I haven't quite hit Onederland yet, still seven pounds away for me and 26 pounds to my goal weight, but I remember a few weeks back when I bought a size large shirt and size 14 pants on a whim just to see if I fit in them and... I DID! I cried! I was in a size 6xl and size 32 pants when the year started and now I'm in a large shirt and 14 pants! This year has been a roller coaster of ups and downs, but I'm so glad I did this surgery. I NEVER thought I'd get into a size 14! I haven't been in a size 14 since I was 12! (I'm 33 so 21 years ago!) Congrats on hitting Onederland and keep up the good work!

Congrats and welcome to Onderland! It sounds like you and I are pretty similar in our starting stats. Though it sounds like you’re taller than me (going by what size you wear with what your weight is compared to what size I was in at that weight lol)

keep up the great work! You’ll hit that goal in no time. I have about 30lbs until what’s considered “normal” weight

Well we had a major snowstorm here in the Southern Tier of NY with over 4 ft of snow-I think shoveling all day yesterday put me over the top with weight loss lol. I woke up this morning and FINALLY got that scale to move under the 200 lb mark (no stall but just a slow down in the last week or so).
I started a new job a few weeks ago at a factory and adding more hours this last week for Christmas with overtime. I am on my feet with some heavy lifting and physical activity but it's helping with the exercise part. I had gained about a lb a week ago and figured it was for the muscle content with the increased movement to my daily normal activity but now it's going down fast again.
Also marks 100 lb weight loss since program start this year-holy cow! My Dr and hospital scales are all one lb less then my scale-actually down to 197- but who's counting that close? ME, that's who! lol.
I don't think many people outside of this group can understand how much my life has changed and is changing for this surgery. I work and am tired but no excrutiating pain for days after with just a few hours on my feet. Honestly I can bend, move and be fast with productivity at my workplace and feel awesome with a good day of work. I can take a freakin bath!!!! and feel just so skinny! My husband and I have a renewed relationship in all aspects but one aspect not mentioning that has been awesome :-)! Hey, I'm old-not dead lol.
I sit down and have room with my animals able to sit on a lap that I now have and I am able to easily bend to clean the pens, guinea pig areas and even to play with my chihuahuas or walk with my family. It's just surreal how different and wonderful I feel. Oh I have my precious Holland Lop bunnies that are basically free roam and 9 guinea pigs rescued. I clean constantly and able to do that on top of work with really no problems.
40 more lbs to go. My birthday was Jan 21 of this year- I turned 48 and hit an unbelievable depression. I truly hated myself as the scale approached 300 lbs and I couldn't even walk. That's what spurred the research for medical weight loss and was able to start the program a month later-changed my life!! So grateful!
I now wear a size 16/18-holy cow! Last year I barely fit a size 28.

Look at you!!!! You look just wonderful and I know you feel so skinny! You did awesome work for real-you should be proud. You go!
I've learned there's some bias with the surgery as well but WTH! I'm 50 and proud of how much better I feel now! I do go on my normal media outlet with support of family and friends and keep only people I know well on it but get tons of support. However, they can get sick of seeing this old girl's photos everytime I've lost 20 lbs or get new sizes lol. For their sanity my cute pets are posted mostly instead lol. I also have friends who are still close to my beginning weight with really bad health problems that won't have the surgery who I want to be sensitive to.
Like many of the members here, I'm a bit older and had many health problems for the long term dieting and obesity that my life revolved around. My largest fear was the NAFLD stage 2 that prompted me to go ahead with the surgery. They said I had maybe 5 years before a liver transplant and would hit NASH. I had liver biopsies and fibroids with labs constantly. It was scary for my family and myself.
Now, I'm down 86 lbs (starting weight was just under 300 lbs) and getting close to my hundred lb loss too (ONEDERLAND!!!). I feel awesome and better, last labs and fibroid showed I am down to stage 1 with reversal showing! Man, I could care less what people thought; I plastered my saggy but skinny butt all over for my friends and family to see and all my neighbors have really been so supportive for how I look now lol.
You avoided all this by getting to where you are at and it was an awesome decision for you. This surgery adds years and gives your family a much longer time with you. You did amazing!!

I am just now at 3 months. Everyone is really different with this honestly. I had a tough time-just passing Thanksgiving, I am getting a bit more used to foods I can handle but I will be honest and say there are a lot of limits.
Some days are still worse then others-Doc said that's normal for the first year. I try to eat my normal Keto diet from before but still have to add Atkins shakes. Cold does better for me then hot so I will sometimes freeze a drink in a bowl for lunch and have that. It definitely helps.
Turkey meatballs are my staple these days if I can mix it with a little sauce. They say bread is difficult but I will have at least one or two slices of Aldi zero carb bread- it gives me a lot of Fiber and some Protein. I toast it then put either the turkey meatballs (smushed and mixed) onto the bread then let it get a bit moist or, if it's a good day, I can try some egg and then chicken that's been boiled with keto barbecue sauce (just a tad-it has about 3 net carbs).
Sometimes I can handle deli meat and cheese seems to be fine for me if I really chew well and take tiny bites. I also have my tablespoon or two of GENEPRO for the missing protein. Veggies are still really hard for me but I do take a v8 green and I have been trying little bits of apple. banana was pretty hard and other fruits can be a toss-up depending on the day.
I started to mix a bit of sweet potato mashed with almond milk and some of my boiled chicken together for some meals and peas mashed can be ok if I can handle it.
popcorn that's air-popped is doable for me and seeming the easiest to take down in small amounts (no butter or salt-just plain). I will take it as a treat- a cup or so. I also live on the sugar-free popsicles with 15 calories when my store has it in stock. Tillapia works for me some days as well if it's not baked or fried but boiled in the bag.
My calories are still only at around 800 on good days but I'm exercising well and labs are showing the genepro is doing well with the protein. Probably not the best example for you as you can be better able to handle varieties then I am right now but it's where I'm at. Had bypass Sept 1.

The apps are always weird, depending on what you use. I would ask your Dr for your specific case but even too much protein can give problems. However, percentages are misleading on apps. My Dr gives me an ideal of between 70 and 77 as a base (my age is a factor as well) but after the labs, the surgeon said I should up them another 30 or so and then get labs done again. He said it can happen that some of the protein gets flushed down with the other nutrients unable to be kept with the bypass. I'm going again on Monday to get more labs done and can update but I think shooting for between 70-90, depending on surgeries too, can be a good start.
This is one topic that I've heard a lot of different comments from Dr's varying a bit. If you can get hold of your Dr and ask for follow-up info, it can be the most helpful to your specific case.
You're doing great honestly, with trying to do the right thing and watching nutrition.

That jumpsuit is lovely MsSss. Super flattering. Have any of your other purchases arrived yet? We need pxts.
Love the green dress bayougirlMrsS. Perfect for Christmas. Did you get the blouse in green too? The pink would be pretty too. Would match my new shoes tee hee.
My mum is buying everyone jeans for Christmas but said she’d give me money to buy my own cause I was too fussy! She says fussy I say exacting standards 😂. I bought these. You know I like a wide leg. They called them barrel legs - no reflection on the shape of my legs I hope. We called them cigar legs back in the day.

Hi, I usually use GENEPRO just for the texture and lack of extra taste, less calories and more Protein. I did try Iso (without the taste) but I quickly stocked up again on my genepro. I'm working on adding more protein but the last labs I had done, the Dr said to up them by 25% over the ones I was given because the bypass will lose some of the nutrients. My protein now is around 80-90. I get about 40 of that from genepro and the rest from what I eat.

Everyone is really different with these surgeries and if it works for you, you stick with that. As long as it's ok'd by your NUT and labs are ok, go with what you like.

ichabodny got a reaction from Carmela_801 in Anyone have chest pain after drinking?
This, and how. Exactly with the little burps and hitting the sternum. I'm 3 months post-op. I just accidentally had to buy a propel Water on a trip and found the bottles it comes in to make things much easier for me, maybe the nozzle slowing it down while I drink. I do get in my 64 oz but I used to drink 96 oz easily daily and it was no problem. Now, however, I really have to stop myself from drinking too fast.
With me, times are different too. I don't know if it's because I move around more and exercise first but morning is the worst for me until mid to late afternoon. Then it seems easier to just keep drinking in small amounts. It can take me hours to drink my 16 oz and major chest pain, no matter how slow I go, until past 3 or so, then I can take the same in about 45 minutes.
Cold, or ice cold, seems to do better for me with drinking but Keto ice cream or ice cream gives me amazing pain for about a half hour after even if I melt it down. If I freeze my water, it goes down easier but this really varies per person.
Don't stress yourself too much with this-things do even out more as you go.

See if your Dr ok's GENEPRO. It's been a lifesaver for me-30 g Protein per scoop and it mixes perfectly with Water. I add a bit of zerocal flavor. It's been the best form of protein I've found.

My gastric bypass was done with the Da Vinci robot. My surgeon was oddly insistent that HE would be the one doing the surgery, not the robot, so I guess a lot of people have concerns about having their surgeries done by a robot. But really, don't get hung up on the concept of a "robot." It's really just a tool that the surgeon uses to do the surgery. It's some of the most advanced surgical equipment available, so I looked at it as a good thing. I wanted my surgeon using the latest and greatest technology.
