Be sure to chew extremely well, because the skins may ball up and plug things.
    Good luck.

    Wow.
First of all, there is nothing selfish about taking control of your health by getting surgery. We all have the right to make smart choices about our health and our bodies, and you should be congratulated for taking the next step. You also have every right to Celebrate your weight loss success after surgery and to find joy in everyday life that may have eluded you before.
I'm not a psychologist, but I think it's pretty clear that your husband does NOT support your surgery. Saying you should think through your decision by giving you all the possible negative repercussions seems like a passive/aggressive attempt to talk you out of it. As you said, it's emotional abuse.
If you can't get him to go the therapy, you should address this with your therapist (if you haven't already) so you can separate you own needs from your husband's attempts to control you. This decision might be the catalyst you need to explore whether your marriage is worth saving.
Of course, I can't pretend to understand the dynamics of your marriage, but that's my honest assessment based on the information you have provided. Best wishes for whatever decision you make, and know that you will have a supportive community here throughout your journey.

While I was on the call with her, she told me to get on my computer and order it. She gave me the website, walked me thru to where the powder was located on the page, and then asked "did you complete the order?". She said she wanted to make sure I was getting it and buying the right thing.

Hi everyone. Just saw the Bariatric program nurse and we were troubleshooting what happened. She feels that even light mayo is too much fat to tolerate at the purée stage for some. She recommended using fat free plain yogurt instead. We discussed how not having good coping mechanisms for stress led me to seek out pleasure from food and take in more then was appropriate. I’ve had stress with my mother, my daughter and my dog this past week and my normal way to deal is to devour something rich and put myself in a food coma. Because I tried to use my old method with my teeny stomach pouch I caused a bolus of food to get stuck. In some ways I wonder if I did this so I could get everyone to get off my back this week. Not consciously but maybe a self sabotage so everyone would have to fend for themselves. I see it now but I didn’t see it then. I’ve got to stay self-aware while eating. This was too traumatic of an experience to repeat.

I use the recommended tool of minimizing the size of the dish and utensils. I bought crystal 1 oz. shot glasses to make me enjoy the experience more since shot glasses are recommended. That is what I most often use to measure my food and Snacks and often eat from. I also use appetizer spoons (or child/baby spoons) which are pretty and small. These tools definitely help to make me eat less and slower. They also make me think.
That being said, yes, I have overeaten when I don't feel like following rules and don't stop before I am full. When the food all gets to where it is headed, misery. But I was told that it will settle down after about 20 minutes. I was also told not to lay down until it clears but with my system, I have to lay down to give the gas room to roll up or down. It helps me to relax my stomach and esophagus and keep me from tensing up making it worse. Having gastritis has given me much experience.
We are all going through learning experiences and will probably all make mistakes along the way, however, we are not alone on this journey. This was definitely a scare but I hope you find the courage to kick ass.

I’m so glad to hear that you are doing well! Don’t be ashamed. Our bodies sometimes feel better than we thought and we thought we can speed up the process. We all just have to respect the process and know that along with the doctors, nutritionists and ourselves we will succeed! 🤗

Hello all. I am in a room in the hospital and the doctor felt I had a temporary obstruction from eating canned fish that wasn’t moist enough with mayo. He is trying me back at square one with Clear Liquids tonight. I was so petrified because of the uncontrollable vomiting. I also got drenched from head to toe with sweat. I screwed up by eating too much at a time I ate at least five ounces of salmon in less then an hour. Too overconfident! Plus I don’t pay attention when I eat. I watch television at the same time. No more of that! Very scary experience!

Day 10 - a good day indeed. Today I got what I can only describe as a whoosh. Energy level is up. My daily walk was brisk and free of foot neuropathy. I ate 950 calories today. The most I have been able to get in so far. I met my Protein intake of 60 grams and had delicious Blended butternut squash and carrot Cashew soup! I went shopping for new wrist weights and I ordered a new bed. I promised myself a new bed because my old one has a huge depression where my very large bottom was. I feel better today then I have in a long time. Tomorrow is my first check up with the doctor. I’m only ten days out but I hope he advances me to purée. I’m dying to make chicken salad and feel some real food in my mouth. Feeling real good about my choice.

Wow... I can't believe your PCP said that. Less than a week before surgery is not the time to bring that up.
You are the only one who can make that decision. I am terrible at making decisions so I know the feeling of wishing someone else would just make the decision for me. It was a much easier decision for me because I had a much higher BMI as well as comorbidities, but I still questioned my decision right up until surgery day, since I had already lost a lot of weight before surgery and wondered if I should try again to lose the rest on my own. To be perfectly honest, I often wonder why people with a BMI as low as 35 want to go through the ordeal of surgery, but it's a very personal decision.
I don't know what caused you to go down this path in the first place, but for most of us, it is a pretty long journey to get insurance approvals and meet the pre-surgery requirements. I'm sure you have put a lot of thought into this already. What I have read about decisions is that you should not make big decisions when you're in a heightened emotional state. I'd say that having anxiety through the roof qualifies. So look back on the reasons you made the decision in the first place when you were calm and had time to consider the pros and cons rationally.
I don't know how old you are, but I have been obese my whole adult life, and I first looked into WLS more than 15 years ago. At the time, I was in my 20s and didn't have any health problems, and I decided against the surgery back then because I was afraid of the risk of giving up my good health just to lose some weight. But it has caught up with me now and that's why I decided to have surgery at this point. Sometimes I wish I had done it earlier because I feel like I have missed out on so much in life because of my weight, but I also have a feeling that I wasn't ready to change my lifestyle back then and I might not have been successful (of course, I'm only a month out, so I can't say that I'll be successful now, but I do think I am much more ready to make the necessary changes now than I was 15 years ago). So remember that if you're not ready now, you can change your mind and get it later.
I know that probably wasn't helpful because I gave some arguments on both sides, but all you can do is make the best decision you can with the information you have and make the most of it. Good luck!

The important thing to understand is that it’s not a straight line. Even within a single day right now the body fluctuates in terms of recovery. I’m trying to document it best as possible for those coming after me down the road to recovery.

It went away on its own. I know what I did wrong. I added three new items to my diet in one day and my stomach pouch probably wasn’t ready for that.

Dumping syndrome can happen to anyone after having any type of bariatric surgery. Pasta, rice, and noodles and bread all have sugar in then so the suggestion is to eat minimally. They are carbs.

Shell4451 reacted to PlanetHopper in My operation after 2 days
During my first two days after VSG, I did a lot of sleeping. My surgery was in the morning. Once I woke up I spent most of my time coming out of anesthesia. I recall going in and out of sleep for a while. I walked around a lot. I wasn't able to sleep that night because they were pumping me full of liquids and I had to go to the bathroom every 30 minutes or so. I don't think that happens to everyone. I personally did experience extreme pain outside of the gas pain that everyone talks about. The pain I had was not in my chest or shoulders, it was in my abdomen. From what I have read, everyone experiences a different level of pain. The next day I went home and slept a lot for the next 3-4 days. I would get up and take short walks around my apartment and immediately sit back down. I was very tired all the time. I was off my pain prescription after the third day.
Drink as much as you can, but know that you may not hit the 60 oz goal immediately after surgery. Just do your best and you will be fine.
