    1 Year Post-Op Update

    Congratulations! You look awesome!

    Scared I will fail

@lizzlosingit...so true! Pick your hard! I will never forget my sister (who is also overweight) saying "Are you sure you want to do this? It will change your relationship to food FOREVER!" And I just looked at her and said "That's kind of the point!" Every weight loss plan needs to change your relationship with food, or it won't work long term!
  3. I had the sleeve, but started about 2 months out...my mom came to visit and not only did we drink, we split a bottle of champagne (BUBBLES) three ways. I would recommend "testing" your tolerance at home before heading to a wedding. You want to make sure that you don't get super drunk or dump...just saying!

    Food Before and After Photos

I have always said "How can something that takes about two minutes to cook (scallops), stink up the entire house for TWO DAYS??" I'm going to the outside burner...I also airfried them in the garage! LOL (I love scallops)
  5. For me...this is HUGE! I was looking at my robot vacuum cleaner this weekend, so I was on my knees (something I avoided like the PLAGUE before WLS) When I went to get up, I thought "Can I do it without holding on to something?" AND I DID IT! One of the things that always terrified me, was falling and not being able to get up. It happened once (I dropped some papers in the parking lot and when I tried to get up, I couldn't! I had to crawl to a car and pull myself up. UGH).

    What was your tipping point?

My post surgery may be different from yours since I had the sleeve...but there's an excellent thread called Food Before and After Photos...which has been VERY active, over 6,400 posts. I would start at the beginning (you can just skim it) to see their progress and how they started out. It gave me a LOT of great ideas on what I can eat, also what to eat if I'm flying or in an airport or on vacation or out to dinner...lol! As an example, I'm 10 months out, and this weekend I went to Happy Hour and had two limoncello martinis, a half dozen oysters and two lamb shops...all for about $24. It was the perfect amount of food...and very high in protein. I like to go out to eat too, and I'm in hospitality, so there are many work related "dining out" opportunities. I stick to one to two drinks (I know alcohol is forbidden, but I went rogue on that at about 4 months out!) and high protein. If I go to sushi, I get a sashimi appetizer...at my favorite restaurant, it's probably 3-4 ozs (9 pieces of three different fish) and it's perfect (although I have been known to sneak a piece of my son's eel roll. too!) Mexican, I get shrimp fajitas, no rice and have been know to bring my own low carb tortillas! I haven't really done Italian...but if I did, it would be shrimp scampi or chicken or veal picatta...no pasta! I always study the menu before I go anywhere (the same recommendation every diet I have ever been on has made) and choose what I will be eating before I go. This helps me to not make bad choices, most of the time. I just decided that I was going to LIVE with my tiny belly...and living to me includes dining out!

    What was your tipping point?

I'm tall, like you. For me, it was that each year (or so) I would gain 20 pounds, and I would say/think, "Well if I could just lose 20 pounds, I would be back where I was last year, and that wasn't so bad." Then I realized that if I said/thought that next year, I would be over 300 pounds. Real eye opener...so I decided to do it, even though it was not covered by my insurance. Best decision of my life!

    One-derland

Finally!! I have to say, for those of you that are "slow losers", keep the faith! These last tw o months, I have been down to 2-4 pounds each MONTH, but it came off!

    Hangry

Did you get an antacid prescription with your surgery? I never had stomach acid issues pre-surgery, so I didn't bother taking it. Then someone advised me that stomach acid can mimic hunger and that did the trick. I also got soups from Panera (Summer Corn Chowder, YUM) and strained them. Thich enough to feel more like food...probably not a lot of protein though!
  10. I was going to the beach and grabbed one of my Rip Skirts, that I bought 3-4 years ago, when I was about 30 pounds lighter then my heaviest...it was WAY too loose for my waist, but did rest comfortably on my hips. I should be able to have it adjusted (with more velcro) but it was WAY TOO BIG! And...I went to the beach and wore a bathing suit!

    Trouble With Eggs Post-Op?

I also had trouble with eggs. I still don't eat scrambled eggs, I mostly eat hard boiled in salads, although I had a slice of quiche (the insides) with no issue.

    Too much weight loss?

I understand your concerns, but you should follow your nutritionist's advice (and possibly also see a therapist). I think you need to focus on fuel and energy, not empty calories. So if you need to add 200 calories to your diet, add some fruit to your breakfast or add some complex carbs like oatmeal or brown rice to your meals. Don't eat something that you know might trigger you, like cookies or ice cream. Take care and good luck!

    2nd Chance.

Agreed. I think this one will not be a sprint, but more of a marathon. Just remember what your goal is and stay focused on achieving that goal. Go back to basics and start getting in the water, tracking the food, starting to move more...it all adds up. Good luck!
  14. I hated my CPAP too! I would rip it off in the middle of the night so I could get to sleep! I finally had to beg them to take it back...they said if I didn't wear it more they would have to take it back and I said PLEASE DO!
  15. Scrambled eggs (for breakfast), yogurt, chili...not sure how cooking creative you are when camping, but what about taking foil packets with salmon and zucchini? If you will be using a camp stove, refried beans with cheese (maybe make fajitas for the husband). You could probably eat a hot dog or hamburger, if you chewed it very carefully.

    50 pounds!

    Congratulations!!!

Week 1 clear liquids - Best go-to items?

I bought Swanson Sipping Bone Broth...45 calories, 9 grams of protein...the Chicken with Lemon and Rosemary was my favorite, but they also had plain chicken and Chicken with Ginger and Tumeric.

    I’m so weak!!!

It seems like your calories might be a bit low...I think I was getting closer to 800 calories at that time. I also did not do a lot of exercise until I was able to add more calories...but I'm just lazy.

    Pancakes!

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed three ingredient pancakes (cottage cheese, oatmeal and eggs) and can't wait to try these next weekend!

    Alternatives on Full Liquid Diet

I went to Panera and got their Summer Corn Chowder and strained it and ate that. Oh my goodness, yum! I also did some Miso soup and avoided the chunks (confession time, I had a chunk of tofu, in about 6 bites!) But any soup will work. Good luck, this too shall pass!

I HIT GOAL!!!! Validate me! :):):)

    CONGRATULATIONS! You look amazing!
  22. Putting on a pair of stretch pants that were TOOOOOO stretchy! LOL Throwing away my saggy, granny panties (Thank goodness I kept some cute underwear!) Digging out my old bras...down from a 40DD to a 38DD...I'm glad the girls are sticking around for this journey!
  23. kellym1220

    One glass of wine....

Agreed! If it's going to make you feel "bad" or "guilty" don't do it! Personally, I would go for it...and see what happens!!
  24. I have dumped twice...both times from eating eggs. It wasn't pleasant, but I can now eat them and buttery sauces with no issues.
  25. kellym1220

    I HATE broth!!!

    I strained soups from Panera...Summer Corn Chowder...YUM!
