Cherie04 got a reaction from pmz in Any December surgery
I'm having the gastric sleeve done on Wednesday, December 9. I haven't had to do a preop diet until tomorrow. I'm starting to get excited!! Hard to believe it's finally here

Day 2 pain is under control. Feeling pretty good for just having surgery. Tolerating my post op liquid diet. They gave me some Apple Cinnamon tea. It is delicious. PS my hunger is really gone for now.

Cherie04 got a reaction from qianmij in What was/is your greatest fear?
My biggest fear is failure. I've seen so many people have good results from these surgeries, but also know people who are as big or bigger than when they started the process. That is my fear.

Welcome to the forums and to the post-op side of things.
I went for the most flavorful food I could find. We may not be able to have big meals, but we can have big flavor.
Good luck,
Tek

I haven't had surgery yet, but have already encountered people like this. Whenever someone tells me it's the easy way out, I have to remind them and myself it's only a tool, not a magic pill. If I could have lost the weight on my own, I would have by now. I also have to remind myself why I'm doing it, for my health and to be able to enjoy my family more. I do hope things get better for you.

Cherie04 got a reaction from Arabesque in Telling the Kids
My son is 10. I told him and explained to him why and what was going to happen. He wasn't impressed!! His response was "As long as I don't have to look at your incisions!"

I literally climbed a mountain today, so I am splurging and enjoying a delicious poke bowl with tuna, scallops, and spicy salmon. Seaweed salad base instead of rice and loaded with veggies and avocado.

Yay! How exciting!
My insurance responded in a little over a week, so hopefully you'll hear back soon. Some states give insurance companies up to 14 days to respond.

Cherie04 got a reaction from GreenTealael in The Process
I am finishing up the process. I have my last appointment with my surgeon tomorrow. My journey has been pretty painless. My insurance had an option for 6 months or 3 months. I started my journey and am hoping to have my surgery before the end of the year, so I chose to go with 3 months.
1. I've had to have 4 appointments with my surgeon (all virtual due to covid)
2. 4 appointments with my nutritionist (I had to show weight loss at each appointment, even if it was only half a pound)
3. Preliminary blood work
4. A history from my PCP showing a history of obesity for the last several years
5. EGD
6. Psychological Evaluation (I was able to use Rolf Gordhamer, PH.D https://bariatricpsychassessment.com/about/ I did an online assessment and a very short 15-minute phone conversation

Cherie04 got a reaction from klmcin2020 in November 2020 sleevers
I've been trying to cut out all caffeine, which has been a struggle. I'm trying to get motivated to walk more and exercise. I've also started incorporating shakes at least one meal a day and drinking more Water. I've noticed it the last week I'm beginning to mourn the things I won't be able to eat!! That hasn't been fun.
