    Any use intermittent fasting?

Good for you! I'm still around 90 lbs away from my goal weight, which at the moment seems totally unachievable. ๐Ÿ˜…But I'm hoping that slow and steady will get me there in the end!

    Any use intermittent fasting?

Good for you! Keeping a level head through stalls can be a challenge. When it happens to me I get a bit panicky: "did I go through all of this to stay at 240!? Will I ever loose more weight!?" Those sort of thoughts race through my mind if the stall continues even though I'm doing all the right things. My surgery was on July 15.

    Water

O, feel your pain! And so true about the guzzling! I thought I was all alone with that one! It has been really hot in Belgium over the summer and all I wanted to do was to guzzle ice cold water - you know to the point where you get that "water baby belly"-feeling. ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿคฐ Two things have helped me: 1) Adding flavor to the water. I have had 2-3 different kinds of flavorings going, switching between them to keep it interesting. For whatever reason I had this weird feeling that plain water hit my stomach harder somehow. Pretty sure it is only in my head. And I'm pretty sure I only feel it because the doctor told me that it might be like that at the hospital. Anyway, it worked for me. 2) Breaking the 64 oz goal into smaller goals throughout the day. For example: 8oz before 10 am, another 8oz before noon or whatever. As long as I time it to not coincide with my eating.

    Any use intermittent fasting?

I used to do a lot of intermittent fasting, partly because breakfast just doesn't sit right with me - never has. So waiting until noon to eat always been my groove. I used to be a major, major night time snacker in stead. The last couple of years I have cycled through gaining a bit and correcting with IF. I helped me a lot through three brutal weeks of pre-op liquid diet. Now however, I struggle to get in the calories suggested by the dietician. A lot. I get nauseous and vomit very easily, so postponing ( or skipping) meals is hugely tempting since I don't feel real hunger (only head hunger). IF with long fasting intervals is not an option for me at the moment - simply not enough time in the day. With that said: I don't eat after 8.30 pm (to control the food addiction I have around night time snacking) and I don't start until earliest 8.30 am the next day - with me working from home I more often start eating around 10 am. I guess some would call that IF - to me however, IF is more of an 18:6 or 20:4 hour eating pattern.

    July 2020 Surgery anyone?

Great work! And a wonderful non scale victory! I'm 11 days out and I can recognize the over exertion thing. I flew to my homecountry the other day and even though I tried not to lift my luggage too much I still had to carry it up and down stairs. I was so tired and in pain when I finally reached my destination ๐Ÿ˜…

    I canโ€™t wait...

I can't wait to - Go shopping with friends and be able to try on clothes in the same stores as them - Sit comfortably with my legs crossed - Pass unnoticed through the city, buy groceries and go to the fitness center without being stared or snickered at - To go to the GP with a cough or a backpain and not have the conversation be about my weight - Not spending parties and family events constantly alert and moving around to avoid cameras
  7. I have chosen to tell my mom as the only family member - the rest are gossips and very judgemental. Hard pass on them. I have told one colleague, who was also the one to pick me up from the hospital and who has checked in on me these past few days. She's really my rock. I have not chosen to share it with anyone else from work. I have also told a few friends - they have all been very supportive. Not sure why I'm surprised at that really, I mean they are my friends after all. I'm sure word will spread eventually, especially when the weight loss becomes visible. While I wish it wouldn't I'm okay with it.
  8. I am 3 days post-op today, and it is the first day I have not maxed out my painkiller allowance. It feels like great progress! So, now that I felt better, I stopped to take some "post-op pictures". But when I looked at them I was quite shocked ๐Ÿ˜… My complexion is very, very fair so every bruise stands out a lot. And boy, am I bruised! I have bruising around the incisions. I have a huge bruise on my forearm from the IV dislodging and sending fluids to my muscle instead of the blodstream. The other arm is super bruised as well from a nervous nurse having a hard time finding a vein. And my surgeon has me on these anti-thrombotic injections each day, so more tiny tiny bruises appear each morning. It looks dramatic, but really I feel fine ๐Ÿ˜‚

    July 2020 Surgery anyone?

I had my bypass on the 15. Everything went well, although I'm still in pain. If I keep improving like this though I should be fine. Walking has really helped - it is slow and uncomfortable but it is a good thing. I'm struggling to get in my water and to eat what the doctor recommended. I'll hang in there and keep pushing. ๐Ÿ’ช

    July 2020 Surgery anyone?

I'm having RNY on July 15th! Somehow the date seems so much closer on this side of July 1st ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Glad to hear I'm not the only one freaking a bit out due to gaining 5-7 Corona pounds. I decided to start my liquid fast early as well and dropped about 11 lbs in a week. The past few days no change on the scale though. Hopefully it will pick up again so that I'll be sure to have a nice and shrunken liver ๐Ÿ˜…
  11. Alright, in case anyone is interested here's what the dietrist team told me: They do not mind the intermittent fasting as long as I get in three shakes a day. So after discussing it with them, I'm going to do a food window from 1 pm - 7 pm, having one shake at 1 pm, one shake at 4 pm and one shake at 7 pm. That way I can contrate on work before lunch and not be too hungry during work in the afternoon, yay! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
  12. Hi all, So this might be a stupid question. I have been wondering what the process involved in liver shrinking actually is? I'm the kind of person who feel most comfortable with new things if I can see or understand how they work. I'm having a gastric bypass on July 15 and part of my prep has been to watch surgery videos to understand the mechanics of the operation. I might be a bit of a weirdo, I know. Now I have started obsessing about the liver shrinking, scared to death that the surgeon will refuse to operate for some reason. I even taken to starting my pre-op diet early. Anyway, can someone help put my mind to rest by explaining the liver shrinking? Does it happen due to the very low calorie intake? Or is it linked to the protein shakes? Is it because food intake is liquid - and why is it that pre-op diets are liquid?
  13. Thank you all so much! You are all so helpful. ๐Ÿ˜ I find the three protein shakes a day + vegetables very difficult, not so much because the shakes are yucky, but more that they are making me so hungry. I find myself gravitating towards intermittent fasting in stead - I don't feel as hungry and can go about my day much easier. I do one shake in the morning and then some plain vegetables at night. In terms of weight loss this is working quite well - I've lost close to 11 lbs this past week.
