I'm glad that there is something here for Christian bandsters. I know we are to consider our bodies "Temples" so I'm assuming that means taking care of that body. Glad to be here. Look forward to meeting more of you here online.

Hi...I'm fairly new to the site...I haven't been banded yet...hopefully in October. I think everybody's experience with the psych has been different it seems. As far as mine goes, it was one of those blacken in the oval space type of tests. I thought most of the questions were kind of silly but I guess they can determine alot about you by them. One of the questions I can remember is Do you like to sing? Now I wonder what that would tell them? After the test was finished, I came back to talk to a psychologist and talked over the results. I think they want to determine if you're mentally stable enough to know how to handle the surgery. Good luck to you!

I'm going on 50 this September....I won't get to my goal weight by then or probably won't even be started with the surgery. I'm also looking forward to being stronger and healthier. I want to be able to not run away when I see my reflection in a mirror or a picture. Good luck to you on your adventure. Let's chat some time. Do you chat on Yahoo?

Sorry about the pcp....I guess I need my eyes checked in addition to the lap band....lol

Oh and also, I would try not to think of it as a "diet". From what I hear here, this will be your new way of life.
-
Well Angela, I think you need to think of the long term effects that type 2 diabetes can have on you. Sooner or later you'll probably have more and more medical problems. From what I've heard on this site, the success rates of this surgery sure beats continuing with diabetes. Many that I've read actually get off insulin after taking off some or all of their excess weight. I've started the process....I've done the hardest part .... making that first call for initial doctor appointment. Good luck with your decision. It sounds like your dad would be supportive of you in this, so I say Go For It!!

P.S. Thank you for being an Army wife.....(thanks to hubby too for all he does)

Haven't had the exact same situation, but I know my husband loves me as I am. Not necessarily that I'm fat, but just as I am if that makes any sense. I've heard many guys are worried that their wives may start to look for attractive to other guys. But you know what? I think he'll love you healthy too and he'll have you longer.

Welcome! I haven't been banded yet, but at least the process has been started. From what I've seen here, people are very helpful and understanding. Good luck to you!

I'm not banded yet....but good luck to you on that....sounds bothersome.

Good for you! Keep up the good work!!

Hi Becky! That's awesome! I'm proud of you!

Hi Lisa....I'm not totally sure...but when I was in for hernia surgery a nurse busted me for chewing gum because he said that it adds to your gas.....so there you go....
-
Good luck to you for success with the band. I agree with the other lady...this doesn't sound normal for a supposed "professional" We're given gut feelings for a reason....don't feel bad about changing.

How did the surgery go? Good I hope!!

 Hi fellow bandsters! I'm new to the site and very new to the Banding process. I finally made the plunge and called for my first appointment with the doctor. Man was I nervous. I don't know why...I've had a packet of info about lap banding for a year now and have been thinking of it for longer than that. Anyway, I have the dr appointment set up, the nutritionist appt set up and will make the psych appointment as soon as I can. Figured I might as well get it all out of the way. I look forward to the overwhelming support that appears to be provided on this site.
I have been overweight ever since I can remember...back to age 10-11 I think. I finally accepted where I was at with my weight so now can feel comfortable with proceeding with this procedure.
