I was fortunate enough to skip all of that. I had a zoom consultation then my surgery was booked for a week and a half later. I had to only get blood work done. But I was self pay so I didn’t have to meet insurance set requirements. I also received almost half off the procedure due to covid! I know it must be such a pain to weight and have to jump through all of these hoops! Good luck.

Hi all! Happy weekend. I have my surgery next Wednesday- I am so excited! I am doing the endoscopic sleeve and have about 80 lbs to lose. Still so frustrated that I got here to begin with but enough looking back- excited about the journey to come. I am a major researcher and want to be proactive. I have started to list foods I will eat. And have begun to purchase what I can which won’t expire too soon. This is helping me mentally prepare and adding to the excitement. Of course the food list for any bariatric surgery is very limited and gradually increases over time. I would love to hear about your favorites, what for you through the mundane list and anything creative you came up with throughout the initial months of your new food journey.
    Cheers! Jennifer

Hi everyone! I'm new here and appreciate being part of this circle. I was sleeved on June 11, so I'm 5 days post surgery. I think I'm doing well and am likely where I'm supposed to be on my recovery journey. I still feel a lot of pain around the larger abdominal incision, but not enough that it stops me from moving around gingerly. I can't really do 'real' walks around the block or anything. I'm doing a few loops around my pool a couple of times a day.
It's really interesting to see how different the approaches are between doctors and patients. I started Clear Liquids two days before surgery and two days after surgery. since then, I started of full liquids - which pretty much allows me to drink Premium Protein Shakes, Water, broth, sugar-free jello/pudding and greek yoghurt. I see my doctor again next week and will phase into soft/pureed foods for 4 weeks at the end of two weeks. I have to say that I'm feeling pretty hungry. Anyone else? My new stomach seems to be turning, but I'm not nauseous, just hungry. Not a fantastic feeling and had hoped I wouldn't have to contend with that right away.
When I got on the scale today, I realize I have dropped 12lbs already (since clear liquids started before the surgery). I haven't been able to shed more than a 2-3 lbs over the last year with all kinds of approaches and then 12 lbs in a week! I'm thrilled but a little concerned too. Unsure how to process it.
As a result of COVID, I'm working from home and started back to work today, so far so good.

jenlp88 reacted to Hop_Scotch in ESG Scheduled for June 24- Anyone else?
I had a ESG in Oct 2018 and you will from my signature that I had a revision to a surgical sleeve in Mar 2020 as most of my sutures had come undone.
There are a number of people that have had good success with ESG and a number didn't have success. Some failures were due to lack of doctor technique/skill and knowledge, lack of compliance, and for some regardless of how well their compliance or how well the surgeon did the ESG the sutures just didn't hold.
There aren't too many people on bariatricpal with ESG currently so if you are on Facebook there are a few ESG groups, one large group (mostly Americans) and a smaller ESG failure group (mostly Australians).
My recovery from ESG was relatively easy, I had some rolling stomach cramps the first couple of days.
Follow your post-op guidelines as exact as you can, don't go over volumes specified you don't want your sutures to loosen.

the Vitamin thing is overwhelming at first, but it becomes pretty automatic after awhile. I don't even have to think about it anymore. I took a handful when I got up in the morning, another (smaller) handful before dinner, and then another Calcium supplement sometime during the day, and Iron before I went to bed. I got one of those pill separators/containers (where I load it up for the week) a year or so ago which made it even easier. I just take what's in the day compartment in the morning, and the night compartment in the late afternoon. Then all I have to remember to take is that extra calcium sometime during the day and my iron before I go to bed.
