    Hi delphina

I cannot believe that after going through a gastric bypass does that mean that I may have to go through a revision? It is sad that through all the challenges with our weight we still have to battle with weight gain. I too have beem gaining weight. I have done everything to monitor my food intake and still see the dial go up and up.

delphina can you share your surgeon if you are in nyc.

    Thanks

I just had a revision to my RNY that I had done in 2003 where I started out at 325. Over the course of a year and a half, I lost 170 lb. Eventually I got down to around 140. 3 years ago I started gaining weight and I didn't know why; I ran from Dr to Dr and they all just kept telling me to go on a diet. Eventually found my way to the surgeon that I have now (my original surgeon has since retired). I went into surgery at 235 lbs. I had my surgery last Wednesday September 16th where he made my pouch 2/3 of its former size. Had my follow-up with him this morning 8 days post-op and I've lost 9 lb. I really really want to get back to my former weight. I'm hoping, I'm going to work hard at it so we'll see. Once I started gaining weight nothing, I did helped so praying this pouch reset will work.

I had a gastric sleeve. Tomorrow will be one month. I was really excited about not being hungry but for 3 days I’ve noticed hunger so much more. But I had some Protein Bites for lunch and I’m having to tell myself that it’s enough because it’s too early to give in to eating more. I feel at days that hunger is a shameful sensation. I know it’s stupid but it’s just how I feel at times.

    Hello

I know the feeling, at times my apetite is bigger than other days. I always try my best to remain mondful & positive. The only issue I have is that my stomach and brain does not communicate. I eat based on sight and time. So what I see I eat. I keep air popped popcorn in the house, fruits, and I meal prep. Alongside to my Protein Shakes

Always treat each day individually. If you fail one day, know your mistakes dust yourself off and do better the next day. Only you can deal with these challenges.

    I am here for you.

  4. Hello, I’m looking for some encouraging words- I’m 4 weeks out from my gastric bypass. The two weeks prior to surgery I lost 20lbs, the week after surgery I lost another ten. But I’ve not lost any weight in 3 weeks. This experience has been really challenging as I had very bad reactions to the pain medication that put me back in the hospital. Then just recovery, it’s been rough. It’s a mind f@@@ when I’m not even loosing weight. I’m doing what’s been told to me to do and yet nothing. It feels like it was all for nothing.

    Hi abbie
Let me start by saying do not have regrets nor have discouragement. U can tweek the eating habits make a reversal and come out winning. Do you write down what you eat everyday & monitor your calorie? Allow me to share, i use carb manager. It is awesome. You can upload the app in your phone. Possibly include some walking? In addition, are you including Protein in your diet?

  5. I have been 4 years post op with my gastric bypass underwent in 2016. Since this global pandemic I have gained weight due to the ability of working from home, stress, fear and the lack of exercise. I am slowly trying to fight against the challenges now the past 2 weeks such as discipline myself again to healthy eating, Protein Shakes, Water intake and going to the gym 3 x a week. What exercise recommendations can you shed on me which will allow me to burn fat most, lose weight and allow me to meet my goal. I am so close I can taste it.

Hi: Had Sleeve done in Jan 2020 and I lost about 45 lbs. Now I am stuck. I seem to have run out of motivation and wonder why I had this surgery. I don't know how to get back on track. Any suggestions? Marcie

    Hi Marcie

First we have to get to the bottom of why you feel it was a waste of time? What is causing you to remain focused on your health and avoid the backslide.

I was self-pay so I'm not sure about the insurance process. Mine has a no WLS clause :(

    Rachel

You will eventually receive a call within 2 to 3 weeks. God willing you will be going for surgery towards the end of October unless if your insurance company requires other guidances in effort to rule out that the surgery is medically necessary.

What insurance do you have? What state?

Hello all, I am due for surgery in October but I finally finished out the program to be able to submit my paperwork to my insurance as of Thursday 9/17/20 now I'm just waiting on a call from my baratric team to choose what day in October. My program was technically supposed to end October 1st but I got done a little sooner 😅 I'm in need of support other than my boyfriend and his family. I'm so scared. but sorta excited. I deal with anxiety and depression so it can be a bit of a struggle some days I think I got the whole WLS thing down and other days I'm just way too overwhelmed by it all! Encouraging words accepted* I'm in need of them.

    Much love ~ Rachael

    Hi Rachel

I can relate with anxiety and depresiion as a Functional individual. One thing that I can exprezs which i always remind myself each and everyday is that no matter what you do, what you say never have regrets. For the most time through the WLS journey i never regretted anything despite of any challenges.

Thank you! I’m 1 month out and feeling great. I did have a question. Wow 2016 that’s amazing! How do you feel? Any regrets? How do you know if your eating too much? I’m averaging about 700-1000 cals per day and although my weight loss is good I just don’t want to ruin what I worked to get. Any help would be great.

I feel great though i have not met my goal which was primarily my fault. I stalled by eating incorrectly snacking, not drinking Protein. But I have been disxoplined now. Im going to the gym, taking my Vitamins, drinking my Water, doing my shakes. I have no regrets at all. I underwent the first WLS in 2009 and it was the lapband. I loss the largest bulk of my weight from 2009 through 2015. Though i faced a plateau for one year due to an erosion of my stomach i gained some weight back but i still had no regrets. If i ever need to reconsider i would do it again

But this time around I realized that i need discipline so i put myselt on Intermittent fasting.

  10. Hey everyone I made it home today. I’m in a lot of pain but just tying to not think about it. Hopefully I will start feeling better in a few days. I’ll keep posting my updates as the come.
Its important that you take your pain meds, walk to keep the circulation throughout your body. Its ok not to go outdoors but at least walk around the house slowly.

  13. Hi all, I was wondering if anyone had a revision to an original gastric bypass surgery. I’m going in and having my pouch made smaller. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this and what my outcome might look like. Thanks
    Hello
    Yes, i had a revision
In 2009 i underwent the lap band procedure. The weight loss was successfully but my food intake was poor. I regurgitated alot.

In 2015, i developed an erosion around the stomach and they had to remove my band. They restored my stomach for a few months with meds

In 2016, i underwent a revision which was a gastric bypass. I loss weight but 4 years later I am at a stAll.

You are in the category of being evaluated and potentially become approved for surgery.

  15. Hello

I just finished my required 6 months of meeting with a nutritionist. During the 6 months I lost about 5 pounds. She just mentioned that I was expected to lose more, about 10-15 and that the doc would NOT clear me for surgery without losing 10-15 pounds. Now I am 10 days out from meeting the surgeon for my final appointment and to get approval. I need to lose 5+ pounds in the next 10 days and I am feeling overwhelmed. Any tips?

    Current stat
    5’3 and 245lbs
    Hi sarAh
I know you may feel overwhelmed and the liquid diet can cause some withdrawals to old habits but push yourself for a lifestyle change that will improve your health with 1 simple tool.

Start by having a Premier Protein in the morning i love caramel. It taste yummy.

Then plan out your entire day.

    I hope this information helps.
