Nikki50 got a reaction from Sammi_Katt in Newbie on my Journey ... did you keep your journey a secret
I am new here kinda just stumbled on this site. I am on my Pre-op diet it has not been bad only one day with a headache. It feels good to read positive and uplifting words of encouragement. My surgery date is July 16, i am excited but nervous because nobody can be there with me because of this pandemic. I have been very quit about this nobody knows but my 3 kids. I was wondering was any of you secretive about having surgery? i chose to keep it secret because sometimes i feel people speak before they think, like saying this is the easy way out, when that is the furthest from the truth.

This WHOLE ENTIRE POST IRKS ME. Funny how, a person who has been Obese, has the audacity to get on WLS Forum to ridicule people on their journey. You are still in your honeymoon phase of your surgery and Good For You, that you lost your excess weight, and Good For You that you had the "mental stamina" to achieve your goals and Good For You that you are "healthy and skinny". But without your WLS surgery, would you be able to stand on your high horse and scream down to the people who were once in the same boat about their struggles? This Forum, from what I know, is to help people on their journey; good, bad or indifferent. I personally, like the authenticity of posts, where people are brave enough to admit their struggles and downfalls. At least, they are willing to admit their faults and seek help. You never know what post can help somebody with the same issue. Everyone that has gone through a WLS are well aware that this road is NOT easy. This community already receives, judgement, criticisms and ridicule from other people. It's just a hard pill to swallow when its one of our "own".

I have had it done twice. First time very successful weight loss but it came undone. I had it done again after gaining weight but not so great this time and suffering terrible with reflux acid. People do say it's easy and a cheats way but not true at all. You can still eat a load of crap like chocolate and biscuits so you do still need willpower. Everyone is different. Good luck

Yes, I have decided to not share my surgery with anyone. My children and mother are the only ones I have told. Not that it’s a secret, just none of anybody’s business. The struggle is hard enough without judgement and questions.

I am just starting the process. I have my consult on Friday. I have only told people who are loving and supporting because this is such a personal and big decision that I do not want to deal with negative. Surprising enough one that I thought would be supportive gave me rash about removing organs that are supposed to be in my body. That’s exactly what I don’t want to hear. I only want to be surrounded by support & love.
I am glad I found this site. I am positive it will help me along my journey.

Those who have gone through the surgery did you deal with a lot of pain? I know a few folks and they said no.

I have my surgery on the 16th, I'm only told my mother and she's been my biggest supporter. I usually keep things to myself so the rest of my family and friends can freak out by my future weight loss.
  13. Thanks

My Surgery is on the 15th, I have only told one person. Maybe later I might share, but this is my journey and I do not like sharing my success with anybody. I might later, but not now.

Hi .... I have told people ... i am tired of being uncomfortable and my doctor recommended it for my breathing and sleep apena and high blood pressure. I didn't tell anyone for days what he suggested because I thought he was mean but honest... at first i thought it was crazy until i looked into it. When i went to the seminar for weight loss the first thing the doctor said is 90% of people that loss weight by dieting gain it back! That was it for me ... so tired of gaining and losing over the years and this surgery gives you a chance. When people ask me about it tell them about the percentage of people gaining weight back and it shuts them up. I want to live longer for my son and god willing this is my chance. II know it wont be easy but it will give me a chance to start over. Its a good thing!!! Tell them all it is a good thing .. a new start ... good luck !!!!!
