    Smart scales and muscle loss

Ok, smart scale peeps, I have suddenly become concerned obsessed about my 5 pound muscle loss over the last two months. ๐Ÿ™„ I work out typically 7-8 hours per week, of which about 3+ hours are dedicated to strength training. I eat my protein, 60-100 g/day. In spite of this, my trend from my smart scale shows a 5 pound loss of muscle (28 pounds total loss) over the last two months (since I bought the scale). What gives? Anyone else noticed muscle trending down on their smart scale during weight loss? I am frustrated since I have been working so hard to maintain muscle through this process.
  2. So I had plastic surgery 3 weeks ago tomorrow. My surgery included belt lipectomy/360 tummy tuck, and breast lift with augmentation. Recovery has been tougher than I expected due to fatigue. I went back to work (RN in a large clinic) last Monday. The fatigue was unreal. On Tuesday, one of the doctors I work with decided I should be checked for anemia. I popped over to our lab and had a quick blood draw. I had finished lunch about 45 prior to getting the blood drawn. The next day when I received my lab results, I was surprised to see my blood glucose was 59. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ I do not dump, so I have been eating more simple carbs and sugars to try to keep from losing more weight. I had been eating some candy on Tuesday prior to lunch. Apparently, I have reactive hypoglycemia. No more simple carbs and sugars for me, except small amounts with meals. The bummer part of this, (aside from feeling extra crappy with low blood sugars), is that I am really anxious about not losing any more weight and donโ€™t know how I am going to keep the weight on without the extra calories. I guess I need to increase healthy fats to make sure I keep my calories up. With that said, I have lost about 3 pounds since my plastic surgery. I never thought I would be stressed about losing weight. ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ I have an appointment with my surgeonโ€™s office in a week and I am looking forward to discussing this with them. My labs also show some iron deficient anemia. I was not iron deficient nor anemic prior to plastics, so this is directly related to blood loss in surgery, and fairly simple to correct with diet and iron supplements (I donโ€™t normally take any iron supplements). Over all, I am doing very well post-plastics. My pain has really been minimal since about day 3 post-plastics. I have had a bit of trouble with my incisions separating (dehiscence) in a few small spots. My husband is a wound nurse, so we have been managing the wound care with pretty good results. I am thrilled to have breasts again after going from a 40 DD to a 34 A. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Anyhow, here are bikini pics to show off my post-plastics bodyโ€ฆswelling included. ๐Ÿ˜‚
  3. I had a difficult time stopping the weight loss. I ended up cutting back just a little on my exercise regimen (I also refused to give up my new, healthy addiction), and focused on eating more. I still eat plenty of protein, but I eat a lot more carbs now. My weight is stable and my friends/family have stopped hassling me about my weight. I eat around 2000 calories a day and exercise about 6 days a week, including running and weight training along with other cardio, and yoga. I feel great and I like how my body looks. Good luck!

    Bariatric surgery and keto?

I had RNY, not sleeve, but I find too much fat at one time makes me nauseous. My husband eats keto and I literally make two meals (when I cook), because I eat carbs and canโ€™t tolerate the high fat in his food. The post op diet is usually pretty much a high protein, reduced carb, low/reduced fat diet, which worked well for me. In maintenance, I eat more carbs.

Love!! This dress! I unreasonably want itโ€ฆI have no upcoming events where this dress would be worn. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ My husband is literally having to upgrade his wardrobe because every time we go out, I am overdressed ๐Ÿ˜‚ What would he wear out with me dressed in this to go to our favorite Mexican restaurant?? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

Wore this to dinner at a pub last weekend. I donโ€™t like the bunching of the velvet pants, but sizing up would be too big in waist and hips. I guess I have what is referred to as โ€œathleticโ€ legs๐Ÿ˜‚

    Regret and Depression

Over sensitive and snappish are definitely some things I experienced post-surgery, in spite of my low dose of Prozac. It did get better, but my husband definitely took the brunt of my moodiness. The portion restriction did not bother me, because my hunger was low and I got full very quickly. I believe most of my moodiness stemmed from hormone fluctuations.

    Just a taste?

Exactly this! Now I literally eat what ever I want because I exercise a lot. Early on, my cravings were for protein, fruits, and veggies. I do not eat much in the way of concentrated sugars at this point, due to reactive hypoglycemia, (said as I munch on some teddy Grahamโ€™s). ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธWith that said, I am in maintenance, ran 4 miles today, and do not want to lose weight. In maintenance, you can eat foods you want to eat providing they do not make you physically ill or cause you to gain unwanted weight.

    Regret and Depression

I have depression. After surgery I felt energized. It was amazing. For the first time in years wanted to be a part of things again. I know my results are not normal. I have taken Prozac 20 mg for 10++ years. I was especially moody post surgery, but it has settled down. I feel great and have felt great since my surgery. My initial mood swings were challenging for Hubby and I, but I think we have come through to the other side. Hang in there! The first few months are so hard.

Suit is fabulous! ๐Ÿ˜ My name is Wish, and I am a shoe and clothing addict. ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ I have so many gorgeous things to wear and no where to go, so I am feeling your pain, @ms.sss. ๐Ÿ˜‚ last weekend Hubby and I went out to a nice, but not super fancy, restaurant for dinner. I was way over dressed, so hubby over dressed in solidarity ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ We stopped at a very un-fancy bar on the way home. The server asked if we had a party we were going toโ€ฆnope, just home and in bed by 9. Lol

A month of steroids for the asthma and I am back on track ๐Ÿคช I am on an animal print thing right now, but also love the color tones in this dress. It is from Banana Republic and it is a heavier weight, satiny fabric, so smooth but not terribly flowy due to the weight of the fabric.

Hi guys! Been off the air for a bit. Hope everyone is doing well. I am doing great! Just had some struggles with my asthma after Maui due to the smoky air out west. Here is a dress I picked up for $23. I also love a bargain๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

    First stall

You have lost 50 pounds in 2 months! Congratulations! Yep, your body just needs to take a minute to โ€œcatch up.โ€ Just keep doing what you have been doing (presumably following your plan) and the stall will break. ๐Ÿ˜Š
  16. Well, I guess I am proof your dream is readily obtainable! 10+ years ago Husband and I were on Maui. Husband wanted to take a surf lesson. I passed, partly because of my size/lack of fitness, and partly because it just wasnโ€™t important to me (cost of activities add up quick). This trip, Husband stayed home, but I was trying to do lots of fun stuff with my niece and nephew. We did SUP one day, and the shop said we should try surfing as well. Kids were game so I signed us up. Thanks to an awesome coach, we were all standing up and riding waves on the first try. Shockingly, I was better at it than either of the kids and I loved it. Basically, I now want to move to Maui and become a middle aged surf bum ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ Maybe you want to join me??๐Ÿ˜‚ I think this is a great goal for you, @STLoser! ๐Ÿ„โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ„โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ„โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ„โ€โ™€๏ธ PS. Was on vacation in Maui last week with Mom, Sister, Nephew, and Niece. Had an amazing time and took a surf lesson with the kids. So much fun! Would have never been able to do this before! Sunset is from the backyard of Momโ€™s Maui house. Fam pic from left to right: Sister, Niece, me, Nephew, and Mom. Kids are almost 13 and almost 15.

    Canโ€™t keep Most food down

    Also lactose free!
  22. My energy was good within about a week. We are all different, though, so your experience wonโ€™t be like anyone elseโ€™s. If you can get the protein in, it will really help with energy. The only time I had a hard time with food wanting to revisit in โ€œpublic,โ€ (closed door office with one co-worker) was about 1.5 months out after having some chicken at lunch. I managed to keep it down ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป Win! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

    Surgeon Disappointed ๐Ÿ˜ž

Nopeโ€ฆ I consistently lost 15 pounds a month for like the first 4-5 months. I thought I was going to be a slow loser since I โ€œonlyโ€ lost 15 that first month, but it just kept happening. Usually weight loss does slow after the first month or two, but if you stick with your plan you will keep losing and it adds up quick. We all lose at our own rates, so try not to compare yourself to others. 21 pounds the first month is awesome. You are doing great! Just keep on keeping on, and stick with your plan. ๐Ÿ˜Š

    Surgeon Disappointed ๐Ÿ˜ž

I lost 15 pounds the first month after my surgery. Here I am a year later with over 130 lost. Follow your plan and donโ€™t let a thoughtless comment from your surgeon get you down. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š
