Additionally, the dishes may be prepared with a lot of fats and butter, or something else that may cause the dreaded dumping! You don't want that to happen in the middle of a 7-8 course meal. That being said, if you can limit yourself to 1 -2 bites of each course, and perhaps share the rest with your hubby, you could go and enjoy the experience. I've been out to eat plenty of times, and as long as I don't push it, I have a great time! Now that one time, when I thought I could have nachos by the pool followed by far more sushi than I should have....I had to leave the table and spend about 20 minutes in the bathroom with the "foamies" and then head home to go to bed. Not fun.

I eat fast food all the time. But I make better choices. At McD's I'll eat an egg mcmuffin and a coffee with cream and splenda. At Wendy's, I love their grilled chicken strawberry salad and eat about 2/3 of it. At KFC, I've been known to eat two chicken legs, original, no sides...and an ice tea. At Burger King, I'll eat half an Impossible Whopper.
For some people....stopping at fast food is too triggering and leads to free for all binging melt downs.
For me, I've found that I need to face my triggers to feel in control of my eating habits.
I purposefully go to fast food places for lunches (not always, but regularly when working) and order sensibly. I know exactly the number of calories I'm eating and make sure the rest of my day fits. I read the nutrition information before I order, make a plan, and stick to it.
Fast food places don't bother me anymore. I don't feel threatened with feeling out of control anymore. I feel like I can eat there and still eat responsibly.
I like fast food. In moderation. With my eyes wide open.
I like feeling like I've slayed that dragon and it holds no control over me anymore.

kellym1220 got a reaction from Melh9 in 6 weeks in - what is a normal food day?
At six weeks, I measured everything. My diet was as follwos:
Breakfast - coffee with 1/3 of a Protein Shake and collagen powder (19 grams of protein).
Mid Morning - hard boiled egg OR Chomps (meat stick with 9 grams of protein) OR Protein shake
lunch - 3 oz protein, could be deli turkey or ham and cheese, or ground beef/chicken with taco seasoning and refried Beans. I would also buy low carb tortillas and make a little wrap or burrito.
dinner - 3 oz protein (chicken breast/thigh, steak or fish) plus small portion of veggies.
I tried not to snack at this stage, but Snacks would be 1 oz of nuts, string cheese or CHOMPS.
And at least 64 oz of Water.
    Good luck!

I (who am only six months out) would say no to the liquid diet. I think you need to go back to focusing on Protein and Water.

My post surgery may be different from yours since I had the sleeve...but there's an excellent thread called food Before and After Photos...which has been VERY active, over 6,400 posts. I would start at the beginning (you can just skim it) to see their progress and how they started out. It gave me a LOT of great ideas on what I can eat, also what to eat if I'm flying or in an airport or on vacation or out to dinner...lol!
As an example, I'm 10 months out, and this weekend I went to Happy Hour and had two limoncello martinis, a half dozen oysters and two lamb shops...all for about $24. It was the perfect amount of food...and very high in Protein. I like to go out to eat too, and I'm in hospitality, so there are many work related "dining out" opportunities. I stick to one to two drinks (I know alcohol is forbidden, but I went rogue on that at about 4 months out!) and high protein. If I go to sushi, I get a sashimi appetizer...at my favorite restaurant, it's probably 3-4 ozs (9 pieces of three different fish) and it's perfect (although I have been known to sneak a piece of my son's eel roll. too!) Mexican, I get shrimp fajitas, no rice and have been know to bring my own low carb tortillas! I haven't really done Italian...but if I did, it would be shrimp scampi or chicken or veal picatta...no pasta!
I always study the menu before I go anywhere (the same recommendation every diet I have ever been on has made) and choose what I will be eating before I go. This helps me to not make bad choices, most of the time. I just decided that I was going to LIVE with my tiny belly...and living to me includes dining out!

I'm tall, like you. For me, it was that each year (or so) I would gain 20 pounds, and I would say/think, "Well if I could just lose 20 pounds, I would be back where I was last year, and that wasn't so bad." Then I realized that if I said/thought that next year, I would be over 300 pounds. Real eye opener...so I decided to do it, even though it was not covered by my insurance. Best decision of my life!

I was actually prepared to make spontaneous plans to see my high school buddies on the 40 year anniversary of our graduation! I was ready to book the plane ticket and go, when they ended up re-scheduling due to other's conflicts. 80 pounds ago, I wouldn't have even considered going...even with 3 months to "lose some weight"! Now, I'm like "Tell me when and where, and I'll be there!" It felt great!!

Right now I'm in Florida on vacation and this is the smallest I've ever been on a beach. It's SO much easier to walk on the sand and I even RAN on the sand today. I have not gotten short of breath at all. Last year a month before my surgery we went to Orange Beach, AL, and I had to keep stopping for breath every few feet and it was miserable. I was in so much pain too. swear I feel like a teenager again at almost 50!

For me...this is HUGE! I was looking at my robot vacuum cleaner this weekend, so I was on my knees (something I avoided like the PLAGUE before WLS) When I went to get up, I thought "Can I do it without holding on to something?" AND I DID IT! One of the things that always terrified me, was falling and not being able to get up. It happened once (I dropped some papers in the parking lot and when I tried to get up, I couldn't! I had to crawl to a car and pull myself up. UGH).

kellym1220 reacted to Lose to Cruise in What was your tipping point?
Wow! I'm so excited to find you all! I've been struggling and yo-yoing for years. Almost every time I meet a new doctor, one of the first things they ask is if I want to consider WLS. I've always said NO. I really thought I could do it on my own, and I have, several times, but always gain it back and more. Now my knees are bone-on-bone and I am in constant pain. My quality of life stinks and I hate not being able to do even the most "normal" things, like clean my apartment, walk up stairs, etc. I now work at a hospital and have good benefits and noticed on our website that they are offering a virtual info session on their weight loss surgery options. So, I signed up! I found this website by searching about alcohol after WLS! lol . I have a goal for 2023, to do a Mediterranean cruise. I went on one in 2016 when I was about 30 pounds lighter. I was able to walk and get around, but I know it would have been so much better if I wasn't so heavy/morbidly obese. I want to go back and see the places we missed (I travel with my daughters) and I know if I don't get this weight off, I won't be able to do it.

Hello! I am so there! Down 73 pounds...stuck at 70-73 pounds for the last few weeks...trying to break through and get to One-derland! LOL I just got my first vaccine and as soon as I feel "safe" I WILL be going to the gym and I HOPE that will be what it takes to get me to goal. I totally understand what you mean about being happy...I mean, I haven't been this low since I had my baby...25 years ago! I've dropped a couple of sizes...even my feet have shrunk! Everyone tells me how great I look! But I don't want to get complacent, and lose everything I've gained lost! Good luck and know that you are NOT alone!
